For example, when I wear a red dress, my mind automatically goes to black tights. Whether they are opaque, more transparent, or patterned is an entirely different story. I was an FBI Agent for 5 years and I worked terrorism matters.I wore a suit maybe 5% of the time. If an Agent is required to be present in court, he or she will always wear a suit. Supervisors within the FBI are usually in a suit, but not necessarily all of them. There are some exceptions.A huge variable is the violation that the street Agent specializes in. Generally, the street Agent will wear attire that matches the population within their specialty. For instance, those Agents who work white collar crime will almost always be in business attire. Agents who work cyber-crime, terrorism, and counter-intelligence are likely to be in business casual attire. Agents who work gang and narcotics matters will be even more dressed down, usually in jeans and a polo shirt.The idea is to look professional and represent the Bureau well, but not be so overdressed that it hinders the Agents ability to interact with the public, and if on surveillance stick out so much that they compromise their ability to conduct the surveillance operation.If an Agent is conducting an early morning search warrant or arrest warrant, they will usually be in more tactical looking attire - athletic shirt with tactical pants.
