What Tone Is Used In This Situation

Is this irony? Situation included! :)?

For summer reading I have to give examples of irony, themes, tone, etc. in the book My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. Is this ironic?

SPOILER ALERT of the ending. DONT read if you are planning on reading this.

Anna, born for the sole purpose to save her sister from cancer lives her life giving here sister what she needs. Until her mother asks her to give up her kidney, she complies, but then sues her parents for medical emancipation. After a long fight in court, she is granted her emancipation. Not soon after, Anna is in a car crash and goes brain dead. Her parents pull the plug and give her kidney to her sister who lives for years and years.

So she fought to be her own person and all that jazz and in the end just ends up as another piece in her sisters body?

I just finished the book two minutes ago and I am thoroughly pissed. Maybe I'm just immature, but that is a piss ant ending.

But is it irony also? Because I got to get this stupid assignment done! :)

How do I tell the difference between a word used to describe tone and one used to describe mood?

It really depends on what you mean by “tone” and “mood.”See, in literature, we talk about tone as the writer’s attitude toward a subject and the mood as how we are “made to feel” as readers. Your question was: How do I tell the difference between a word used to describe tone and one used to describe mood? In this situation, you CAN’T. From the writer’s perspective, the only thing they can “technically” do is to write with whatever attitude, whatever opinion they have of the subject matter. They can’t write as anything other than themselves. Even if the writer wrote something because he was trying to make you feel a certain way, it would still be considered tone because he may not have succeeded. Essentially, the mood isn’t determined when the writer writes; it’s determined when the reader reads. That’s my take, anyway. It’s a very interesting question; thanks for requesting my answer. Good luck on your English endeavours!

How do I change a skin tone on sims 2, from custom (the really white or green ) to default?

You'll have to download a game mod to change the skin tone. I've used this one before:
http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?...

In order to download it you have to create an account on modthesims but it's free and it's a really great and safe website. You also need the program winRAR to download stuff from that website but it's also free! There is great instructions on modthesims on how to download.

Once you download it I believe the mod is a painting you can find in buy mode.

Hopefully this fixes your problem! Happy simming! =)

Please Help!! I need to know about the poem The White House by Claude McKay!?

I need to know the type of poem (lyric or narrative), and describe decisions the poet made to create the emotional tone of the poem. Include a discussion of the speaker's voice, the situation and setting, and language conventions used by the poet such as imagery (symbols, metaphors, and similes), rhythm or meter, and external structures such as shaped verse, sonnets, or limericks, as well as blank verse, rhymed verse, or free verse. Use line numbers to indicate specific examples from the poem. Thanks sooooo much!!!
I also need to do understand the following for the same poem
I need to Identify the antagonist from the poem telling the story from his or her point of view. I can not use the protagonist (who is usually the point of view character), I have to Use textual evidence to develop a creative background for this character, referring to the paragraph number and page number for your support. Use first person and speak in the actual voice of the antagonist. Your character’s background will help readers to understand the relationships between characters as well as psychological motivations. Use some literary license!

Do native Chinese speakers sometimes use different tones on very common words like "請問" or "你好"?

Sometime cantonese speakers pronounce 大 with a low rising intonation when they put emphasis on it. Otherwise they might change words in first tone to kind of 3rd tone (but actually it’s more of a very low first tone). The changes you hear are usually the products of a local accent, depending on the place people will have their tone pronounciation affected by their dialect. But usually the distribution of the tones will remain the same between the words.

What are some examples of tone in sentences?

What are some examples of tone in sentences?Tone is a major manipulator of meaning. How someone says something entirely changes the situation. Therefore, authors use tone to create the type of mood that they want for a piece of literature (examples.yourdictionary.com)Examples of literary tone are airy, comic, condescending, funny, heavy, intimate, playful, sad, sinister, serious, solemn, threatening. (en.m.wikipedia.org).Example 1: The door slowly moved backwards but no one was there. Winds blew and snuffed the only candlelight on the table, while the dog outside barked an eerie bark. [Sinister tone, mystery]Example 2: Hurray, hurray, hurray! We won the game. [Tone of victory, joy]Example 3: I’m ready. I’m ready to go. Take care of yourself. Tell mama I have forgiven her. [Solemn, sad tone]Example 4: No! I say, no! Enough of this foolishness. We won't allow it anymore. [Strict, warning tone]Example 5: We're here because we have an advocacy; we are women of substance. [Political, advocacy]Example 6: I feel sad about the ruthless killings everywhere in the name of religion. Can't we have peace at all? [Advocacy, activist tone]SUMMARY: Tone is therefore the emotion created in a piece of communication (literature) and can be found in the words expressed.

How could I improve my rhetoric skill? How can I use the right tone of voice and speed in different situations?

Often when we teach rhetoric, we focus on the three appeals as well as logic and certain basic public speaking skills such as eye contact, pause, and the smile. What we often leave out are pitch, cadence, and emphasis. For these, I will recommend to you a series of YouTube videos by Richard Butterfield; I’ve used several of his videos with my own students. Find them here. Many blessings!
