What type of coin is this?

You indeed have a good luck token, it is not a coin. It is gold colored not gold. This type item has been around for a good many years and could have been made at anytime. You can get an idea of age by how well the coin is worn. Most sell in the .50 cents to $2 range depending on size and metal. Silver ones that are dollar size sell for around $20. You may never find out who did make it unless there is a company name on it, look around the edge. Where there is a legend on your token is actually called the rim, the edge is the 3rd side. Hope this helps some.

What type of coin do i have?

Honestly, it sounds like a medal of some sort.

You're right about it looking like a pope's profile, because it is a pope. "johannes xxiii pont. maxims" would be Latin (with some of the words shortened) for "John XXIII, Supreme Pontiff"

I think it's a medal or token because the date doesn't match with John XXIII's reign, which was from 1958 to 1963, and it's unlikely that the Vatican would issue a coin with part of a prayer in English.

I'm not an expert on tokens or medals, so about all I can do is to point you towards http://www.coinpeople.com and suggest that you check in the "exonumia" section. If you don't find your item, you can try asking there, where there are people who should be able to help you.

What type of coin is this?

This looks like an Iceni coin to me. The heavy-handedness, the circular forms, the uneven edges- here is an example of one:Thank you for your A2A, but I may very well be wrong. However, with no other evidence other than appearance, this is my best guess. :)

What type of coins does John Wick use in the film?

IMHO, those coins represent an acknowledged medium of exchange, used for more short-term and  immediate means of tranferring goods or services among the characters who populate Wick's elegantly designed clandestine underworld. They are not any familiar form of gold currency. One ounce krugerrands are only 1/4 of an inch larger than a US quarter. These are quite larger than that, and look to be in the 2-3 oz range. Depending on the spot market at recent times, one coin could represent a value of $3000USD to $4500USD.This would be consistent with Wick's assassin and like-minded culture. Even the briefest of tasks undertaken assume a considerable degree of descretion and confidentiality, for which everybody is happy to pay a considerable premium.IMHO2, Larger and highly-risky Services provided would likely be engaged through secretive accounts. Remember that 1) Viggo had a stack of similar sized coins in his most available safe. 2) This is a world of $multi-million agreements and plotted plans. To spend thousands of dollars to move through your "working" days with a minimum of time consuming distractions, and having unusually special needs tended to quickly and quietly, would be quite valauable. 3) The Continental is a "Membership". The hard rules and harsh Rules Committee enforcement of the Continental  provide an assassin or marginal entrepreneur with a night 's sleep, and also guarantee that you will wake up in the morning. I would imagine the Annual Membership Dues are substantial, due to the costs of enforcement by the Continental, and the singular rarity of the services they provide. The gold coins Wick tendered to the Concierge would be his "gratuities". After all, he is the Source of all Continental services and Moderator to all which transpires during your visit.IMHO3, One would be most gracious to show positive sentiments for his unique skills and judgement in dollar denominations equivalent to your dependency on his sophisticated abilities. ;)
