What Type Of Defense Does Mike Zimmer Run

What’s the chance of Case Keenum coming back to the Vikings?

It is very unlikely because:A) The Vikings have already invested in Kirk Cousins and bringing in Keenum would thus have to be as a backup. Keenum would be very expensive for a backup, especially for the team with the second least cap space in the NFL.B) Trading Cousins to bring in Keenum wouldn’t work because Kirk Cousins’s contract has a no-trade clause which means he cannot be traded without his own written consent, and Cousins won’t consent to being traded.C) Even though Keenum would only be signed as a backup, it would appear like a threat to Kirk Cousins’s job, and thus create unnecessary controversy.D) Keenum is not as good of a quarterback as Kirk Cousins. His 2017 season was somewhat of a fluke where he had a decent offensive line to protect him, a very strong running game, a good coordinator, and an elite defense to rely on. Even with all of these advantages, which Kirk Cousins didn’t have in 2018 (or at least had to a lesser degree), Cousins put up similar numbers in 2018 to Keenum’s numbers from 2017. Meanwhile, Keenum played quite poorly in Denver in 2018.E) Perhaps most importantly, Mike Zimmer does not believe in Keenum. Throughout the 2017 season, Zimmer repeatedly stated that Keenum was not a long term solution. This led to some turmoil between Zimmer and Keenum’s agents. Between Mike Zimmer’s lack of belief in Keenum’s abilities and his deteriorated relationship with Keenum’s agents, it is extremely unlikely that he will want to bring Keenum back.

Who's the better safety, Sean taylor or Roy Williams?

Roy Williams is a dirty player. In 2005 he broke Tyrone Calico's and Musa Smith's legs with the horse collar tackle. It was only outlawed after he broke TO's leg that same season... and he still grabs receivers by the collar. To answer your question, Taylor.

Will Mike Zimmer do a good job as the new head coach of the Vikings?

I think Zimmer could do very well.  He has hired an OC with a pedigree that should work very well with what we have on offense (remember, by the numbers, we had a pretty decent offense last year even with the QB debacle), and he has hired a new DC that has experience with his system, and so, hopefully, knows how to run it to Zimmers liking.  And, the defensive personnel we have should work well (with the LBs being the wildcard) with his defensive style.  Both Rhodes and Munnerlyn are press corners, and Harrison Smith is a hard hitting safety.  We finally have a true space/block eater on the D-Line with Linval Joseph, and I don't think we are going to see any drop off from Allen to Griffen (I believe we will see improvement).  And Williams is gone, yes, but I think Floyd will do admirably.  And Crichton should be able to fill the role that Griffen had up to this point.  The LBs, and specifically Barr's development and Greenway's ability to stop and/or turnaround his slide, are the wildcard here.  Even just average play from the LBs will give us a good defense.  And, as already stated the offense was already decent, and with Norv as OC can only get better, and I foresee Teddy taking over around the middle of the year, depending on our position and Cassel's performance.

Is it likely that the Minnesota Vikings are regretting their $84 million, fully guaranteed contract to Kirk Cousins?

Cousins season is having similar difficulties to Russel Wilson's last year. A poor offensive line causing a lot of other issues combined with a poor offensive coordinator. Let's compare some stuff.Cousins is on pace for ~600 more yards (~100 more counting both rushing yards), ~6 fewer touchdowns, the same amount of picks, and 3 fewer fumbles (and that's counting Kirk's 2 'fumbles' which were laterals dropped by running backs). Kirk is also offering about 80% of offensive production right now.Dealing with the same stuff, and offering similar seasons... Russel Wilson, who went 9-7 was in discussions for MVP. Kirk Cousins, though, is getting criticized left and right by many media outlets and definitely ridiculed by fans of other teams. It’s extremely hypocritical.Mike Zimmer knows what Cousins can do because he has done it against an elite Mike Zimmer defense. I don’t think the opinions of people outside the building matter much to any of them.

I remember i think it was two years ago in the playoffs when the Red Sox and the Yankees got in a fight...?

Don Zimmer put Pedro in that no win situation.

Yeah, when Clemens throws at Piazza, to them it was all part of the game...they wanted Mikey P to just get over it and stop "Whining" about being knocked out.

But when Pedro throws at Yankees........

And Carrie..Pedro is not a douche bag. Zimm was sitting in the dugout, Zimm ran on to the field, Zimm went after Pedro....What was Pedro supposed to do?? Run? Pedro didn't "throw" anyone down...Pedro pushed him aside as he took a step the otehr way.
The old guy landed on his face...

Zimm is a tough old guy, but he has no business going after Pedro especially after his own comments about Clemens throwing at Piazza.
Oh no....you can't do that! That's dirty baseball....

I've hated the Yankees ever since.

Which NFL head coaches don't call any plays?

According to these articles:Bruce Arians among 10 head coaches to call playsEvery new NFL coaching hire except one is going to call offensive playsAt least this season it looks like around 15 coaches called plays on one side of the ball or the other, based on reports from ESPN and reports from coaches on their hiring. These are the coaches that DID call their own plays (according to reports):Cardinals’ AriansRedskins’ GrudenEagles’ Pederson49ers’ KellyTexans’ O’BrienSaints’ PaytonChiefs’ ReidVikings’ ZimmerPackers’ McCarthyBills’ RyanJets’ BowlesDolphins’ GaseBuccaneers’ KoetterBrowns’ JacksonGiant’s McAdooWhich means that the following may not have called the plays (we don’t know for sure either way):Falcons’ QuinnRavens’ HarbaughPanthers’ RiveraBears’ FoxBengals’ LewisCowboys’ GarrettBroncos’ KubiakLions’ CaldwellColts’ PaganoJaguars’ MarroneRams’ FisherPatriots’ BelichickRaiders’ Del RioChargers’ McCoySteelers’ TomlinTitans’ MularkeyI don’t put 100% stock in ESPN’s reporting, however, because I have it on good word that McVay actually called the plays for the Redskins this year, except in a few cases where he was overridden by Gruden. The article was written last year and it’s possible he’s given up the primary duties since then (everything is fluid in the NFL).Most of this is probably rumor and speculation. NFL organizations are very tight lipped and translucent. You can’t trust much of what they say and most don’t say anything. All of the head coaches likely have a huge hand in putting together the game plan on both sides of the ball including the initial “script” they follow for the first couple drives, as well as conferring with the various staffs providing their inputs. To say that they don’t call the plays on the sideline might be an overstatement, even if they don’t actually tell the players what the play will be.

What are the prospects for the Vikings this season now that Teddy Bridgewater tore his ACL?

Probably not as bad as some are suggesting. Even before they traded for Sam Bradford, the Vikings still possessed a top defense, which in all likelihood should be better than last year’s. They also have AP and are, in general, a solid running team. They are good at controlling the clock, and many teams in the past have fared quite well with a dominant defense. The most important factor is Mike Zimmer, who appears to excel at making a team greater than the talent possessed by any one player.Teddy Bridgewater’s terrible injury was the only hindrance to a team that seemed to have all its pieces in place. However, now that they have acquired Sam Bradford, they should be almost where they were before TB got hurt.Get well soon Teddy, you made this team joy to watch.

Is Mike Tomlin still a viable head coach after the upcoming loss of Bell and Brown, and the rest of the division becoming more competitive?

Mike Tomlin is still a viable head coach. In 2018, the Steelers failed to make the playoffs but were without the services of two first team All-Pro talents from 2017. Le’Veon Bell refused to play for the franchise tag amount of $14.5 million in 2018. Linebacker Ryan Shazier was hurt during the 2017 regular season.Despite the loss of the best running back in the league and the Steelers best defensive playmaker; Pittsburgh was just one victory away (or one Baltimore loss) from being in the playoffs last season.Losing Antonio Brown will hurt the Steelers on the field. Also, Brown’s interviews and use of social media to discredit Mike Tomlin, Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers organization has damaged each of their reputations. The question about Mike Tomlin is why he allowed the situation to fester for so long. Another way to look at it is that he did a respectable job of keeping a difficult personality productive for nine seasons: Glass half empty or glass half full. The Steelers Depot opined that 2019 “will be a crucial year for (Tomlin).” The team will not have Bell or Brown on the roster and the defense needs vast improvement. The same article cites Patrick Daugherty of Rotoworld who ranks head coaches. He has Tomlin falling from 4th to 7th place.Tomlin Slips In Head Coaching Rankings After Turbulent Season - Steelers DepotThe viability of Mike Tomlin a head coach will be determined by how the team fares without these super stars. If the Steelers reappear in the playoffs in the next season or two without the services of three 1st team all-pro talents in their prime (Shazier, Bell & Brown) then I would say Mike Tomlin is more than a “viable” head coach; he is an exceptionally good to great head coach. The real big test then will be how does the Pittsburgh Steelers reconfigure themselves once Ben Roethlisberger retires. If Tomlin stays with the team to successfully see Pittsburgh through the transition of a Hall of Fame caliber quarterback to a new franchise quarterback, then Tomlin himself is worthy of Hall of Fame consideration as a head coach.
