What Upgrades Can I Make For My Gaming Pc

What should I upgrade for my gaming PC?

There’s no set rules because your upgrade priority would depend on your specs. For a decent gaming pc the tier would be GPU, CPU, RAM, PSU. In most situations GPU is the first priority but, it depends on the use case and your current PC build. If you have a 1080ti with an i3 and want to game at 1080p 240hz then ofc CPU should be upgraded. If you have i7 8700k+2080ti but 450w PSU then PSU should be upgraded. Generally the upgrades will go hand in hand though. Like if you have a mid tier build with a gtx 1060+i5 8400 and 500w PSU but want to upgrade the GPU to a 2080 ti then you’d need to upgrade the PSU along with getting the new gpu because the power consumption is too high.

How can I upgrade an old pc to a gaming one?

RAM upgrade:Check what generation of RAM your system use; DDR l, DDR2, DDR3.You mentioned your PC is standing since 1999, thus I conclude that you have a DDR RAM configuration, you may have DDR2 but you definitely won't have DDR3.If you have DDR the max GB per slot is 1GB, so if you have two memory slots, you can have up to a max RAM of 2GB. A single 1GB module costs around 500/-If you have DDR2 configuration, you can have 2GB per slot. However, 4GB modules are available but I doubt they are made for server. A single 2GB module cost around 800/-If you have a DDR2 System, you can increase your RAM up to 8GB using DDR3 RAM by replacing your motherboard. Search for a DDR3+DDR2 supported motherboard which has the same processor socket. A such typical motherboard will cost around 4k to 7k. Go for this only if you don't have a budget to upgrade your processor.Processor:You can find a powerful used processor on eBay for 2k to 6k which is far less than the market price.Find out your Processor model number, then search for the Socket type it uses. Search for the best processor you can get for that socket. If you are upgrading your processor, you may need to upgrade your Processor Fan too. Please check the TDP of your current processor and new processor. If the TDP of the new one is much higher than current processor, you must upgrade your Processor Fan or Processor Cooling System too. That's for the processor.Graphics:You can basically buy any GPU from the market, Install and Play, but there is a problem.Your motherboard must be having PCI E 1.0 slots which will be used to plug in GPUs on your motherboard. Current GPUs uses PCI E 3.0. However, they are backward compatible and will on your system but at lower speeds. You may upgrade your Motherboard to avoid this situation.

How do I upgrade an office PC to a gaming PC?

I see the link to the specific ‘office PC’. Oh god… Please tell me you haven’t bought that PC… I mean, if it was given to you, I feel even worse, but still… There would be almost no point in getting it.Ohhhhhkay, let’s see… The 4 GB RAM is too little to even run a few tabs of Google Chrome on Windows 10 (that’s if you don’t want to spend extra to get the maximum of 8 GB), that CPU is ancient, there’s no dedicated graphics card, the hard drive is half the size normally expected in the modern world, and the monitor that comes with it isn’t even 1080p. So what we’re talking here, in order to make it even relatively feasible to run SOMETHING bigger than a DOS game, is a complete overhaul.Yep, you read that right: complete overhaul. By the time you’d finish ‘upgrading’, there’d be almost nothing left of the original. Maybe the case would stay, if it’s not too small, the power supply might be strong enough, and I guess the built-in card reader is pretty nifty, but everything else would be replaced. Yes, that includes the monitor. So really, it’d be more practical to either buy a completely different pre-built rig or just build something yourself from scratch.I’m honestly appalled that something as weak as that is still being sold… And from the looks of things, it’s not even for novelty or legacy stuff! It’s being sold under the expectation of being used! I… I just… Nope, I give up.
