What Used To Be Cool/90

What were some cool tech gadgets used in the 90s, which are no longer used today?

*sigh* pretty flip phones! I used to love the phones of the 90s to the 2000s or till whenever stupid Apple introduced the bar touchscreen design. I do love Apple phones but I hate that they have sucked out the innovation from other phone designers, basically reducing every smartphone today to a very similar design.I was travelling by metro the other day when I noticed the phones in everyone's hands! I was pretty shocked to see that I couldn't differentiate if a phone was an iPhone or a Samsung or any other phone brand because they all look the same (at least at first glance)This part has been bothering me for quite a while but I wake up every day in the hopes that one day, I will be re-introduced to fancy phones like:1. MotorazrThe first ‘slim’ phone to be introduced in the market, having a Motorazr ensured that all eyes were on you. The sleek design, the beautiful colour (silver), and most importantly, a flip phone, the Motorazr was definitely one of Motorola’s best phones till date! 2. Sony Ericsson Walkman SeriesThe Walkman series came in different models and designs but the selling point (as is obvious) is the sound quality and its association with the Walkman brand. 3. Nokia N seriesThe N-series revolutionized the mobile phone industry and it was for people who wanted a feature-rich phone rather than just as a fancy showpiece. The N-series was more famous as a gaming-friendly phone (if my memory serves right) but it also had other features like music, photo and video recording, sending and receiving photos and videos, and also internet supportSource: Phones to Smartphones-Are phone designers lazy? - GeekFence *sigh* one can only dream I suppose!

Red, blue, green, etc hair used to be edgy and cool in the 90s and early 2000s. Now soy boy SJWs have it. Why must liberals ruin everything?

@Anon I already agreed with you about Kurt Cobain, you were wrong about Stefani, and yeah, whether you like it or not it was edgy and cool. Cobain is an @sswipe but he's an edgy @sswipe

Is old '80s/'90s slang still relevant and used today?

It's totally still used today. Like, even kids still use it. They just don't realize all these awesome terms became slang in the ‘80s.I may be too old to keep track of who the current teen heartthrobs are (no duh), but I can still see who's got a hot bod. Surrre, you might say, but what's your damage? Get real, already. Chill, dude. Don't make me barf. The jocks and goths and nerds all know I'm cool. You can't psych me out. I'm a badass. And that's just the ‘80s. Slang from the ’90s is even more ubiquitous.____Edit: Asked for some ’90s slang still used today, I came up with this list:I don't know how current all this is, but there are some I still hear:‘Sup?Yo…With (As in, “I'll come with” or “Wanna come with?”)Hit (referring to sex)TMIIt's all goodGoing postalBlingAlright (this phrase, used like one word to mean okay, sure, originated in the ‘90s)A’ight (variant of alright)HaterBack in the day… (used to mean “remember when” or back when")Good to goAll that or all that and a bag of chips and variationsDude (when used for a guy or gal)Tweak (use drugs, especially meth)Junk (meaning “stuff")Wife beater (used to mean a men's sleeveless undershirt)Chill, chill out, or chillin'LurkerFreaking (as a euphemism for the F-word, like “freaking moron!”)Freak out (“He totally freaked out, dude.”)F bombSo (As in “That is so wrong!”)Psych! My badOMGGhetto (meaning “cheap")Bitch (in the sense of “You made that guy your bitch")Beeyotch (used affectionately)Props (as in “give props")Chick flickFYIBills or coin (meaning “money")BuzzkillSaltyDankFuglyHottieM'kayThe shit (meaning “very good")Old schoolDuh!Get over it!Get a room!Po poI'm sure there are more. A lot of slang came around with the introduction of the internet. Also, virtually anything said in the movie Clueless or on the TV shows Seinfeld or Friends.

Was the phrase "cool beans" ever repeatedly used in a cartoon show?

i remember watching a cartoon-like show when i was younger; it was a boy and a girl (possibly siblings) and there were lots of outlandish and bizarre adventures, which may or may not have taken place in a jungle, and the boy of the two would always say "cool beans" every episode, and that's where i first heard the phrase.

am i the only one that remembers anything vaguely like this?

just wondering.

What cool things from the 80s are still considered cool today?

I think entertainment from the 80s has held up pretty well. You hear 80s music being played all the time all over the place. Many movies from the 1980s are held in high regard and are still watchable quality-wise. Some of them have been remade because the stories were popular. I don’t think the 1980s was especially notable for architecture, but many buildings built in the 1980s are still considered nice nowadays. Cars were better in the 1980s than the 1970s but I don’t think there were many classics, especially among American car makers. I liked the fashion in the 1980s, but it doesn’t seem to be held in very high regard. Overall though, I think people consider the 1980s to be kind of a “cool” decade and there is quite a bit of nostalgia. It’s sort of like how people viewed the 1950s when were were IN the 1980s. Back then, everything 50s was cool.

What items from the 90s do you still use today?

Guitars, several of them. Lots of books that belong to my parents, my grandparents, and antique ones. I wear the same thick ear rings with a ball, since late ‘90’s I think. I use my whole CDs collection, I use my matchboxes from all over the world collection, since the no-smoking-inside ban, the bars and restaurants quit making their own matches, so I generally get some not really rare matches and use them. In any case, my collection became a real collection that is worth something, in one day. But I started in in the mid-’90s. Thanks to my parents, I have no furniture but antique at home, and I have a collection of medical hardware, like a syringe, not even opened, made of glass. I have Korean bell chimes, a Korean pocket fan, still hasn’t broke, although it’s made of thin pieces of wood. I still use the gold-plated Montblanc pen, due to the very limited reasons to use it, it still shines. I used to wear the watches from 1998, but I don’t wear them for many years now, maybe like ten years. There are more comfortable ways of knowing the time. It is obvious that I have some other things from the ‘90’s without even realizing it, but that’s it for now, but I might remember something later. Thanks for the interesting question, I never asked myself that:)
