What Video Formats Playstation 2 Supports

Does Playstation 2 support 720P or 1080i? If so what cable do I need to make this work?

anything over 480i become "Hi Def"

The PS2 is not a system that outputs to HD. Standard Def 480i is the best you can get.

PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 2 .ISO s?

Hello. I am new to the realm of pirated video games. I am getting a PS4 very soon and with PS2 backwards-compatibility confirmed, is it possible to play PS2 .ISO files on PS4?

I am fairly decent with computers, I have a regular old laptop with Windows 10 and I have an optical drive that can burn files to CD/DVD s. I downloaded my .ISO file of Futurama: The Game (2.1 G.B.) and I am wondering if the game will need to play off a disc or flash drive. Both are available and I am able to access them easily. I am not able to download any programs that require subscriptions, nor weird USB turntable burn-to-dvd peripherals.

Thank you!

(P.S. If you cannot play .ISO files on PS4, could someone recommend some emulators and such?)

Can a PS2 play MPEG video formats?

The Playstation 2 does not support MPEG video files. Most of the video files used in the Playstation system are FMV files. A user must convert the MPEG files to FMV files or another video file compatible with DVD players, such as AVI.

What media formats does PS3 support?

When you connect usb devices you have to be under the "video" sectino to view video & so on. Also when viewing files highlight the usb & push the "trialngle" button & select "view files" or something like that, you cant just open the usb it doesnt work that way, its stupid but thats how the ps3 is set up.

Edit: Again once you are under the video setting & the usb is highlighted you cant just hit the "x" button it will tell you there are no files like you are saying, you have to hit the "triangle" button & select "view files" its just the way ps3 works.

How to get Netflix on your Playstation 2?

It WAS possible, if you modded your PS2 console or had one of the rare streaming discs from Netflix. But Netflix discontinued their support for the PS2 Netflix software back in 2012, so the old method and the disc no longer works. The reason they stopped supporting it is because they lacked the means to update it remotely and have it support the new anti-copyright methods, which frequently change.

I'm not aware of any homebrew development communities currently working on figuring out how to do it again, since the PS2 is so outdated at this point.

Which dvd player can play all formats?

Not a single one..Yes, you read it right. Not a single DVD player can support and play all formats. In fact, they usually play only those videos that are in DVD format. Other ones like MP4, MOV and MKV doesn’t get played by the DVD players. So the answer to this question is NONE.BUT, there’s a way you can make your DVD player support and play all formats. And it is to use a handy DVD burning tool.Take DVD Creator as an example. This tool can help you convert over 150+ types of different videos into DVD. So it’s safe to say that with DVD Creator you can make all formats playable for your DVD player. All you just have to do is to convert them. And it doesn’t necessarily require a whole lot of time or technical skills to convert DVDs.You can do it simply by doing some drag-and-drop stuff. For instance, you first open up the DVD Creator and click the “Create a new project” to start converting a fresh DVD.And then you drag or import a video that you want to convert to DVDThat’s it.You can now convert that video simply by hitting the “Burn” option from the top left side. And it will be ready to play on any DVD player with absolute ease.Simple…But that’s not all.If you want to edit or modify a video before you convert it to DVD, you can also do it with the DVD Creator. It has a integrated Video Editor that allows you to trim your video, change audio clip, add new texts, give some effects and so on.Even if you want to add some templates to your DVD, you can do it simply by surfing the Template Collections. There are over 100+ different templates that can be freely used and customized. So you can also try them out to give your video a more appealing look. So, your DVD player will not support and play all formats. But you can make it play using a handy tool like DVD Creator.Hope this helpsCheers…

Does a Playstation 2 play Blu-Ray discs? If so, how does the video quality compare to a designated Blu-ray player?

The PS2 came out like 1996/7(I remember a buddy of mine getting one in 6th grade), Blueray was not commercially available until 2005ish (I remember getting my XBOX 360 in Jan 2006 and PS3 released later that year a year after Bluray players were costing around 500$). The PS2 was a good dvd player for the price point in its day.As with all my answers where the other posters have answered the base question there is an exception… kind of! Linux could be installed on the PS2 with optional HDD, and there was an optional Ethernet adapter, Now, it was a tiny HDD and they were usb 1.0 ports if I remember correctly, so under an extremely implausible set of conditions with an external usb bluray compatable with usb 1.0 a ps2 could hypothetically read a bluray but due to a lack of codecs for bluray playback would be impossible… But it could happen (DVD john took a while to release the DVD decryption key) and on the TV the play back would be poor and buffer constantly because the processor is too slow and doesn’t support the processor instructions that modern processors do.

Why does my Playstation 2 refuse to recognize my USB drive?

It wouldn't matter if it was new or old, slimline or the old fat model, the PlayStaton 2 does not support USB drives for saving games, playing music, etc. USB drives could only be used in select games for very specific features, Gran Turismo 4 for example supported USB drives for saving photos and there might be a few others that had support for similar features. In any sense it doesn't matter if you format it to FAT, FAT32, NTFS or whatever, your PlayStation 2 will never read a USB drive unless it's playing a game that supports USB drives.

What was a better video game console? Sega Dreamcast or Playstation 2?

PS2 by a mile. The Dreamcast was good.Really good. Sega was beginning to look like they were recovering from the disaster that was the Sega Saturn. They had some great games, and when they couldn't get a third party to do it they would do it in-house. Third party games were good as well. They built in networking when it was just starting out. It had four controller ports and games looked and sounded great. Power Stone and Soul Caliber were amazing.But….They made some serious mistakes in design. The controller was uncomfortable and expensive. While the idea of having all that expandability in the controller might seem good, it wasn't really used that much. I personally liked the idea, but for most games it wasn't that great. They went with the GD format, I guess to fight piracy but it wound up crippling them in storage, since the format held about 1/4 the capacity of a DVD. The discs were also fragile as hell compared to the DVD discs on Sony.Their other problem was that Sony knew they could use the PS2 as an upsell of the psx with DVD support. A lot of people saw it as a way to play DVD movies and psx games and maybe PS2 games. When a DVD player was still in the $200+ range and the PS2 sold for $299 you can see why a lot of people jumped at this. Finally they still had ghosts of consoles past, and many developers had been burned by them. Sony was a lot nicer than Sega or Nintendo to deal with so lots of players went there.
