Is this a good fantasy hockey team?
You for sure have a well balanced team here, lots of players that will get you points. However I'll give it a go at 10 points of improvement for you... - You lack some proverbial star power (ie. An Ovechikin, Crosby, Malkin, Thornton, Lecalvier) So don't expect anybody from your roster to post triple digit numbers... - You have a very strong Defence, all of which are point producers, therefore you may consider moving one of those guys in a package deal to land a 100 point producer. - One big thing that sticks out for me is that you should have Dustin Brown as your utility guy instead of Jason Blake, way more upside. - I would also consider taking Ray Whitney off your roster and replacing him with one of your bench guys (Zajac, or acquire someone else via trade) It's just a gut feeling of mine that he is on his way down hill - You might want to find a better defenceman to have on your bench because although you have a solid blueline... Defencemen tend to be streaky in their point production and therefore you may need another guy to sub in when one of your starters is cold. - I would trade Backstrom... He is a good goalie on a bad team, and therefore his stats will not be as high as a mediocre goalie on a good team. The points you receive from your goalie in a hockey pool are more of a reflection of the team then the individual between the pipes. Perhaps swap him for a guy like Osgood and a solid bench player who can step in and give you points. - Remember to pay attention to your starting goalies!! Keep a nice rotation going depending on the success of the team they play for - I assume this is a Yahoo pool... So remember to keep an eye on the free agent pool, you would be surprised as to who guys skim over in the draft. - Consider putting a top notch prospect on your bench, a guy like Tavares, Filatov or Hodgson could be passed over in a draft and come up and put up a lot of points in the season. - Last thing... Just trade Blake all together... No leaf is a good leaf... lol Well theres my 2 cents, take it or leave it... Good luck!!
