What Was So Confusing With Prometheus

What was so confusing with Prometheus?

I enjoyed that movie quite a lot, in fact its one of my favorite sci-fis in the last several years. I'm guessing the question that wasn't answered was where do the Engineers come from but I assume that's for the sequel.

Now to educate those two:

alladinw, in what way was it the same plot as Alien, just because they're in the same universe doesn't mean this was some remake in any way. It did not lift a lot of lnes from Alien. And while you can have any opinion you like on the script, it was not written by Ridley Scott.

Craziee Panda,
1) That is a common question and many assume it to be because humans simply started becoming arrogant or out of control like in the case of killing the Engineer that came to Earth 2000 years ago perhaps as the final warning but was killed (Jesus?). Maybe they saw people as a failed experiment, this was the question left somewhat as a cliffhanger for the sequel. The black goo was created having many applications and definetely before humans, after all in the opening scene it was used to "seed" the planet with DNA.
2) This was most likely due to Weyland's orders to help find some sort of fountain of youth and this was to be a test to see what the mysterious liquid does.
3) Who knows what the star map meant, the scientists assumed it was an invitation but no one knows for sure. Perhaps thousands of years ago the Engineers nurtured people and urged them to advance and one day seek them out, and like I mentioned the black goo was made long before humans and not for the purpose of killing them.
4) We don't know everything about the black goo, only that it has great biological mutation abilities. In fifield's case, it mutated him. In Elizabeth's case, she was sort of impgregnated with black goo that started growing inside her at a rapid pace.
5) Because she wants to know where they come from and why they want to kill humans, the last scene of the movie sums this question up. Who knows what she will do there, that's for the sequel to show. And she is a scientist, there's no way Earth would start a military operation so far in space on assumptions they will find the Engineer homeworld who are much more advanced and stronger. She only wants answers, not violence.

What was the black goo in Prometheus?

One of the things I both loved and hated about "Prometheus" was its open ended and somewhat ambigous nature. Here's may take on your questions:

**What is that black, alien goo? We know its organic, thanks to David. Since he's an android, there's no telling how he "perceives" things. He may be able to see in infrared, ultraviolet, microscopic, you name it. What we see as "black goo", he could actually perceive as something completely different.

My theory: the black goo is the long theorized “primordial ooze”, a substance so rich in organic material its almost alive in and of itself. We know the “black goo” causes the Engineer in the prologue to basically become a “DNA Bomb” and start human life on Earth. What we see through Prometheus is what happens with its uncontrolled use. Thus, it can accelerate growth/evolution (from worms to the snake thing), cause mutations (Holloway and Shaw), and even keep dead tissue alive and functioning (Fifield “dies” face first in the black goo and later comes back as a mutated, kill-crazy zombie). Its powerful, dangerous stuff.

I its the same black goo from the prologue. The Engineer stands by a waterfall, ingests the “black goo” and promptly dissolves into a “DNA bomb”. I took this to be the beginning of human life on Earth. This is further evidenced by humans sharing the same DNA/genetics as the Engineers. This particular Engineer was like a gardener, spreading the seeds of life through his sacrifice.

Hope this helps.

Dress up like Prometheus?

I would suggest going in the nude and chained, as Prometheus was. If you want to go whole hog, have a make-up guy simulate a wound in your side.

Might be considered tasteless and confusing (people might think you are supposed to be Andromeda instead).

How about just putting on a dress, taking a box with a big lock on it along and telling people you're Pandora?

Myth of Prometheus ?

I understand that there are a lot of different versions of the myth of Prometheus. I'm looking for the answers according to the most common versions.

Here's what I don't understand about it:
1. Who is Prometheus' mother? I have heard that it is either the nymph Asia or the nymph Clymene. Which version is more common?
2. Why was Prometheus released from the rock with the eagle? I've heard that Zeus just told Hercules to, that Hercules killed the eagle which was Zeus' requirement for Prometheus' release, that Prometheus' mother prophesied for Zeus...
3. In the version where Prometheus' mother prophesies for Zeus who will overthrow Zeus eventually, she says that it will be a child of Zeus and who? Does Zeus take any measures to make sure this will not happen? Does this ever happen (someone overthrows Zeus)?

Is Prometheus a good movie?

Not really. It's visually stunning, but it's plagued with plotholes, lazy storytelling, stock characters and phallic imagery that's so painfully obvious that everyone in the theatre was laughing out loud. As a prequel to the Alien movies, it fails. There are very few answers as to what the Aliens are and where they came from. And the answers we do get really aren't that satisfying.

How was Prometheus intelligent?

He knew that the army of Atlas would fall to that of Zeus' so he sided with the Olympians during the war.

Prometheus means "forethought". Epimethius means "afterthought".

He had the gift of prophecy, too.

Alien Covenant and Prometheus?

Im a little confused about this movie and the other alien movies, I saw david engineered a face hugger with is actually from most alien movies. does that "Alien Covenant" happened before those movies before like Alien vs predator. seems to be little bit confusing.
