What Was The Most Touching Thing Anyone Has Done For You

What is the most heart touching thing that anyone has ever said to you?

It came from a friend from my college days. when i met at college it was his third attempt at getting a college degree, he always drops out at some point(reckless behavior found out later). He dropped  out during our time together but this time it was due to a heart complications, had to have multiple open heart sugeries , couldnt follow through, geology isnt particularly heart friendly. Coupled with the medical issues, he had to deal with a dispute about his being switched at birth and the nurse who did this confessed at her death bed, this ensued a bitter lawsuit. Both family reached an agreement outside the courts and settled amicably and he stayed with his parents. But that left a  deep emotional scar on him and he started to self-destruct. I talked him through the process, i made him see a way through life.We lost touch for a moment(6 years) when he moved cities to go back and pursue a degree after recovering from the heart surgeries.Few months back i get a call from a stranger and it was him, i was so excited that he got his life together and has gotten a degree, but that he was married with a beautiful daughter. When we spoke again about few weeks later he said to me, I wouldn't be here if it wasnt for you, i owe my life to you, i told my wife and i tell my daughter and i would never stop cause you changed my life. Its about the nicest thing ever!P.S: it got me teary eyed of course.

Why do I love touching things?

I am by no means an expert but to me it sounds like your experiences are due to increased brain activity in the regions of your brain which are responsible for processing tactile and olfactory senses. Most likely this is the result of a process called synaptic pruning. As an infant you are born with over 100 billion neurons, but as you grow your brain automatically removes or prunes neurons which are inactive and uses them to strengthen the neural pathways which are used more frequently. For whatever reason your brain decided that activities of touching and smelling were very important and strengthened them accordingly. This should have no effect on any of your other neurological functions, but if you are concerned about your eyesight you should see an ophthalmologist so he can check your eyes. Also, if you are concerned about this or experience any other neurological abnormalities you should definitely tell your physician about it, as they will have the best resources to address your concerns.
Good luck and continue smelling, touching, and enjoying life as you always have!

What's the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?

Many years ago, when I was 13 years old, I was watching a television drama. The boy in the story had the same cynical, cold and suspicious personality that I had.

He was shown that there was more to life than that. He was even shown that his own friendship was valuable.

Being shown my own personality flaw had an electrifying effect on me, burning it out. This is called "catharsis." It is a stupendous gift that burns out ingratitude and pettiness.

So the writer of that teleplay created the nicest thing anyone has done for me. I suspect there were others with the same false sophistication whose sould were also touched by that drama.

I have more friends than I would otherwise have because of that experience. I am wiser and more trustworthy because of it. It was a priceless gift.

I try to pay for it by serving as a reliable mentor for the next generation.

What's the most touching thing a child has ever said to you?

Good Evening, Mr. Loewenherz. When I was in Hospital, having Multiple Experimental Surgeries on my Knees, in the hopes I might be able to Walk ( This was in 1958. I’m REALLY Old.), I made Friends with the other Three Boys who were also Hospitalized. Peter was VERY Ill. The Doctors had no idea WHAT was his Physical Problem. They even had Plastic Bags attached to his Arms and Legs, so they could collect his Perspiration, and Examine it under a Microscope. After Six or Eight Weeks, I was preparing to leave for Home. The Nurse Wheeled me next to his Bed, so I could Shake his Hand, and say my Good-byes. He thanked me for my Friendship. ( What choice did we have? We were the ONLY Four Boys in that Room.) I Thanked Peter for being my Friend, as well. Then, Peter looked Solemnly into my Eyes, and asked, “ Jimmy, when I Die, will you come to my Funeral?” Tears gathered in my Eyes, and I Shouted at him, “ You’re NOT going to DIE!” Then, I was pushed out of the Room in my Wheelchair. Two Weeks after I had returned Home, Mom read a Letter, written to her, by Peter’s Mother. Peter Died…Ten Days after I came Home. We were both Nine Years Old. My Physical Condition prevented me from even going to School, much less to my Friend’s Funeral.I have to stop, now. I’m sorry. Sir, I hope you have a pleasant Evening.

What's the most romantic thing anyone's done for you or said to you?

In my freshman year .I used to go the central library of my university very often .Once there I saw a extremely beautiful girl reading a book right in front of me . I was quietly staring at her. And I think she didn’t have any heck of idea about this .She was a complete distraction for me. After some time I started feeling hungry. But because of her I didn’t moved. I was just falling for her.And out of no where she said something “Can you do favor , Can you keep an eye on my stuffs ”. She ran outside the library to attend a call I guess. . There I sat and waited for her as I don't have any better option to do. At one point it was so hard to wait. I was missing her so badly. After five mins she came and a ray of hope raised in my heart. She asked “Did I took long”I answered “Yes, You did. I am very hungry. I was about to leave for Hostel mess.”She-You hungry ? Wait a min I have something for you then. Then she opened her stationary pouch and take out a “Cadbury 5 star”. And offered me.I simply took the chocolate and thanked her.And here sadly our conversation ended. I said bye.The chocolate which she gave me I kept it for 2 weeks with me and ate alone in night remembering her. And I never saw that girl in the University ever again. Thanks for patience reading!

What is the most diabolical thing someone has done to you, or you’ve done?

As a teenager, I only have an experience from middle school. I have always been excluded for being English in a french school, and being exceptional at maths. So I had few friends. One winter morning, I received a message from one of the popular girls I happened to have a small crush on (I was young ok?) saying she liked me. Me being me, and being anxious, I didn’t answer, thinking I’ll talk to her when I get to school. I was also gullible so I believed it.Come my arrival at school, and I see a crowd of 200 people, so I go to see what it’s about. Then I hear my name being chanted as people see me. Dread. All I felt was dread. They beckoned me to the center of the circle, and I see the girl. She was surrounded by friends and they where all laughing. At me. At this point I realized that all of this was to humiliate me. In front of everyone. That’s one of my worst experience from middle school.Hope you enjoyed, all the best -Billy
