What Was The Official Name For International Harevester Pickup Trucks In 1960

I have a 1959 International harvester pickup truck. I runs and drives good, but is geared too low. Is there a?

Taller tires would improve the gear ratio issue if you have fender room.

I think in 1959 International used the same lug bolt pattern as Ford used throughout the 60's and 70's so you could probably find a Ford truck rearend pretty cheap and stuff it under there with minimal effort. That would give you a lot of gear ratio options.

Finding a decent ring and pinion to re-gear your current axle will be tough, not a lot of aftermarket options for the old International trucks. I would probably just swap a different rear axle under it from something that has better parts and option availability.

Make sure you investigate the lug pattern if you go this route, I am working off of memory when I say the Ford was the same. I had a 1960 International that I put another rearend under for the same reason 25 years ago and I found one that used the same wheels but it might not have been the Ford.

If having the same lug bolt pattern in the back and front is important to you that is, if you don't mind them being different then you have almost unlimited options for cheap.

Good Luck!

How to find someone's criminal record w/o paying?

My husband was assaulted in June by a complete stranger. It was a case of mistaken identity. I finally got a hold of the victim/witness program today and found out the guys name who assaulted my husband. He has not been arrested yet, but the DA is going to charge this person with a felony. I am hoping this will be his 3rd strike. Can I see his criminal record? How do I go about getting it? I don't want to pay one of the online sites. I doubt they are accurate. According to the police officer, the guy who assaulted my husband wasn't even from our area. So can I still get an arrest record?

Is there any company who has ever designed a gasoline truck or heavy duty vehicle? How does it behave?

If you mean class 2 and 3 (Pick-up truck), their is still a lot of them manufactured today.Today, most truck of class 4 or higher come standard with Diesel engine. However, this was not always the case.In the 196x and early 197x, International, Chevrolet, GMC and other manufacturer have make several truck with gasoline engine. Actually, it was pretty common for truck of class 6. For example, in the 197x, the bluebird (yellow buses) taking the children to school were mostly “gas” powered. Some class 8 truck were also manufactured: For example, the Chevrolet C90 equip with a 427 gasoline engine. You may also find a reference to the the 1971 GMC 9500 equip with a 637 Cubic inch gas engine. How they behaved:In the 1960 and early 1970, most truck were significantly underpowered. So, you did have to use your transmission intensively. This was true for the gas or the diesel engine… but maybe more so for the gas engine that did have very little torque at the bottom of the RPM range. For what I know, the main difference was in gasoline consumption. When the truck was heavily loaded, the gasoline engine did cost much more to run then the diesel unit of the same performance.

If you could bring one tractor back into production today, which make and model would you choose?

Not sure if you mean tractor as in “tractor trailer” or tractor as in “that thing Farmer Brown uses”, so I’ve got one of each:1965 Case IH farm tractor. My grandfather used one almost exactly like this and I used to ride on the fender sometimes. The tractor I bought to maintain the property that remains of the farm is a smaller class, and blue, but if I could’ve found a new Case that carried the same color scheme I’d’ve grabbed it out of pure nostalgia. Even without all that, Case and International Harvester are names that have been synonymous with farm machinery for over 100 years. And,This is the Freightliner Classic XL. I had one just like this for several years. It’s not the most aerodynamic; it’s not exactly “urban friendly”; it’s definitely not the most maneuverable but with it’s long wheelbase (270″), it was the best riding truck I’ve ever driven. Best of all, with all the chrome and polished aluminum, with the external air cleaners and twin exhausts, it just looks like a truck is supposed to look.

What is the scariest moment you have had in a car?

It was many years ago. I had another argue with my girlfriend. When I was upset, I used to drive some 60km/38mi to the nearest beach. At the time there was a part of the road where it was uphill, very twisty and very narrow. There were place for one truck on each side of the road.Every truck driver knew how annoying was for us fellow drivers to follow their trucks at 20mph for like 10 miles distance, they used to help us with the blinkers when the road ahead was empty and safe to pass.As expected, when I was there I met a truck and slowed down. I came very close to the truck and I was ready to pass when I had the confirmation from the driver. The driver blinks to the left, to protect me from upcoming traffic but as my mind was not clear enough, I thought it was the right one and go for the pass. When my car was at about 80% procent of the truck another one comes from the opposite side. I don't have time to brake and not enough power to accelerate.I stayed so far to the right and close to the truck possible and like a miracle, all three of us passed through. Not even my mirrors scratched! From that day on, every time I'm upset and willing to drive, I bring the picture of that truck in my mind. They say don't drink and drive but driving while angry or upset, is as dangerous.

Do older cars from like the 1960's an 1970's have a shorter Vin Number than current cars?

Thanks for the info an im glad that it dont mean my car is hot lol an i tried the sites that one guy provided an both said i needed 17 digits when i tried entering the vin from my buick so i guess ill have to either try the dealership or the dmv cause id like to know the past history of it cause i know its a rare car cause they didnt make many in those 3 yrs an didnt make many cars with the sports copue package as well.

Why did the USSR produce mostly light trucks, such as ZIL-130 and GAZ-53, in 1960-1990?

I don't know if it played any role, but through my travelling in 1980s, in several rural places I was told that introduction of heavier Kamaz destroyed local roads.GAZ-53 was used as a light truck, but also as a pick-up truck, so huge numbers could be justified. That's Socialism for you. There is constant shortage of everything, enterprises are happy to get what they can, the same factory is producing effectively the same truck for five decades and everyone wants more of it. Eventually when the shortage became way too obvious, they went one step up, ripping of another model of Harvester International. Even then they needed Western help for tooling the factory
