What Was The Standard Photography Print Format In The 50s And 60s

Is 4x6 a standard photo size?

Basically, 4x6 is a common size of photos and has been a standard in the 35mm films days. The 35mm films images are about 24mm x 36mm, which is close to the ratio of 2:3. Therefore, those size close to 2:3 would be the ideal printing formats and that’s why 4x6 can be a standard. In addition, 4x6 might be the best size to carry or to put in albums and photoframes since 5x7 or 8x10 might be a little bit too big. Thus, 4x6 is widely used by people.Below are some of the other best output sizes for you to take as references.

What is the most popular printed size for fine art photography?

I would absolutely agree some pieces of work demand to be a specific size. That might be small and intimate or large and dominate. But a lot of work depends on viewing distance and gallery space and needs.I ran a gallery for five years. We could accommodate a large range of sizes, but some shows need more space and some shows need more images. If it was number of images to make the exhibition look right, then the size of the piece really mattered. Artists who couldn’t accommodate that requirement, wouldn’t be someone I would show.A rough median size that I have seen in galleries are pieces in the 16x20–20x30 inch size. But there is growing trend to have photographs in buildings that are at a minimum 40x60 inch prints.I would add that the artist’s intention starts manifesting the moment the idea occurs. Every decision of how to make that image dictates how it is ultimately viewed.

How much does an A4 paper (black and white) print out/photo copy cost in Kolkata? (min-max)

Photocopy costs ₹1 ~ ₹2. Almost universally the same. Some tend to charge in the denomination of 50 paisa (Like ₹0.50, ₹1.5) per page so that neither you nor the photocopier can return the change and end up charging 50 paisa more…However Print out costs ₹2 ~ ₹20. It depend upon the depth of the color in your print and also depends a lot upon the location where you live or from where gonna got to print. Rich localities tend to charge you more than the poor, deeper localities…

Why do old photos have wavy/dash edges?

I also have questions with "papers" that photographers used.Do they use different kinds of papers to make the photos, how many are there to use? Like,I really hate new photos that are thin, and they have prints lik "Kodak" all ovr on the back of the photo. Is there a chance that i can choose material(the paper) like ones that old photographers used in past?
P.S. how come some photos have white boarder on the edges and some just have the plain scene(hate those)?

What is the size of a photo taken from DSLR camera?

Let’s try to interpret this question.“Taken from”. Does this mean that it was formerly attached to the camera? Or do you mean “taken by”? I’ll assume the latter.“Size”. Do you mean linear size, the resolution of the image, or its file size? Unlike Ralph Ventura, I’m assuming that you don’t mean a print, mainly because I almost never make prints myself. The linear size is not very significant, but it’s clearly the size of the sensor. That depends on the DSLR, but could vary between 17x13 mm (Four Thirds) via 24x36 mm (“full frame”) to something about double that size. For stored files, you have a choice of formats, typically raw image data and JPEG. Only raw data is of interest; the rest is postprocessing conducted inside the camera, and can be set to various resolutions. The raw data typically has a little more than the stated sensor resolution, so that geometry corrections won't limit the size. Modern DSLRs have resolutions in the order of 20 to 50 MP.If you’re talking about the file size, the raw image typically takes up about 1 byte per pixel, maybe a little less, mainly because of compression. So you could be looking at between 15 and 50 MB.EDIT in response to Abhishek Anshuwali's comment: I don't believe any current consumer camera can create out-of-camera images 1.5 GB in size. But of course you can stitch images together as a panorama, and then you can greatly exceed this size. The current record stands at 846 GP, a panorama of Kuala Lumpur - Wikipedia: Panaxity. They're too polite to say how many GB that is, but you can reckon in the order of 1 or more byte per pixel, so it would be at least 846 GB. Find others at List of largest photographs - Wikipedia.

How do I resize a photo to 35 mm x 35 mm?

Open the photo in Photoshop. Go to the Image Tab, and go to Image size. There you shall have the option to change and enter the exact size you want and the resolution you want it in. Uncheck the constrain aspect ratio check box. This should help. In case you want to modify in terms of pixels, paint is useful. Or even picassa too. Crop function is the one you are looking for.

I need to resize a photo to 3.5cm X 4.5cm with 45-50 KB file size. How do I do it with Picasa?

Just go to this link:Compress and Resize Image for your formI found this better than any other website for resizing of photos for the sake of competitive exams, where as other websites contain annoying ads.
