How is life without gadgets?

I remember life in the 1970s. We had a landline phone, no call waiting, basic tv, no cable, a radio and television record player. Technically, those are “gadgets” as they were technology for that period. But they would not be considered basic necessities by today's standards.I can tell you life was simpler and less expensive. We had quality time together as a family, played until sometimes after dark (in the summer and on weekends) with the whole neighborhood. Our parents didn't “Facebook”, “Twitter” or any other social media. They paid attention to us. Often it would be kids vs grown-ups in baseball, football, etc. We caught fireflies, flew Korea, built homemade treehouses and forts. We learned how to survive in nature by fishing, hunting, picking raspberries and honeysuckle. We would ice skate on a real pond not an indoor rink. That same pond we learned how to fish in and also swim. We interacted with adults and peers in person through play and face to face communication with no cell phone attached to the hip (and occasionally combat fist on fist…no guns or knives.)No video games. Not until around 1980 when Atari hit ( if I recall) and soon Texas instruments started competing next to another company that is on the tip of my tongue thus starting the era of competitive video/computer game systems. That was the beginning of kids being stuck indoors glued to video games. Shortly followed by radar ranges, now known as the microwave and cable TV which we couldn't get living in a forest. Only people in town along main streets could get it.Soon TV's had remotes around 1981 and we're digital along with clock radios and everything else. The computer age was about to explode and so was society and social development/interaction. Kids stopped playing baseball, football, etc in our

How do I get Google gadgets to work?

I just opened Google Sidebar. Most of my usual gadgets were missing. I looked in the folder "My Google Gadgets" - they appear to be all there. But when I try "Open with Google Desktop", for a gadget missing on the sidebar, I get "Unable to verify integrity of the gadget". Also, when I try to install any Google gadget all I get is "Error Adding". What went wrong? - it had all been working nicely for a year or two.

What were some cool tech gadgets used in the 90s, which are no longer used today?

*sigh* pretty flip phones! I used to love the phones of the 90s to the 2000s or till whenever stupid Apple introduced the bar touchscreen design. I do love Apple phones but I hate that they have sucked out the innovation from other phone designers, basically reducing every smartphone today to a very similar design.I was travelling by metro the other day when I noticed the phones in everyone's hands! I was pretty shocked to see that I couldn't differentiate if a phone was an iPhone or a Samsung or any other phone brand because they all look the same (at least at first glance)This part has been bothering me for quite a while but I wake up every day in the hopes that one day, I will be re-introduced to fancy phones like:1. MotorazrThe first ‘slim’ phone to be introduced in the market, having a Motorazr ensured that all eyes were on you. The sleek design, the beautiful colour (silver), and most importantly, a flip phone, the Motorazr was definitely one of Motorola’s best phones till date! 2. Sony Ericsson Walkman SeriesThe Walkman series came in different models and designs but the selling point (as is obvious) is the sound quality and its association with the Walkman brand. 3. Nokia N seriesThe N-series revolutionized the mobile phone industry and it was for people who wanted a feature-rich phone rather than just as a fancy showpiece. The N-series was more famous as a gaming-friendly phone (if my memory serves right) but it also had other features like music, photo and video recording, sending and receiving photos and videos, and also internet supportSource: Phones to Smartphones-Are phone designers lazy? - GeekFence *sigh* one can only dream I suppose!

Where does Batman get his gadgets from?

When in doubt, ask this guy:“The weaponry comes from the Research and Development department of Wayne Tech. There is a special division that works on non-lethal weapons that is headed up by Lucius Fox, president of Wayne Enterprises. This includes grapplers, body armor, batarangs, and smoke bombs. The Batmobile was designed by Jefferson Edison, a retired race car driver and established car builder. He does maintenance of all systems on the car, and integrates new systems he designs into the car. He also works with Fox to make things like the Batplane and Batboat.Edmund Neumeuller does the special gadgets like the filament wire I swing on, springs in boots, gloves that deliver files from fingertips, and the materials that make my body armor lighter and stronger.Alfred Pennyworth buys components and wires them together for my computer equipment in the Batcave. He also works with Fox to integrate hologram keyboards and screens into the Batsuit and Batcave. Each of these men know my secret identity, and have sworn to help me uphold law and order in Gotham.”

What are some of the coolest products and gadgets of all the time?

ThisAs sophisticated and complex as modern technology is, nothing quite beats the pen and paper. You can design new tech, map out your thoughts and run a society with this simple and effective combo.

What are all the special gadgets found in an ambulance?

It depends on the ambulance. At my job, we have multiple levels of service and equipment varies on the level of service. Our lowest level is Basic Life Support (BLS). Their “gadgets” are quite limited to basic supplies like bandaging, splinting/backboarding supplies, oxygen, bedpans/urinals, blankets, blood pressure cuffs/stethoscopes, gurney (and stair-chair), and a semi-automatic defibrillator (AED) (there are a few other items I’ve left out but nothing that big). The most common level of service is Advanced Life Support (ALS has a paramedic) which includes all of the BLS supplies except instead of an AED, they carry a full-blown defibrillator/cardiac monitor that is capable of performing 12-lead EKGs, pulse oximetry, end-tidal CO2 monitoring and non-invasive blood pressure. They also carry a glucometer for measuring blood sugar. Not really gadgets, but they many kinds of medications, including narcotics, and equipment for giving medications via intravenous, intraosseous (in the bone), intramuscular, subcutaneous, oral or nasal methods. They also have set-ups for providing Continuous Positive Airway Pressure, helping those with respiratory distress breath easier via a mask as opposed to putting in an endotrachial tube (which they also carry). Then there is critical care transport (CCT), which is what I do. I have all the same equipment as the ALS except my defibrillator/monitor is also capable of monitoring invasive pressures in addition to non-invasive blood pressures. invasive pressures may be attached to a line in a peripheral artery (usually radial, femoral or brachial arteries), pulmonary arteries (a central venous catheter that is floated through the right atrium, through the right ventricle and out the pulmonary artery to the lungs), or to a “bolt” that is inserted into the cranium to measure intracranial pressures. We also carry IV pumps to give precise flows of continuous fluids/medications. We also carry ventilators for managing the breathing of patients with either an endotrachial tube or a tracheostomy tube. Instead of carrying CPAP equipemnt, our ventilator will function in a CPAP or Bi-Level CPAP mode (which patients tend to tolerate better than standard CPAP) by carrying various masks. We carry all the drugs paramedics carry but we carry many more drugs that they do not.
