What Where The Names Of The To Twin Brothers In The Rock Band Styxs

What are the best classic rock bands other than Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Dire Straits?

When I started getting into music in the '80s, there were some bands that had some ok albums, with a standout track.  I later realized that these tracks - different than the rest of the album, in most cases - turned out to be cover songs.  One of the covers was done "live", and the band threw credit to the originators of the song, Sweet.  I didn't look up the band at the time; I tended not to like the original version of cover songs. Twenty years later, I came across Sweet on the iTunes Store, and gave them a listen. It turns out that five bands that I liked covered their songs!  And I actually liked the original versions just as much as the covers - and in some cases much more. Most bands that I liked started off heavy and hard rocking, then they became more commercial in order to reach the next level. Sweet did it the other way around; performing power pop songs written by a successful team (Chapman/Chin)- then breaking away with their own heavier songs.

Who, in your opinion, is the greatest American band of all time?

Hmm good question I am English . if you asked me who was the best English /Britishband or best band ever . easy obviously the Beatles’but American band . here is list of my all time favs. :The Beach Boys, The Byrds, J efferson Airplane, Wall of Voodoo, REM,10,000 Maniacs, Innocence Mission, Dream Syndicate , Thin White Rope, Throwing Muses , Pixies. Low, The National.I did say this was my list . So obviously few would have heard of Wall of Voodoo, Dream Syndicate /Thin White Rope etc (suggest you look on you tube .These are some of the greatest bands I have ever seen live or listened to on record etc in 45 years of gig going (1973/2018) over 1000 gigs.Wall of Voodoo are my personal fav . I saw them live 9 times in the 1980’s and got to meet the band members’. best band I ever saw live by some distance .But if you want a more mainstream answer it would be a toss up between the Beach Boys and REM. I would go for REM I think. They released great music from the early 1980’s until their last album in the 00’s.The Beach Boys have “pet sounds” of course but IMO were not as consistent throughout their career as “the mighty Georgians’” Was lucky enough to see them in Spring 1984 at the Tin Can Club in Birmingham (England) infront of around 100 people . Most of whom were dancing around on the dance floor to tracks like “Wolves lower” , pretty persuasion “its a mystery to me etcthat early REM era was very exciting . Later they became more cerebal

Who are the unappreciated members of famous bands?

This may strike people as an odd choice, but the Panozzo brothers (the twins who played bass and drums for Styx) got absolutely zero recognition for their work. That’s because the other three members wrote and sang all of the music, but the Panozzos were almost invisible despite being a very effective rhythm section. Want proof: in the “Kilroy Was Here” concert film, their characters (who had no lines) were called “Vanish” and “Hyde.” John (the drummer) did manage to get on a few “top drummer” lists in the late 1970s, but was never a household name. Chuck (the bass player) played pretty simple parts a lot of the time, but they served the music well.

Songs with girls names in them?

perferably songs from the 70s and 80s classic rock era. I named my first dog after a song by the looking glass that goes Brandy your a fine girl what a good wife you would be. and now I'm getting another female yorkie so if you couls give me a song that would be great, and some good names if you'd like but for sure a song.

Remember Band Logos?

I think the current generation of rock fans don't really know these, but back in the day, a band was almost *required* to have a cool logo.

Today, I guess they're seen as passe &"cheesy".

But I think a few of them were great works of design. I'd be curious to see any new ones if they *are* still being made & I'm just unaware of it.

I noticed most metal bands do the tattoo/'sharp edge" thing.

But here go some of my fave classics:
