What Will Be The Price For The Ford Atlas

I'm driving to Alaska, what do I need?

I am moving from Rhode Island to Alaska in about a month and half, and my car should be able to make it. The tires on the car are fairly new, I got them in June and they're meant for bad weather conditions....I just put a new battery and a new belt in it and it runs pretty good as it's always been maintained. It's a Ford Taurus LX. I can't figure out how much money in gas it will cost for an 85 hour trip. Does anyone have an idea on what I'd be looking at?

The reason I'm trying to drive is because I will have a job when I arrive in Alaska, and need something to get around in once I'm up there. I have a job here too, but since I have bills to pay here until I leave, it's hard to put a lot of money away at a time for the trek up there. My job is weird hours because it's 35 hours a week, but sometimes morning shifts and sometimes evenings. What's a good way to raise money for the drive?

Is there places I can sell my useless junk, such as a laptop with a messed up screen or a 5-CD stereo system? I have plenty of electronics and **** I could get rid of before I leave since I don't need to take it with me.....

How much does it cost to ride in an ambulance?

Question: How much does it cost to ride in an ambulance?Like the other people have written, there’s no hard and fast answer. In my area? Depending on if you’re a resident or non-resident and if I do ALS or BLS will determine your bill. For clarification, ALS for my area includes:administration of nitroglycerin fromnitroglycerin from my ambulance’s stocknitrous oxide administrationAn IV attempt (doesn’t need to be successful)An IO attempt (also doesn’t need to be successful)Everything else? BLS.As for cost? Generally it’s going to be around $850 or $1120 for a resident. For a non-resident that increases to above $1000 regardless of ALS or BLS (ALS costs more.)Mileage-wise? Its around $20 a mile, so theoretically your bill could be around $1000 from the closest point in our district to the closest hospital for someone that lives in our district, all the way to over $2000 for someone at the farthest reaches of our district that wants to go to the higher-level hospitals in our district and gets an ALS skill.

What will actually happen when G12 coolant is mixed with regular types, including with those that claim to mix with "ANY type" of antifreeze?

Many companies like VW and Audi recommend using G12/G13 coolants on their system. And that's only because G12 has better lubricating capacities (which is why it is sometimes called "lifelong coolant"). This is given by the various phosphates in the mixture. The regular coolant (let's take Prestone as our reference), on the other hand does not contain phosphates. The reason for this is that water in Europe (that's where the manufacturers are) contains higher concentrations of minerals like phosphates than that found in the waters of, say, US. Other minerals that might be present in higher quantities may be metallic salts that are way less stable to stay in place for the radiation job. This gives us the answer to what happens when G12 and Prestone is mixed. The metallic ions from Prestone and the phosphate rich G12 produce jelly-like depositions that promote corrosion. I've come across cases where entire radiator hoses have blown off because of this mixing, and that's technically because of clogging, congestion, built water pressure and, of course, weakening of the hose.As I was reading this question I was wondering why you would ask this in the first place. Immediately I thought, "Maybe he's considering doing this." In that case, my suggestion is: DO NOT take this risk unless you're going to die if you won't.I understand, G12, G12++ or G13, for that matter, are all way too expensive. If you're looking to change your coolant, make sure you flush your radiator system a couple of times and then add Prestone (or any other regular coolant). Never run both of them together.A sidenote: if you're ever using water with any coolant of yours (yes, diluting coolants is no problem) and if you're using G12, please use distilled water only.

How do you clean fabric shoes... like vlados?

If you're careful, you can clean fabric shoes in the washing machine.

Place each shoe inside its own pillowcase.

Put them in the washing machine, along with two to three towels, so the shoes don't rattle around.

Add a color-safe laundry detergent.

Wash the shoes and towels on the delicate cycle at 30 degrees.

Remove from the machine and air dry.

How long does it take to replace a wheel bearing?

How long does it take to replace a wheel bearing? To get to and replace a wheel bearing on one wheel on a car or light truck is probably less than a 1 hour job in most cases for someone who knows what they are doing and does this kind of work regularly. They will have the correct parts, the tools, the right lift, a well lighted and roomy place to work. All of his tools will be the correct tools for the job and he will know where all of his tools are.If he gets in there and finds damage to the hub, it will take longer. For one thing, he probably won’t have a new hub handy and will have to see if the local parts shop has one in stock. If they don’t, then they will have to get one from their warehouse, which could take a day if they have it in stock. Then more time, if they have to bring it in. If you have a common vehicle, the parts should be in stock at the distribution warehouse. Depending on where the vehicle is, this could take a day or two to come in. Faster parts availability if your car is in Chicago vs a little town in NW Montana.Even if there is damage to the hub, the extra time to replace the hub is minimal. The time to get parts could be days if the car is not common. A hub for a Ford Crown Victoria is going to be readily available in most places and could be overnighted to just about anywhere in the US. A hub for a 959 Porsche, a Ford GT, or a DeLorean is going to take longer to source.

Transmission drive not working?

Many thanks to all of you who responded to my transmission question. I can now speak a little bit more intellegently with prospective auto mechanics when looking for somneone to repair my transmission. Also, I have recieved two responses requesting I remove my email and phone number from my message. At your suggestions, I would if I knew how but, I don't see any links that allow me to remove them from my original message. Also, what are the possible ramifications of me listing my email and phone number with my message ?
