The word "Liberal" means "open" or "plenty" or "diverse".A liberal portion of pasta means a whole lot of pasta.A Degree in Liberal Arts means you study various topics instead of just one major.Liberals are people who are diverse, and open to new ideas. Liberals are not afraid of change, are not afraid to try new things.Conservative means "narrow", "same" or "constant".A conservative portion of pasta is just a little bit of pasta.A Conservative style of clothing is a very plain, simple, common outfit.Conservatives are people who prefer the "tried and true" instead of trying something new. They value tradition and conformity. They value the "Status quo", meaning things as they are, or even wanting to go back to the way they used to be; or how they imagine they used to be.Generally, Liberals have a positive view of the future,and a negative view of the past.Conservatives have a positive view of the past,and a negative view of the future.Generally, Liberals are more likely to question authority figures,while Conservatives are more likely to follow authority figures.Generally, Liberals are more likely to value Science,and Conservatives are more likely to value Religion.Generally, Liberals are more likely to support a government that helps those who cannot help themselves, and protect people from those who might do them harm, while Conservatives are more likely to support a government that leaves people to fend for themselves, thinking that corporations can perform the tasks necessary for a society.Moderate means in the middle, or balanced.A moderate portion of pasta is a standard serving.Liberalism and Conservatism can be thought of as two extremes, like Black and White.
