Monty has a great name. I breed cats and one of my stud boys is named Monty (he is an australian tiffanie) and many people who buy my kittens call them Monty. SO yes it is an adorable name- I love it- and it suits most kittens. Good lick with your new kitten :)

There is another category (“Category,” that’s an okay name, by the way) of unacceptable names: triple crown winners. No self respecting cat will answer to “Secretariat.” Political names are a possibility, but be certain of the cat’s party affiliation before you name it. I have know some cats that could have worn the name “Hillary” with pride. I still have the scratch marks, as a matter of fact. Some of them love to be called by porn star names. If you are a James Bond fan, Pussy Galore would be a fine name. James Bond, yeah that works too.Just noticed that your 1st cat is named Hammerhead. Most of my cats were adults when they came to me. Frequently they had shelter names that may or may not have been their original ones. When they came home, I just observed the cat, visited with them and generally waited until a name came to me. Many times the cat would have been in my lap staring at me, when inspiration struck. Was it mental telepathy from kitty, knowing we humans have a need to label everything important (and not so important) to us, or our subconscious mind mulling over the problem until it rises to our conscious mind? I don't know how it works, I just know it does. Somehow over the years all of my kitties have had names that really suit them. I have a shelter rescue now who had the name of Chloe. It was her shelter name, but somehow it seemed to suit her, so I left her with that name. ChloeOne of my old dogs had a shelter name that didn't suit him at all. I asked them what was his real name when he was surrendered, they told me. It definitely suited him and he was very happy to have me address him with it, getting excited and wagging his tail.Blue
