What Would Be A Good Title For This Book I

What is a good title for a book?

Hard to answer such an open-ended question, but I’ll try. By open-ended I mean that you’ve provided no further information about the book, and that influences your choice for a title. It ought to give a prospective reader at least a small hint about the theme or plot.It should contain at least one word that’d be hard to forget. If at all possible, it ought to have a “rhythm” when you say it aloud or even when you think the words or word contained within. It might be “catchy” - like commercials, a word or phrase that sticks in the mind.It ought not to be a title that’s been used already; some are, but I don’t believe that to be good practice. You might play around with 2-part titles, the ones using a semicolon separating the parts, like “A Play on Words: The Story of Me”. Get my drift? If your title seems too vague, make sure any cover/jacket illustrations reveal more information.About all I can think of right now. Best to you.

What’s a good title for a book?

When you think about how many readers choose a book or avoid a book based on its title, it’s easy to get a bit overwhelmed when you’re choosing a title for your book. Here are a few pointers, which are covered in more detail in this post.1. The title should convey the genreIf someone reads the title, they should know what they're in for, and it should give them the feeling of the genre. There's nothing worse than a book that suffers from an identity crisis that starts with its title.2. Consider other authors' habitsLook at bestselling books in the same genre as yours, or authors you enjoy reading in that genre, and mimic the titling method. Do they use descriptive language? Is it one word? Two words? More than two words?3. Begin with single-word titlesStart off with creating single-word titles. Remember, there are many books with single-word titles that do well. Some of the best are Carrie, Christine, Cujo, Jaws, and so on. Single-word titles tend to catch the reader’s eye quickly.4. Move on to combinations if neededIf single-word titles aren't working for you, then start to combine the words from the list of potential titles you’ve started to create. Start thinking of potential two-word titles. Some great two-word books are Animal Farm, The Alchemist, and The Help. Longer titles that do well are all of the Harry Potter novels, and most of the novels written by Robert Jordan, specifically his Wheel of Time series.5. Now, mull it overDetermining your book's title should not be a quick process. Keep in mind that your book’s title could literally mean the difference between publishing success or failure. That’s why after coming up with a list of potential titles, put the list aside for a day or two before making your decision. Give yourself time to mull over the potential titles in your mind, and even time to ask others for their opinion. Finally, narrow it downOnce you’ve made your list and made sure that the titles aren’t too similar to other titles or too generic, then you have a title. You should use this title when querying agents or publishers. Working titles are great, but it's better to start off the search with a well-thought-out title that speaks to the heart of the book. The closer a book is to completion, the more likely agents and publishers are to accept it.
