I wrote a birthday song for my friend and I’m wondering if I should perform it for her?
Depends on your friendship. If it is a lousy composition but the love is there in the song then she should appreciate the gesture. If it is a good song then appreciate it even more. If the friendship is so-so then I maybe wouldn’t take the chance of being hurt by her non-appreciation.In any case, I would sing it for a couple of honest, repeat honest feedback, friends and see what they think of the songs and if they maybe have any helpful advice concerning the song.

Happy Birthday. That would be a good start... I'm not sure how religious your family is, but "I can only Imagine" by Mercyme (I think) would be a good spiritual song. "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban would be good for how much your mom means to you etc. And if you have a patriotic mother you could sing "Amazing Grace" or even the national anthem if you want to go that far (but then you would have to get a flag and everyone would stand up and if your mom is old that might not work) Ask your dad what your mom's favorite songs are (or ask her friends) she would like songs from her old college days too I am sure. She will be happy to hear you sing for her no matter what you sing. (unless you can't sing, then she will fake it and it will be awkward but that's ok haha) Good luck!
