Does a cough cause upper back pain?

It can in certain situations. How to get rid of back pain caused by big boobs?

The size depends on the rest of your body structure....try seeing a chiropractor....they may be able to help you with spinal adjustments. Ask family, friends, and co-workers for referrals, make sure you are dealing with a good one. This would require an ongoing process, your spine will constantly be pulled out of alignment. Changing bra size may give a little relief but will not really solve the problem, without surgery, the weight of your breasts will remain the same and cause stress to your back......Good Luck

Anyone else have upper back pain in pregnancy?

Yes, it does effect your back. My back hurts when it's that time of the month...Pregnancy is related to that sort of stuff in a way and it does effect different parts of your body, not just your stomach. Yes, the weight from the baby in your stomach is probably the main thing that's causing it. I would get a heating pad and heat that up in the microwave and put it where it hurts...It worked for me!! You can get them at Walmart. =) Congratulations on the baby....26 weeks is a real accomplishment!!!! Hope all turns out well.

Can neck pain and upper back stiffness and soreness cause vertigo??? Please Help?

Neck pain and upper back stiffness and soreness will not cause vertigo, but the cause of the neck and upper back problems could also be causing the vertigo.

Vertigo can be caused by multiple factors. When you have neck pain with vertigo (they can always occur together but often do not), you do, as another answerer noted, want to rule out infections as the cause. But odds are your pain and vertigo are coming from your neck. When the vertebrae in the spine are not moving properly, the muscles, ligaments, and discs around them have to work harder to hold you up. This increased work can lead to injury over time(this is assuming you didn't have a recent injury like a car accident or fall).

The joints of the upper neck (the first three on each side) have many nerve endings in them that give feedback to the brain to help with balance and equilibrium. When there is injury in the joint and/or there are not proper mechanics in these upper neck joints, these nerve endings can send signals that don't match up with the signals coming from your eyes and your inner ears (other places that help with balance). When these signals don't match up, you get dizziness or vertigo.

You need to get checked out by a Chiropractor. They will be able to rule out bad things like infections and the like, and they will be able to evaluate the neck and upper back mechanically. Sure, you could take pain relievers and wait enough time and the body will begin to feel better, but the underlying cause (improper mechanics) will still be there and you will get this again sometime in the future.

Go get checked out and good luck!

I just saw the second posting: most likely you don't have a disc problem. You don't need an MRI until you get checked out properly. Odds are you will get great improvement and/or resolution of your symptoms and won't have to spend the $1200.00 to $2400.00 for the MRI.
