What Would The Best Bleach Product For Lightening Hair Be

Can I lighten my hair with toilet bleach?

I have blonde hair and it's natural but i think it got an ash blonde so I wondered it a could put a little bit of toilet bleach, shampoo and a tea spoon of baking soda and put it on my hair for say 3 minutes and then wash it off, what do you think?!?

Can you get hair bleaching products at Wal-Mart?

bleach is not going to take the black dye from your hair. what you need to do is strip your hair, which can be very costly if you do it at a salon. i've done it myself before and it was perfect...go to sally beauty supply and ask the person working there what products they recommend for you and the steps to do it (it's a little complicated, but these people know what they're talking about)

EDIT:
i've only seen them at beauty supply stores before, but luckily you can order online from sally beauty.

i'm pretty sure that's the one i used; you will also need a deep conditioner (more than one if you plan on dying your hair the same day). this is HELL on hair, but as long as you deep condition it should be alright.

EDIT #2: please, please, please don't bleach your hair to remove the dye!! i have seen and done this many times...a high-lift bleach will lighten naturally black hair; it will not remove black dye!! it's going to turn it orange. stripping the hair removes all artificial color from the strand, giving you a clean base to start with--then you can dye it whatever color you want.

Splat lightening bleach?

I used the same stuff to bleach my hair. I have thick naturally curly hair, and I only need one box. And ended up only using about half of what was there anyways. A little goes a LONG way with all those "splat" hair dye products. (or at least in my experiences they have) I bleached my hair and it turned BRIGHT orange. (totally normal) now this is a tip I would reccomend if you're looking to cause the LEAST damage to your hair. After you've bleached, leave your hair alone for AT least 3 days before dying it. It gives you hair a breather and the color ends up coming out better. I dyed My hair with an ash brown and turned out dark blonde. All the orange completely gone, so it's great that you'll be using an ash color, Because the ash tones balance out the orange. :) good luck!!

Are there alternatives to bleaching to lighten hair?

Your best alternative would be to consult a professional stylist trained in fashion colors and talk about options. Some stylists may even be willing to lighten/lift hair properly for you to dye it a fashion color at home. Especially since you are not wanting to use bleach. There are different professional methods to lighten hair for fashion colors, but as far as I know, they all use a developer just like bleach does and they all damage the hair cuticle to some degree. Using the wrong products or combination of products will damage hair as much if not more than just using bleach designed to be used on hair. With lightening hair a lot of factors come into play. The condition of the hair before lightening-healthy, processed, damaged, porous, the type of products used to lighten hair (there are many) and the level of and type of developer used to lighten the hair. There is also how it is applied and what is required to process it once applied. Drugstore box kits to make hair blonde are not designed nor intended to be used to lighten hair before a fashion color dye is applied. There could be a chemical reaction to the products being used in combination which would actually damage hair more than hair bleach actually would.

I was warned that once you bleach your body hair you have to continue doing it (which I don't mind) and it grows back thicker (which I do mind). Any body got some input on this? Also this is my first time, does anyone have any suggestions on what the best/easiest product for body hair bleaching is? Thanks for the help.

Does bleaching wet hair work as well as bleaching dry hair?

No it doesn't because as the hair is wet, it's diluting the strength of the peroxide. This means you won't get the full lifting properties from the bleach. The peroxide is the liquid that u mix with the bleach powder to activate it, this is what the water dilutes.Another issue is, if the hair is wet it hasn't got the level of absorbsion that dry hair does as the hair is water logged.Dry hair is far more porous and will suck up the creamy formula paste and then become wet from the product application. So no it's not advisable to bleach wet hair. You scalp is also far more protected, as your body produces an invisible layer of oil covering the skin especially over the scalp area. This acts as a natural barrier, between the strong chemical formula of the bleach and the skin. Especially along the sensitive area of the hairline, this could end up leaving the skin inflamed in certain areas and possibly even small blisters appearing. We all have this layer of oil on our skin, however if our hair has recently been shampooed the sulphates dissolves and removes this oil film. The skin then needs to produce, build up and excret the substance to cover the scalp once again.Even if you only wet your hair not shampooed it, the water will have rinsed off and removed some of the the oil layer from your scalp.Trust me if you doing a full head bleach on a freshly washed hair plus you may need added heat for more lift, you going to experience a helluve strong itchy and burning sensation. So preferably don't wet hair before bleach.

Does waiting a few days between bleaching your hair reduce the damage caused?

*SIGH*It’s not the days between, but the products and process used. So no, waiting between bleaching sessions doesn’t automatically reduce damage.Which means a well trained, licensed colorist familiar with extreme color changes and fashion colors could probably do the change in an 8–12 hour session using the right products. It will also be expensive, but better than chemical burns and baldness. And an improperly trained, unfamiliar with fashion colors and drastic color changes colorist or home DIY dyer can totally fry or melt the hair in one session of bleaching. And even if they were to wait a few days or few weeks between bleach sessions, they can still massively fry, melt or damage the hair at any point.Bleach damage is reduced by using the proper products, the proper way. Time between bleachings is less important than using the proper products and processing. You can melt off your hair in ONE bleaching session, all it takes is ignorance and improper product usage. You fry your hair in one session, no amount of time between sessions is going to magically restore your hair’s health, no matter what after-care you do.A well-trained colorist knows that bleach is not the only option for lightening hair, though it is a common belief among the poorly trained or DIY home dyer. They also have access to products for lightening, removing color from, and reducing the damage to hair that are not easily available to the general public AND the knowledge in how to apply them for the best end results.

Can hair bleach be applied on teeth to whiten them?

What would you use to lighten natural level 3-4 hair to a blonde?

0:00-0:59Hair developer is a product that contains hydrogen peroxide which is what opens up the hair cuticle and allows the colour to deposit.   Essentially the number indicated on bottle refers to the amount of hydrogen peroxide it contains.   The more or higher the level the more the cuticle will open up.   10 vol = 3% the weakest. Useful if your going a darker colour if you don't want to lift your original hair colour. Also the one you would likely use with a toner.  Same level or if toning or pre lightening.   20 vol = 6% Ideal for grey coverage or colouring 1 or two shades within your colour 1-2 levels lift  30 vol = 9% suitable if your trying to lighten hair. Open cuticle enough when trying to lighten hair. 3 shades or more works best.  2-3 levels lift  40 vol = 12% mainly for professional use. Best used on virgin hair. Use with hi lift which colours and tones hair at the same time. 1 part hair dye 2 parts developer 3 level lift or more
