What Would You Think Of A Physician Who Did This.is There Something Wrong With Me Or The World

Ive been sick for a week whats wrong with me?

Just go to the doctor! It will cost you more money the more you wait! The more you wait the worse it may get, and if you go to the doctor a long time from now, medications may be more expensive because you might be needing more or really special medications! Go! Make an appointment A.S.A.P! Nothing is more important than your health--there is always plenty of money going around in the world, but there's only one of you, and with you being the only you, all you have is your health.

I need a surgeon/physician with knowledge of Relapsing Polychondritis ASAP, PLEASE...I will travel ANYWHERE!?

Since June 2013 I've been dealing w/my 1st case of Polychondritis. My inflammation is not on the upper part of the ear, but rather in the bowl & inner part of my ear(s). I had a biopsy done in July that came back as "Chondrodermatis Nodularis Helicis" & my dermatologist told me he wanted. me to get in to see an ENT to have that part of the cartilage surgically removed w/in 2wks. Now 6months & 8 specialists later, I don't care how far I need to travel(I've been to Mayo in MN 2x & live in the Milw. area)as long as I can get to a doctor who knows what he/ she will be dealing with & are willing to put "Humpty" me, back together again. The nerve pain that travels through my head, eye, & jaw on the (R)side the most, my left side just began 5wks ago or so & the pain is not even close to the other. About Sept., my (R)side of my face became not numb, but "heavy" & tingling, before the constant stabbing/shooting sharp pain begins for night & the cartilage itches. PLEASE I NEED NAMES OF DOCTORS.

What would you do if you knew something was wrong with you, had lab tests to prove it, but every doctor you saw dismissed your symptoms or pushed you off on another doctor?

A mystery illness that doctors don't attend to seriously sounds really tough. Not getting a productive answer must take quite the psychological toll as well. I am truly sorry about your problem.I too wouldn't have known what to do either except the New York Times' Gina Kolata recently published an article precisely about this very issue, mystery illnesses that baffle doctors, When the Illness Is a Mystery, Patients Turn to These Detectives. It turns out that at least in the US there's a new federal government initiative operating through the NIH for exactly such conditions. Called the Undiagnosed Diseases Network, it encompasses 12 clinical centers including one at the NIH.I would check out their web-site, get in touch with the administrators of this program and go from there.Their web-site: Undiagnosed Diseases NetworkContact information from their web-site:ContactFor more information about the UDN or application process, individuals can contact the UDN Coordinating Center by:TelephoneToll-free from USA, Canada, Mexico: 1-844-RINGĀ  UDN (746-4836)From all other countries: 1-617-432-2344Email: UDN@hms.harvard.edu (link sends e-mail)Or Visit the UDN Coordinating Center Website (link is external)The external link: Undiagnosed Diseases NetworkAll the very best in your effort to get a proper diagnosis and treatment. Thanks for the R2A, Cheryl Witton.

Is it Rude for a Receptionist to Call a 21-year-old Woman "Hon"?

Wow...I am the only person here who agrees with you.

Terms of endearment have no place in the professional world. Simply put, one does not call one's customers by anything other than their name. Period. To do otherwise implies a much different relationship.

For those saying she probably didn't remember her name, our questioner asked for her medical records. I am sure she gave her name at the start of the call. Who calls their doctor's office and doesn't start off with "Hi, this is " ? The receptionist knew her name and probably had written it down. She simply didn't bother to use it.

I have ALWAYS taken offense to total strangers calling me "hon" or "sweetie" or "sweetheart". I am none of those things to anyone but my family. It is rude, insensitive, and patronizing to call others by names like these. I have always made a point of calling others by either their title (until invited to do otherwise) or by Mr. or Mrs So-and-So (until invited to do otherwise). I find it rude to not be offered the same respect and dignity I offer others.

Often, even when I politely ask people to call me by my name and not "hun" they forget. It isn't until I call them "sweetie" in return that they "get it".

EDIT: Good Job...I would be upset if you called me "sweaty" as well. I believe you meant "sweetie"...of course I could be assuming too much.

Newborn is making a weird choking-type sound, please help?

I have a newborn that is about a week old now. Whenever my wife and I are ready to go to bed, we put him in the crib next to us, where he starts making a weird choking sound.

I recorded it on my camera, here's a link for an example

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfGxOqVEiaU

I went to the doctor a couple days ago for him to check it out, he said his heart and lungs sound fine, and that most newborns just make weird sounds. It doesn't sound normal to me, please help if you have ever experienced this type of problem.

Thanks.
