I know everyone says they are bad for you. I'm just bought a Monster Rehab, and im looking at the back and it says it has Vitamins C, B3,B5,B6,B12 and calcium. Is this drink REALLY that bad for you? Because it seems like it has a lot of good stuff. So, what's the deal? (By the way, I never ever drink this stuff. I do maybe once a month, im not one of those people who are addicted)
Monster energy drink bad?
Of course it's bad. You might as well be drinking a pop after working out! Same amount of sugar, and u get the caffeine. You are making your heart speed up in a good way while working out but once you take an energy drink you are speeding it up the bad way- both ways and you are causing injury eternally. All energy drinks like that are junk and a media scam. It's energy all right- right from caffeiene and sugar..so junk and drugs (yes caffeine is a drug). Working out will give you REAL energy after about a week of doing it. You don't need that drink. That drink will only make your workouts meaningless and give your body a hard time. It's the equivalent to sucking back some sugar sticks.. As someone already pointed out, those drinks (like any other drug) give a high and a crash. Working out should give you a high all day long if you got enough sleep the previous night. You're definitely on the wrong path with this scam drink. And despite popular belief, you are more awake but your forcing your body awake with taht drink and so it concentrates LESS. So all the things you know and learn could have been ten times better ditching the stuff. Fibre is actually said to keep people awake...odd but true. You can google natural food sources that help with concentration..

Is it bad that I make my coffee with Monster energy drinks instead of water?
Okay.Kid.You have a problem.See, caffeine is a drug, just like marijuana and cocaine. It doesn’t have the same effects, of course, but it’s a stimulant and too much of it can lead to health problems. And like marijuana and cocaine, you can develop an addiction to caffeine.I know what my bio says, and I’m not really addicted to caffeine. It wakes me up, but I don’t need it like alcoholics need beer. You, however, are most likely addicted to caffeine.Sleep is necessary to survive. After just 24 hours of no sleep, the lack can make you act like you’re drunk, and at 36 hours, your health begins to be at risk.At 48 hours—the two days you say you haven’t slept for—the body begins to literally shut down. You could experience blackouts ranging from half a second to half a minute and it leaves your disoriented and still acting and thinking like a drunk. Memory loss happens—you can’t remember what’s happening—and you go on autopilot with little consciousness actively engaged.I’m not entirely sure about the specifics of effects caffeine has on sleep deprivation, but my best estimation is that it delays some of the effects, or at least makes the moments where you are conscious and engaged more hyperactive. All that excessive use of caffeine is damaging your body on its own, but add to it the effects of sleep deprivation. You may not feel as tired as you would without coffee-Monster drinks, but your body feels the toll. No sleep + drug addiction—it doesn’t end well.If you think sleeping is such a waste of time, please reread my answer and do some research of your own until you disagree. I would personally love to be able to work as long as I like without needing to sleep, but I do need to sleep, so I recognize that need. You may not think you need sleep but your body disagrees. If you can’t stop drinking coffee/Monster, switch to just one or the other. Wean yourself off of it, like addicts do with alcohol and illegal drugs. Don’t drink more than one can of Monster, I think, or more than two cups of coffee, a day. Eventually, you should be sleeping fairly normally and you won’t need coffee/Monster combos to function.Note: I’m not a scientist. I’ve just taken health classes and did some quick research. If this is a serious issue, go to a doctor.Sources: What Happens When You Don’t Sleep for DaysSleepio
