Why are smoothies good for weight loss?
This answer can be an essay alone!I’ll try my best to sum up my thoughts. By weight loss, I presume you’re referring to losing weight to your natural/healthy weight ideal to your health. To answer your question, I think its because most smoothies are made with organic raw vegetables and fruit ;) And when you consume raw vegetables and fruit, you have (1) more fibre in your body (2) this means that you will most likely excrete more, have less drag and toxins in your body when you consume fresh raw smoothies regularly. And when your body starts “detoxing” from the fresh organic fruit and vegetables, you’ll more likely feel lighter. And when you feel lighter you’ll most likely want to keep up with this positive loop so you make healthier food choices and eat better ;)Plus, most of us don’t chew enough so blending the fruit and veggies aid our digestion system.Of course, the benefits of raw vegetables and fruit alone may require another essay. But to sum up, when you eat raw foods, your chances of staying/being at your ideal weight are higher given your (1) healthier food choices - by virtue of this you’d probably have cut down some processed junk in your diet (2) the calorie concept may not apply to raw foods - this is debatable but I find this concept quite interesting - Stay Lean and Fit Without Counting Calories? And there’s another angle you can approach this with - the role of enzymes in raw foods for vitality and ideal weight - How Enzymes Affect Beauty And HealthAnd, blending the greens optimises our digestive system and helps us absorb nutrients better :)To end this answer, I’d like to include this quote - “Ingredients keep the same calorie load as I cook them but they change in how good they are for our body. Raw olive oil is very healthy, but if I cook with it at high temperature it becomes transfat, an enemy of our body. The cooking techniques are so much more important than the calorie count. A chef can heal or poison by the way he cooks”. The Quantum Calorie

Will I lose weight if I only drink fruit smoothies?
NOBODY can answer your question as asked... Losing fat consists of burning more calories than you consume...you could conceivably lose weight eating only Snickers bars, and you could gain weight eating only lettuce BUT you wouldn't be able to eat many Snickers bars and they are very poor nutrition...and you'd have to eat a huge amount of lettuce, and alone it wouldn't be healthy either... The key is to eat a balanced diet...you don't need to go on some goofy smoothie regime or any other quirky "diet"...just make sure you are eating healthy foods so you are getting proper nutrition and that your calorie intake is less than what you burn each day (probably 1800 - 2300 should be your intake, depending on your metabolism and activity level...might be higher)...
Will a smoothie diet help me lose weight?
It depends on the type of fruit and the type of yogurt. Fruit is usually high in carbs and sugar and those with a high water content are not very filling. The majority of yogurt is full of sugar and other junk. I would use full-fat, no sugar, plain Greek yogurt, which only has a couple of ingredients. You will probably lose weight if your smoothie is full of the right things, however, you will be miserable, and your body will lack nutrients from other food you are missing out on. And when you start eating proper food again you will probably gain the weight back. When I got my wisdom teeth out, I survived on spinach and banana smoothies (made with full-cream milk) for about a week, and I lost 5kg. I was tired and miserable and felt weak though, and my stomach was never satisfied. And I gained that weight back. Your brain is 60% fat. Include eggs, fatty meats, plenty of vegetables, nuts, butter, fruit in moderation, and full-fat dairy. A smoothie diet will not keep weight off long term and won't do your body much good. If you want to lose weight AND keep it off AND feel good too, then don't diet. Make permanent changes to your lifestyle. Every single day I eat 2-3 eggs, bacon, and veggies fried in butter. You'd think from what the government has to say about fat that I'd be the size of a house by now, and have diabetes and heart disease. But I am perfectly healthy.
