Whats Some Short Myth Ideas

Myth Ideas?

About butterflies: (Are you familiar with the greek story of Demeter, Persiphone and Hades? ) Well if you're not it goes a little bit like this: Demeter (mother nature) has a daughter (Persiphone.) One day when she (Persiphone) went out for a walk, Hades (king of the underworld) fell in love with her and rose to the Earth and abducted her.Once in the underworld Hades fed Persiphone with a pomegranate (fruit of the dead) and so she bound to him forever!!! Demeter did not like what had happened and she was very sad and with her sadness nature began to die out. But Hermes (clever lower god) managed to get an agreement between Hades and Demeter in an attempt to save life on Earth! Persiphone would spend three months with Hades and the remaining nine months with Demeter (hence we have three months of winter--when Demeter is sad because her daughter has left her)
SO, for your story, you could write about how Mother Nature created the beautiful butterflies as a gift to her daughter. The daughter had just recently gotten married and Mother Nature wanted her daughter to keep something of her so that she could feel her close. Mother Nature knew how her daughter loved rainbows and colours, and so she made them of beautiful colours, and able to fly so that they could dance in the sky and be an amazing sight to watch and be entertained by. Mother Nature wanted her daughter to take them back to her house. The daughter was very happy, but a short time later she was saddened when she found that the butterflies had not survived the trip. The next time she went to visit her mother, she told her of what had happened and so Mother Nature agreed to make more butterflies for her but this time she would keep them in a safe place until the next time she would return. ...
or something like that....

What are some themes or overall ideas in the short story 1408?

The cynical and skeptical writer Mike Enslin writes books evaluating supernatural phenomena in hotels, graveyards and other haunted places, usually debunking the mystery. While writing his last book, he travels from Los Angeles to New York to spend one night in the evil room 1408 of the Dolphin Hotel, which is permanently unavailable for guests. The reluctant manager Mr. Gerald Olin objects to his request and offers an upgrade, expensive booze and finally the reports relating the death of more than fifty guests along decades in the cursed room. However, Mike threatens Mr. Oiln, promising to sue the hotel, and finally checks in the room. Along the night, he finds that guests of room 1408 can check in when they like, but they can never leave the room alive.

Based on the short Stephen King horror story of the same name, 1408 is about supernatural writer Mike Enslin, an author of two successful books on supernatural phenomena. As research for his latest book, Enslin is determined to check out the notorious room 1408 in a New York City hotel by personally staying as a guest in the fabled room. He believes that 1408 is just a myth perpetuated by stories and rumors that Enslin has collected for his past works. However, hotel manager Mr. Olin has strong objections to Enslin's stay and only warns him of possible danger to come. Enslin is determined to go anyway. But what Mike Enslin is about to experience is no myth, as 1408 truly is a room where the guests don't check out by noon.

Any Legend/Myth Short Story Ideas?

I have an assignment in my English class and i have to write a short story that falls in the legend or myth genre(and ONLY legend or myth genre, absolutely no other genre) but i don't know what to write about!!!! i don't want a full story(that would be cheating), just some ideas of what to write about. my paper is due Thursday, November 12, 2009. So after or on 11/12/2009, DO NOT give me any more answers. Please help me!!!!!!!!!

What are some good ideas to wrie about in a short story?

Well, assuming that it is fiction, you can write about just about anything. I personally LOVE Just-So stories. Do you know what they are? If not, they're basically little stories about how tohings got special features, mostly about animals. For example, it could be about how the camel got it's hump, or why the lion roars.

How are myths created? What are some examples?

I can’t account for all myths, but I can offer two: Paul Bunyan and Davy Crockett.Although many Americans think the Paul Bunyan stories were based on the feats of a real person, he was actually created by two lumber-industry public relations men named James Stevens and W. B. Laughead as a way to publicize their lumber company. He was no more a real person than is Harry Potter. The first mention of Paul Bunyan in print occurred in 1914. He has been conflated with “John Henry, the steel drivin’ man” as a symbol of what happens to talented individuals as a result of progress. Both Paul Bunyan and John Henry were put out of work because machines could do more work, faster, than they could.David Crockett (the name he apparently preferred to Davy) was a real person, a Tennessee frontiersman and three-term Congressman who died at the Alamo. Stories about him were like today’s political ads shown on TV, a way to become known to voters at a time when travel and communication on the frontier were difficult.

What are the best topics on which a short film can be made?

There is nothing called as best topics, as a filmmaker you need to decide which topic is very familiar for you or in which area you are good at.As a filmmaker i would suggest a horror genres because you can have minimum number of actors or a single actor, single location. With good background music, sound effects and some disturbing visuals you can nail the audience. Some of topics that I can think of are:Humanity. No one born a racist.LoveSocial mediaLoyalty of the DogPsychoEducation systemChild marriageSafety of womenHaunted HouseBlind peopleAny persons life story that is not usually not shown in films but important to our survival, for example barber, truck driver, traffic police, street sweepers etcLove of motherMurder mysteryDepressionLifeHuman raceAI and automationAliensSurrogacyPS : here is our short film, do check it out.

Quest ideas for a Greek myth?

I have almost my entire Greek myth for school written. It's about the start of rainbows. Basically, it has been raining a lot and a teenage girl wants to know of Zeus is mad at the humans. She prays to Isis to help her and Isis comes. Isis says that she might be able to help her as long as the girl does something in return for her. And that is where I am stuck. I am thinking of some sort of quest but I am not sure what to do. Also, I need to keep it relatively short because I have to fit the whole story within 5-6 pages. Any ideas would be appreciated though! Thank you!

Any good, creative and new ideas for a greek play?

ohh a good question mookie

You could do the one where Zeus took a fit and throw his own son Hephaestus off Olympus. You could have a person pretending to be Hera moaning at him and Zeus gets angry and weeee bye bye goes baby!
Make the set really high up so the person dies for real and you can make it really graphical

(oh what I would do is just pray to the gods, you know Poseidon said Zeus should of been God of theater, well just get him on the show and insult him and when he gets a head full of steam bring the curtains up and show the full school, call your play 'The angry Zeus'. You'll get full marks but I can't say you'll all come away with your lifes...or your school)

EDIT - we have to say it was Zeus, to make Hera look good (remember she didn't like how her son looked so he had to go, but Hera wants to play happy family)
And Kronos...well he's been 'stabbed' away ;)

**I know dads are so embarrassing, Hermes hugged me in front of Connor and Travis and now they wont stop asking for hugs, I should of pick pocketed Hermes when he wasn't looking

Do actual sluts really exist or is the idea of a slut just a myth made to give both a sexual fantasy to get off to for men, and female prudes a way to shame sexually active women to raise a prudish woman's sexual market value in the dating scene?

Yes. I knew a girl name Crystal who was by all definitions a slut in the completely stereotypical way. She slept with almost all the guys at the high school and then some; she didn’t seem to care much how attractive the guy was either. Also, she would very frequently wear short skirts with no panties (making sure everyone was aware of that fact) and talked about sex constantly.I gathered that Crystal did not have a good home life, and while I can’t say for certain she was molested or raped growing up, there was a lot of talk out there. Sadly she died of a heroin overdose a few years ago. A tragedy; I quite liked her. And I was one of the few guys who never tried to sleep with her.The reason why there is the double standard between men and women about sexual partners is that it’s easier for a woman to sleep with a bunch of men than vice versa. If I wore a short skirt with no underwear I don’t think it would elicit the same reaction in women.
