I did a double take when I saw this question and had to go search YouTube. The short answer is because videos of scantily clad women generate video views which skews YouTube stats. The above is one of the videos I remember circulating from back when shuffling was first becoming a “Thing.”

While the mathematical answer is 1/n!, I have heard that Apple, when designing the “shuffle” feature, actually made some tweaks to the shuffling algorithm, because it “wasn’t random enough” - people were hearing songs by the same artist back to back, which is completely permitted in a random permutation, but due to the way people find patterns in everything, didn’t feel random. So, Apple made the shuffle feature “more random” by reducing the change for songs by a similar artist to appear sequentially in an album (Obviously doesn’t apply that way when shuffling an album by one artist, perhaps they take into account index instead). What I’m trying to say is, the simple answer is 1/n!, the complex answer is “it’s more complicated.”Note: I’m sure lots of music players use extra rules to make shuffling seem more random, not just Apple. It was just the example that came to mind.

Thanks for requestSorry don’t know name of song.People in China do shuffle dancing to many different songs with a similar beat. There are a number of videos on Youtube. To down load the music you will need someone who reads Chinese and go to music websites like千千音乐-听见世界酷狗音乐 - 就是歌多音悦Tai - 让娱乐更美好

What does... "Everyday I'm shuffling" mean in that song by LMFAO?

The shuffle is the type of dance that they are doing in that video. And they say "everyday I'm shuffling" cause they do it everyday! :D

Like my friend below has already answered , The shuffling is based on the Fisher-Yates algorithm.Let me explain it a bit further with an example. Let say you have an array A of all the songs names arranged in some order (Say Alphabetically). Now to randomize it, select a random no up to size(A) and and copy that element (Song name) from that position from array A to new array B. now delete that song name from array A. Continue this process until you get to empty array A.In short what you have done is that you moved a random song from first array to new array one by one hence getting shuffled songs in new array. For the overhead part, if you want to decrease the complexity you can do it in a single array by swapping the values but yes if you do it with two arrays it might slow down your player depending upon the length of your array.
