What is the difference between Architecture and interior design?

Architecture and interior design is the same thing. The main difference between is the Architects and interior designers are professionals who develop design plans. The primary difference between them centers on what they design. Architects design buildings, while interior designers use furniture, fixtures, and other accessories to create a desired look and function for spaces inside a building.ArchitectureArchitects develop design plans for various types of spaces and buildings. They typically work for architectural or engineering firms, and they primarily work in an office environment, but they do need to travel to the building sites to oversee the progress of construction on what they've designed. They need good analytical and problem-solving skills so that they can develop design plans that fit the client's needs and budget while also adhering to building codes. Their creative and artistic talents enable them to come up with new and original designs.Interior DesignerInterior designers are creative professionals who use their artistic sense to determine how to set up an interior space. Interior designers may do some of their work in their office, but they also need to travel to the location they're designing. Their work hours can vary and they may be obliged to make their schedule flexible, depending on the needs of their clients. In addition to creative and artistic talents, they need to be able to pay close attention to details and possess strong communication skillsFor more information you can visit: https://pepecalderindesign.com/i...

What's the difference between an architect and interior designer?

Ok, I'm sorry, but all of you people might not know what an interior designer REALLY does. We do more than pick out paint colors and furniture. That is called an interior DECORATOR lol

An Architect is responsible for creating buildings. They need to know how a building is constructed including every single detail like how a door is made, how walls are constructed and they need to go through a lot of school in order to know everything.

An Interior Designer is just that, they design the interiors of spaces. They draw floor plans, do space planning, work with furniture and colors, lighting and also need to be aware of building codes and regulations for safety. They work with contractors, engineers, architects and other people on the job site to finish a project.

Both careers work in the residential and commercial field. One big difference between them is that Architects work with the main structure of a building and can make changes to that structure. Interior Designers however can only change parts of a building that does not interfere with the structure or core.

I am currently a Interior Design student and I have had to learn a lot more than color schemes, I have learned how to properly draw floor plans, construction documents, 3d computer drafted drawings including structures AND furniture, and also how to sketch. Sketching is a BIG part of designing because you need to know how to properly get your ideas out on paper to a client while being in scale (the right size) and proportions.

Both are great careers and very rewarding!

What is the difference between architect and interior designer ?

They're both the same in that their jobs involve design and artistry.

An architect designs buildings (all kinds -- office buildings, houses, churches, condos, nursing homes, the list goes on and on). An interior designer works on the insides of buildings after they're built. They choose colors, pick wallpapers or paints (or both), pick furniture, drapes/blinds, flooring, tables, desks, lighting, etc.

What is the difference between Interior designers, and Interior decorators?

In the most strict sense a Designer creates the design of whatever, and either has subs who craft the designers ideas, or offers them to a homeowner to find the end result.

A decorator, by the most strict definition, MAY HAVE design knowledge, but they are the ones who usually do the hands on work.

Both take some level of knowledge, experience, education, engineering, etc, but both can cross the defining lines of the words in their definitions.

IE: I may be an architect, who can design your home. I may not be able, formally to execute my designs in the labor it takes,,,OR WANT TO... I may even make more dollars, just in the consulting.

Can you be an architect and a interior designer at the same time?

Of course you can. As an architect you would have the skills to be an interior designer - either gaining these through study or intuitively - all part of an architects profession.
Normally however on a project an interior designer would be employed to do this work as they are cheaper - leaving the architect free to do the real "gutsy" stuff.
As far as the occupation goes there is a big difference in qualifications between the two jobs.
However maybe you could be an architect with a "special interest" in interior design.

Cheers

What is the difference between interior design and interior decorating?

Decoration has to do with making things beautiful on the surface, and design has much more to do with the way a space functions. So if pressed, I'd say a decorator might go into a space and repaint, rearrange, and add a lamp, a chair and a throw pillow. Designers also do these things, but their work most often goes farther into minor (relocating outlets or ceiling lights) or major (adding or removing doors, walls, or rooms) renovations, calling in contractors, architects or engineers as needed to deeply improve the way a space works for the people who live in it. If anyone asks what I do, I tell them I'm an interior designer. But my clients basically use the terms interchangeably, and will often introduce me to their friends as "our decorator." I usually don't correct them - being a good decorator isn't easy, and it is a part of what I do. As Annie said above, in most states anyone can use the title decorator or designer (I believe there are only 2 states currently regulating the use of the title "interior designer"), so just having one title or another on a business card doesn't mean much. If you're considering hiring someone, don't worry about their title as much as whether they have experience with projects like yours - ask for references from previous clients, and look through their portfolio - that will give you a much better picture of their capabilities than a job title. Hope that helps - Jennifer.

Interior design or architecture?

That architect told you the truth. Math doesn't matter in architecture. Also, everything you do its not for your own, its for your client. No matter how creative or how good you are, if your client doesn't like it, its means nothing.

Student life
The only thing is to convinces your tutor, your tutor like it, you get good marks. Once your tutor doesn't like it, you gonna to redraw them again for another 2 weeks! Sleepless night always happens when you are going to submit and present your works. You need to learn bunch of software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, Maya, Rhino, Photoshop, After Effect, 3ds Max and more to produce your drawings. Bunch of research about history, local culture, environment, architecture design around the world(classic and modern), building technology, construction method, heritage and local authorities bla bla bla to support your design. i still remember that i used 68 hours non-stop to produced my final product during my second year studies. If you want to become a registered architect, you must finish your master course and practice for another 2 years. The course for architecture is about AUD 7,000 - 25,000 per year in Australia. International Students have to pay more.

Career
Client is everything. They like it or not does matter! you have to convince them all the time. you design something they like, but not what you want. If you want to know more about it, just watch "Click" from Adam Sandler for details. Good money? could be, but you are going to sacrifice a lot of things.....time, youth, family, the loves one.

So, if you really love architecture, go for it! if you are still doubt about it, think carefully. Interior design is about the same, but you job isnt that shitty compare with architect. Why? because your responsibility isnt that great. Interior designer doesn't deal with the building, construction and so on. If you really can endure the shitty uni life, go for architecture. Also, people respect architect. lol!

Hope this helps :)

Architecture , Interior design or both ??

You're lucky because there is a middle road for your dilema called 'Interior Architecture'. Its fairly recent and not available at most universities (I think they started offering such courses in the early 1980s).

This combines the study of architecture and interior design. It main purpose is to allow you to redevelop existing buildings to allow for different functions. For example, converting a hospital into a school or offices into apartments and so on. But you will learn to design a building from scratch and deal with the details of interior spaces including all its aspects.

By studying Interior Architecture you learn architectural courses such as Construction methods, materials of construction, structures, history of architecture, professional practice, environmental control systems ...etc. as well as interior design courses such as furniture and style, lighting, theories of design...etc. These would naturally be combined with CAD and presentation technique courses and various others that I can't remember at the moment.

Its worth taking a look at the individual courses in each programme you find and maybe even talk to a member of faculty. One important thing to consider is what you want to do once you graduate. Ask about accreditation and whether or not the programme is approved by the AIA (if you're in the states) or RIBA (if you're in the UK) or for that matter any architectural body that accredits and whose approval you need to practice. The same goes for interior design bodies.

I don't know in which country you intend to study but just to give you an idea, there is a course at Ohio university http://www.ohiou.edu/design/main.html
