I stumbled upon this show last year, on the recommendation of a friend and it has been one of the most hilarious shows that I have ever watched.Yes, FRIENDS, TBBT, HIMYM etc are awesome and I suppose we have a huge majority of people who can’t stop gushing over the awesomeness of these shows. Fair enough.At the same time, there are not-so-popular shows (at least in India) like Impractical Jokers which offer hilarious comedy. Since there is no continuous storyline here, you don’t really get attached to any of the actors the way you got attached to the character of a Chandler or a Phoebe or a Sheldon. But the whole premise of using creating jokes through public pranks and specially the reaction of the unsuspecting public, is what makes the series an absolute treat to watch.Occasionally, the show derives its comedy by using undertones of racial slurs or political incorrectness or nudity. But if someone enjoys watching a Russell Peters/Louis CK or the contemporary comedians in India (you know the names), Impractical Jokers will definitely tingle your senses. In fact, actually make you ROFL.

If you mean that the audience is a part of the crew, then no. It is not staged. But, they do have a script. They take note of what task has to be done and the general flow. The challenges are mostly done by all the guys but the show is selective in telecasting them. For example, the punishments in each show are not a result of a joker losing the most challenges in the episode. Instead, punishments are filmed separately. The producers make one joker(or more in some cases) lose the highest number of challenges per episode by telecasting the instances where the joker(s) fails. In the end, the losing joker’s punishment scene, which has been filmed separately, is shown. So, the pranks are quite real. But the winning/losing stuff is just editing.
