More than likely, he is a breed called in Southern Appalachia “Sooner” (for whichever male got to his mom “sooner” than the others). Also called a “Heinz 57” (for the number of breeds in his parentage), or a “Pound Puppy”. Also called a “Potlicker” and a “Feist” (a general name in the South for a mixed breed). If you want a purebred, learn the breeds and their characters; a puppy will in no way resemble the adults of its breeds, often being very different when grown.

Whats your favourite type of dog?

Border collies and australian shepherds.
If ten is highest, border collies are usually about a 10.5 :-)
really more like a 9.9, only because:
The only problem i have ever really encountered while training mine is sometimes they just don't focus, and sometimes they know what you are trying to get them to do, they just don't do it anyway.

Hey Becca, I spell favourite that way a lot too, and I live in the middle of good old USA. I don't know where you live, because your grammar is certainly not proper english. "a the dalmation"? Never heard of that writing style. And it's spelled Britain, unless of course you live somewhere where they spell it different.

"Pit bull" is a pretty wide net to cast- any dog with remotely Staffordshire Bull Terrier-like characteristics is called a pit bull in common and even breeding vernacular, because there's really no hard standard (even American Pit Bull Terrier is a moving target). That said, this is not a full Staffy, if that's what you mean. No one (not even a DNA test) can tell you exactly the breeds and mutts that went into this dog. Maybe some Dogo Argentino, maybe some Staffy, maybe some American Bulldog. Pick what you like and call it that. I'd call it a cute Heinz 57, myself. As far as liability issues, many companies that have issues with pits will also have issues with Dogo Argentinos, Bulldogs, Boxers, etc, so be careful what you call him. I'd go with lab mix- people who do insurance and such have no idea how to classify dogs at all, and he could very well have some labrador in him. Good luck- he's a beauty. :-)

I often wonder if my dog goes by different names. I call him and he responds to my familiar vocal, human sound. People call him different vocal names if they like him and do not know my vocal calling, and he responds too!. However, his K9 friends, squirrels and cats that he is also familiar with, do not share this vocal understanding that we have, yet they identify him and engage on a familiar level.I would imagine to K9 friends, his name might be more of a scent, as this appears to be how they greet and trace each other. Maybe it is a as simple as posture, a bark or tail wag….The neighborhood cats and squirrels, tend to identify him on a less intimate system. Perhaps he is identified by his bark, posture, or tag sound on his collar.I am looking into his eyes and asking him to tell me his name. He looks a little nervous about the whole thing and rather bothered by my interruption of his nap. ‘Perhaps, better not to know…My suspicious mind wanders…if someone is looking for your security passwords and security answers, it could be risky. Therefore, my dog has his name to know and there are no symbols to post, since he is not very good at spelling, but is a skilled master of smelling!
