What's your favourite scary movie?

The original Jaws. From a film making standpoint, it was brilliantly manipulative on all levels. It had unique camera moves that evoked an emotional response, the soundtrack (which was ruined when it changed from film to video) had interesting effects which created a lot of tension and it was edited in such a way that it set you up to be scared and then scared you before you expected it to happen, taking you totally by surprise. You had to see it in the movie theater, though, when all the original effects were still in place. Not only did I never swim in the ocean again after I saw it, but I was even afraid to get into my bath tub and when I would go to bed, I would jump into bed from as far away as I could because I was afraid the shark would come out from under the bed!

My second favorite movie was the Exorcist. The very first part of the movie which took place in Northern Iraq at an archeological dig was one of the creepiest scenes I have ever seen and I think it was the creepiest scene in the whole movie.

Which is your favorite Scary Movie? 1,2,3,or 4?

one and three. I haven't seen the 2nd and the fourth is corny, aside from Charlie Sheen's scene.

What's your favorite scary movie?

From least to most scary:
Mama - because of the creepy factor
Sinister - just the thought of my kids following Bhaghul
The Possesion - I go to yard sales.
Insidious - This was plain scary.
Jeepers Creepers - I watched it alone at night. I began to hear weird noises in the house.
The Ring - My TV turns on in the middle of night by itself to static for no reason.
The Exorcist - my name is Legion, we are many.

What's your favorite scene in a scary movie and why?

It’s just so beautifully set up.Clarice Starling gets a lead that, quite by chance, takes her to Buffalo Bill’s place.Bill is trying to act all nonchalant but realizes that he has to kill Starling after he realizes she hasn’t let anyone else know where she is.As in “Red Dragon” (which was filmed later), Clarice sees a single clue that makes her realize that she’s found the right place. She soon finds the kidnapped girl. But Bill is ready for her. He shuts off all the lights and puts on his night-vision goggles so he can hunt down Clarice at his leisure. But when we see this shot, we realize Clarice has won.Again, in Red Dragon, we see a similar scene play out when the detective is in Hannibal Lecter’s study, is leafing through a dictionary, and realizes Hannibal is the cannibal killer he’s been trying to hunt down (ironically, with Hannibal’s help). The problem is that Hannibal has realized it too and it’s now a fight to see which one will survive.

What's your favorite 'scary children' movie?

Poltergeist is my favorite. I used to rent it at Blockbuster almost every month and every time it scared the shit out of me. I consider it a scary children’s movie because in 1984, it changed to a PG rating. The original (1982) Poltergeist was already 14 years old, but the special and visual effects looked so real to me.The first time I watched it I was about 4 years old. I watched it by myself in my scary basement in total darkness. The part where the evil clown chokes the boy from under the bed made me turn it off cause I hated clowns and could not take anymore of that freako.Eventually my little and older sisters started watching it with me as well as my parents. It never got old and I would still get scared; but watching a scary movie with my family during my childhood was very fun and exhilarating.
