When A Movie Is Shown On Tv Are Some Things Left Out Because Of Time

Popular TV shows, and movies..?

ok yes hi. my friends, i have something in me thats always bugged me, and this is the fact that i am very uneducated when it comes to good things to watch. (television shows, tv channels, movies)
at school everyone always talks about shows and jokes from them, and i feel very left out all the time becuz of this :\ (my little sis always has disney channel on which i find entertaining actually, thank you)
So my request/question is.. could you please give me a list of tv shows/channels and movies that are very common among teens? (im 16)
the only real good tv show ive been watching is LOST. but i hear things like "ooooh yay im gonna watch glee tonight" or "woot for law and order" or whatever you people watch
im planning to just educate myself over the summer by watching as much as i can @_@ creepy, is it? i dunno. who cares. its the internet so im not embaressed of this silly dream
GETTING OFF TRACK: please list tv shows/ movies that you would go crazy if i said i'd never seen them before =) thnak you. =)
(-PS. dont mention anything from adult swim cause i allready went through that phase in middle school lol-)

Why don't I have enough attention span to watch a movie or most TV shows anymore?

I also think you need to find the good shows to watch. I remember when I was in high school (2 years ago), I was really into cheezy-girly series like Gossip Girl, Glee, Vampire diaries etc. and when I went to college, I tried to keep on watching it, but I was kind of bored everytime I started an episode. Now I really prefer watching series a bit more "grown up". It's probably the same for you or you're just not interested in TV because you realized you don't need it now that you're more mature.

Why are people so obsessed with shallow originality in movies, tv shows and novels?

I checked. There are no more, and no less remakes done today then in the past. Its just that in earlier eras no one really thought about it. When they made "Gone With the Wind", they didn't have people concerned with things like the fact that it wasn't original but an adaptation of a book. No one was crying about wether Vivien Leigh was how they "pictured" Scarlett. No one was arguing about changes in the plot. Or bemoaning the fact that they left out half the story.
People were intelligent enough to evaluate the film on its own merits as a film. Too bad things have changed so much. Every time something comes out the first thing you hear is how its like something else. Usually the common ground is so completely unimportant its crazy. Oh no! Not another film where people wear pants! How many times are they going to DO THAT! Why don't they wear kilts, or run around nude? At least it would be original. I swear it gives me a headache.
Its also very uneven. Everyone keeps repeating that there are vampire movies everywhere. They do it because they heard it said that vampire movies are everywhere. Huh? Theres the Twilight series. One show on HBO. One on the CW( which shouldn't count, because the CW doesn't count.). There was Buffy at one time and Angel, but thats a long time ago. This is EVERYWHERE???? There are more shows about fat, lazy cartoon dads. However there really are cop and doctor shows everywhere, but people don't much notice. Even so, what would be wrong with a well written cop, doctor or even vampire show if the writer had an interesting story to tell? NOTHING. The surface description of characters don't make the story original or unoriginal. Its what you do with them.
Can't people get it?

Why do some movies come out on DVD faster than others even if they went into the theaters at the same time?

The ones that stay in the movies longer will come out in the same amount of time as others, but it has to be done playing in the movies before the DVD is released. So if it's a popular movie say Harry Potter and a not so popular movie say.......Scary Movie then Scary movie will be out quicker because a few months into it showing no one is still trying to go to the movies to see it while people are still going to see Hairy Pooter

Why is "The Sound of Music" considered a christmas movie?

It's always baffled me, why they would choose this one as a Christmas film. Christmas does not happen in the film (it takes place in summer and fall), though I think it does in one of the previous German films.

The film premiered on March 2 1965, not any where near Christmas. And I think the only thing it has to do with Christmas is this one promo photo they shot for it.

Plus Maria is leaving the convent...so? How was it decided that this movie that has nothing to do with Christmas become a Christmas movie? And a song "My Favorite Things" that also has nothing to do with Christmas become a Christmas song?

This has always bugged me and I've asked why but many people don't seem to know why. Isn't that kind of strange don't you think?

Can I read the Harry Potter books after watching the movies? Will it make any difference as I already know alot of things?

Of course you can…..It’s what I did.I started my journey of the Wizarding World by the movies, around 2005–2006 when I was only 5 year old. I watched Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s stone, and, frankly speaking, didn’t understand it much. It is for kids, I know, but it is a bit advanced for a mere five year old. So I lost my interest there.I again got my interest back in my age 10–11 where I saw in my TV, Harry fighting the basilisk in HP2 Chamber of Secrets. I was thrilled. I decided to watch the first 2 movies, and so I did. But I again lost interest afterwards. So you can understand, this was my initial experiences with Potter. Then the real journey began after a long time. I finished my 10th board exams, and thought to watch Harry Potter again……. But now, I decided….told myself…..“Let’s give it a jump start.”At this time, I fully understood and appreciated what Harry Potter really meant to the world, what it means to me. I fell in love with this series, and finished watching all the movies. I watched again…and again…and again….and again…..until I realized that some part of the actual story are missing here, some loopholes are there. Of course, I can’t blame the script writers for this, it is impossible to put down all the details of an average 800-pages book in the movie. So I decided to read the books. It took me nearly a year to buy and read the books and completely understand the series. I had to need longer time if I didn’t see the movies first.and talking about any differences…..obviously it will. As I told you earlier, many facts and stories are missing in the movies, and only watching the movies will not help you become a Hermione Granger in the Wizarding World. So, do read the books, and I assure you, you’ll LOVE IT!Till now, I have read the whole series 15–20 times, and watched the movies umpteenth times. But still today, if a Harry Potter movie is shown on TV, I stick to the channel, and gape at it. So I cannot underestimate the movies, but still, NOTHING BEATS THE STORY OF ROWLING.So my suggestion would be…..Cheers :)
