When An Alcoholic Is Drunk Do They Mean What They Say Or Is It All Just Nonsense

When someone is drunk do they talk nonsense or tell truths?

When you think of drunk people, think of them like babies. They can't walk in a straight line, often when they speak it makes no sense at all, and when they try to do something that requires a bit more effort than point and shouting they often fail in the most hilarious way.

That being said, when you have a drunk person or a baby tell you something, you can take it as a given that when they're talking about themselves 9 times out of 10, they're talking crap. When they're talking about others, they are actually telling you the truth from their point of view.

However, you can't always take what a drunk person says as having meaning behind it. They may be telling the story from what they see, however they aren't actually putting 2 and 2 together like most other people. If a drunk person starts "being honest" with you, talk to them the next day about it to get the full story. If you don't do that you'll be offended every time you go out.

tl;dr

Drunk people do say some very insightful things, but take it with a pinch of salt pending clarification when they're sober.

My Dad is an Alcoholic. He`s a stupid drunk at night, but by the next morning he`s the Dad I know and love...?

No, do not accept this behavior. Let him know how you feel when he's sober. How it is affecting you and your mother. There must be an underlying problem he is dealing with that caused him to begin drinking. I lived with an alcoholic mother and she died 5years ago at the age of 49,due to alcoholism. I then turned to the stuff, and almost ruined my marriage. I had a revelation that God has a better and more divine purpose for me and all of us and I saught help. Still attending AA, and loving God. If you ignore this, he will never know, and then eventually have many health problems.. There are also meeting you can go to to relate to others at your age that are in the same position. Alanon.. There free, just a way to cope, deal with, and understand why people choose alcohol over there loved ones. It's a deadly DISEASE and needs intervention. You don't want to wake up 10 years from now without your loving dad and wish you would have helped your dad get help. It's not an ashaming disease but it is very hard to kick the habit.. I will pray for ya.. I'm only 29 too.. god bless IM me if needed.. t

Why when people are drunk they talk nonsense ?

Should alcohol be ban from games?

alcohol makes people fight for stupid reason if they fight it has to be because they are wearing the visiting teams colors. it also made those dunbassess go and hit those first base coaches a couple years ago. alcohol has made family friendly stadiums to a drunk family reunion

Do people generally mean what they say when they drunk dial?

It depends. Sometimes they do, but sometimes if something has really been on their mind they will be brutally honest about it. I've had people I didn't know very well call me or text me being completely nonsensical. But then I got a rather beautiful, if somewhat difficult to read, love letter [well, email] from a good friend that he wrote whilst completely blitzed. It depends I suppose on how well you know someone, and what's been on their minds.

Is Alcohol truth serum? Question about being DRUNK?

What would you consider it in this situation:

A girl (not romantic AT ALL, just a friend) you havn't seen for a long time, leaves a message on your phone drunk. She says she was thinking about you and missed you, and would love to hear from you.)

Is that just drunken feelings or REAL feelings? Does she really want me to call her or was she just drunk? It's been so long since I've seen her..

Do you ignore the things said when they are drunk?

I should add that is was nothing bad, and we weren't with friends it was just the two of us. He said a lot of things, we talked till 4 in the morning but I don't know if he really meant all of it or if it was just the booze talking. Also he wasn't saying it to get a piece cause he said he just wanted to hold me and talk to my heart, which is what he did all night.

Do you think when people are drunk they show there true selfs?

Do you think when people are drunk they show their true selves?Ignoring the glaring spelling errors in the question, there is evidence that alcohol affects the parts of the central nervous system and brain responsible for inhibition and self-control (ventral striatum and prefrontal cortex) – the system that regulates our thoughts and behaviour, our ability to make rational choices.[1] Therefore a person who harbours a lot of negative emotions is more likely to express such feelings in the absence of the filter which would normally prevent them from freely expressing their mind. Positive people, such as myself, become nicer and happier (my wife tells me). While a state of alcohol toxicity does shut down inhibitions to a greater or lesser degree, it also colours or emphasizes certain feelings out of proportion and behaviour may become exaggerated. This is why people will sometimes do or say outrageous things they wouldn’t do otherwise. To a point, alcohol works like a truth serum on the brain, but there are limits to how much, even drunk, a person is willing to reveal about themselves.Alcohol affects everyone differently. It cannot be counted on as a “truth serum” and how much a person reveals of their true nature will vary between individuals. “There is currently no drug proven to cause consistent or predictable enhancement of truth-telling.”[2]Understanding the range of influences that alcohol can have on the brain, it’s important to understand that while certain truths may be revealed about a person’s nature, these revelations may also be highly exaggerated and out of context. A drunk should never be taken seriously regarding their expressions – excepting when they express feelings of serious illness and it’s time to call a paramedic. Alcohol poisoning is serious and potentially lethal if not handled quickly. Obviously it’s simply best to moderate one’s drinking or abstain altogether and avoid embarrassment and risk entirely.[1] Alcohol and Your Brain[2] Truth serum - Wikipedia
