When Applying For A Job Do I Have To List A Previous Employer

How do I find a list of all my previous employers?

you can not get that from social security
they list your yearly income but not where it came from.
you can request your tax transcripts from the IRS.
this will list each employer and anyone you worked for as a contractor.
the IRS generally only keeps 7 years of returns and they charge $39.00 for each years copy.
to make a request:
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

if you have kept your copies of tax returns you have all this info and if you have your taxes done professionally there should be copies at the accountant or tax preparer office. your W-2's and 1099's will list any employers you have had.

Can Angel list employers see who I'm applying for jobs?

Not sure exactly what you're asking, but to cover the bases:1) Your current and previous employers will never see that you're looking for jobs (unless you tell them yourself).2) Companies can see an approximation of how many other companies you've applied to, but they can't see which ones.More here: Help - AngelList

How do I list on LinkedIn a previous employer that have been acquired by another company?

As long as the employer is an identifiable company in LinkedIn, whether it's the old company name or the new one is fairly irrelevant in LinkedIn in my opinion. Mergers and acquisitions happen a lot, and potential employers and recruiters understand this. If you already had the former company listed in LinkedIn as your prior employer, I wouldn't see an arguable need to update it. If the company who acquired your former employer is active in social media, chances are good that they'll eventually update the data reflected on the company profile page in LinkedIn which should then be updated to reflected on your profile. But even if it doesn't, it's an easily explained difference in the very rare event that a recruiter asks to explain why the employer name in LinkedIn differs from that on your resume. It would be best to have the current employer name on your resume, with the former employer name referenced, such as "Pardot, acquired by Salesforce" or "Pardot, a Salesforce Company".

Leaving former employer off resume/job application?

Leaving former employer off resume/job application?
this is actually two separate questions.....

a resume' is a highlight film not a documentary, you do not have to list every employer you have worked for.

an application is totally different, most ask for your last 3 to 5 employers in order or for all employment within a specific time frame.
failure to list previous employers on an application is grounds for termination if the former employer falls within the parameters the employer has requested.......

as far as the background check part of the question; that wil depend on the outside service the employer uses to do background checks. different services offer different levels of information from simple public record checks up to personal interviews and detailed investigations. generally most employers do a simple check of public records and employment information is NOT part of this type of background check.

Can I "NOT" put a previous job on an application?

I got let go from my last job for testing positive for marijuana on a random drug test. On applications, it asks for your previous work experience, starting with your most recent job. I've had two jobs, and I'd like to not have to put the one that I was fired from down on the application. I can just tell them that I haven't had a job in the past year or two because I have been focusing on school. I guess my question is, can I NOT put my last job on the application, and basically pretend that it never happened? Is that okay or even legal? Serious answers, only if you KNOW the answer please. Thanks

Can I put "No", that my previous employer cannot be contacted on an application?

I'm applying for a job because I desperately need one now that I'm in college (and I can't seem to ever land a job) and I wanted to know if I should put "yes" or "no" to whether or not they can contact my previous employer.

I've only ever had two jobs, one was under the counter (it wasn't an actual job, I suppose, so I can't really put that down, plus they may not remember me from 2-3 years back...), and the other one, my only real job, probably doesn't look good...

You see, I worked at a theme park as a face painter, but I was so bad at painting faces that the job became stressful and I ended up having to quit because I needed more time to focus on school when my grades started slipping...
So, I ended up only working there for a month. That was last year in the spring time... but now that I'm in college I have more free time to work and I really need a job. I put my employer's information, but because I had worked for such a short amount of time I forgot his number and I found a number to the shop I worked at online, so I put that one on the application.
Not only is it possible the number I have isn't that specific employer's actual number, but I worked such a short amount of time I'm scared they will call and ask about me and my old supervisor won't remember who I am!
This is an online application, so it's not like I can show them I'm determined or will work hard for a job since I don't really need to see them, should I go check on the status of my application later? Just to meet the manager maybe?

Putting this job as my previous experience seems to be more harmful to me than beneficial... but I'm also afraid that they might search me up and somehow find out my work history and then see me as a liar...
Is it illegal to leave out past jobs? I only had that one real job for about a month, it's kind of like I never had it anyway... is it okay to leave it out? Is there a way they can look me up and find out that I've had a job? I don't know what to do.....

If a job application says "Please list the last 3 employers or attach resume", do I attach a resume if...?

list instead 3 "references". Your minister, a neighbor (an older person), a teacher, someone from church that you know (an older person). You must first ask these people if you can use their name and phone as a reference for you to help you get a job, your first job.

Since you have no work experience you cannot attach a resume (as there's nothing to write on there).

The people who you use as reference you must have their full name, their phone number, (address to but you may not be asked to list that) and their occupation. Be prepared to provide your name, address, phone number, social security number, name and address of your school and the principal there along with their phone number.

How do I list refrences on a job application when I have none?

I've only had one other job before but I was hired without an application because my cousins own the restaurant. Now, im 17 and I hate working there so decided to search for other jobs but the only part im struggling with is references. It says not to list previous employers, supervisors, friends, or family and I also dont want to lie. But i have no other people to list, so what do I do?

Can an employer find out where you worked if it's not listed on your resume? If so, how?

I suppose an employer could hire a private investigator, or pull credit reports, or interview people (this kind of thing happens for various government clearances). But the real questions are: why do you care if they know you worked somewhere not on your resume, and why would they want to spend all that time and money finding out what you didn't tell them?I list one job from before I was 18 - because it was a cool job. I could easily not list anything from before I graduated with my BA after going back to school, since my work experience/history since Jan 2007 is all anyone really wants to know (they don't care I worked as a car cleaner for Hertz 15 years ago).
