When Cutting My Hair Can I Just Wet The Ends

What happens when you never cut your split ends? Does the hair just keep splitting to the root and break off?

As a kid, I was forced to trim my hair all the time, and my hair never really grew long because of it. Therefore as an adult I hated!!! Trimming my hair and rarely do. Every advise on the Internet pretty much says this is the absolute worst thing you can do, and that it will cause your hair to eventually break off and look crappy but here's what I've learned from experience.Your hair will keep growing but your ends can start to look kinda ugly if you don't trim, especially if you straighten it. When this happened to me, I started using conditioners that temporary seal your ends and keeps them from splitting more and then oiling the ends more frequently. Eventually my ends would shed. But when I seal them well, only the bottom/split part falls out.Your ends can eventually get so brittle that any hair manipulation will break them. When this happened, I had to really lessen the amount of times a week/month, that I wash, detangle, style, etc.If you use heat often you're gonna have a much bigger problem than if you don't use it at all. Same for chemically heavy shampoos and conditioners. It can be the difference between having healthy hair you don't trim, and all the Internet horror stories.I now trim about 1/2–1 inch once every 1–2 years. The last time I've trimmed it, it was April of 2017. Currently looking through my hair, I only found 2 ends that are split. I use heat once a year, I wash it once a week, and I detangle very slowly, with mostly natural hair products. Usually when I look at hair balls, they include the white root. I do dye it very blonde, which causes most of my hair damage, but my hair looks healthy, and is very long, so Not trimming it can't be hurting me too much, nor has it, for me, been the worst thing in the world to do.

Does cutting your hair while its dry cause split ends?

No. My mum's a hairdresser and I asked her.
She said hairdressers wet it so that when they cut your hair, it's more likely to be even and straight.
Vote for best answer? ;)

What happens if you cut your hair when its dry?

like if you cut it yourself but you didnt wet your hair first? becuase today, thats what i did but just at the back of my hair to get rid of the dead ends cuz they were all frizzy and gross looking and they were starting to flip up, BUT it only flipped up at the VERY bottom. so then i cut them off w/o wetting them first, BUT while i was cutting of the part that flipped up, i made sure that i cut off the whole part that flipped, and now, right above the part that i cut off, which WASNT even flipped up before is flipping up. but its not that flipped up, infact you can only notice it from up close or if you feel it.

did this happen because i didnt wet my hair before cutting it or because it was kinda like that to start with?

Do you cut hair while it's wet or dry?

Mine is always trimmed wet or damp.

Should I cut my hair while it's wet or dry?

Definitely wet. Your mum is wise ;) At a salon or barbers they always wet your hair one way or another. It makes it easier to cut and also makes less mess as the hair comes off basically in one bit instead of going all over the place.
Good luck on your haircut.

How to make your hair grow faster when it has split ends?

How do you make your hair grow faster and healthier, and how do you get rid of split ends without cutting it?

I heard split ends makes your hair weak to the point where it'll grow slower, true?

I do wet my hair everyday because I shower everyday, but I only use shampoo every other day.

Or maybe the way I cut my hair may be the cause of split ends? Let me describe my hair style, I have somewhat an 'emo' hairstyle, that is how I cut my hair. FYI, I am not labeling, I just had to describe how I cut my hair. (I do my own hair because I don't like the way the hairdresser does it) Well, I use a razor blade, sometimes a sharp razor blade I get at the beauty store, or sometimes a shaving razor. I usually run the blade down my hair after cutting it with scissors to keep it from standing up. Maybe that might be the cause of split ends? Plus, the bottom, long part of my hair tips has the most split ends than the layers I have on my upper hair and my bangs, this afternoon I took a shaving razor and tried getting rid of the split ends using it, I didn't wanna cut it because I didn't wanna change the height, when I ran the razor on a piece of my hair to see if it's working, I realized it was peeling it! Then I stopped.
For a long time, I haven't cut the tip of the bottom layer of my hair to keep it from getting short and make it look longer, I usually cut my upper hair like once a month to make better layers, if you know the kind of hairstyle I'm talking about, you'll understand what I'm talking about.
Since your hair grows faster when you 'cut' it, does running a razor blade down your hair count as cutting it?
I just used biosilk oil on my hair since it was dry. So, a hair with split ends is NOT healthy? Are there anyways to get rid of split ends without cutting it?

Plus, I WANT my hair to grow faster. It is already long, but it looks thin because of the layers. Is there a way to make it grow too?

(Ps, I don't wanna buy a specific type of shampoo, I use Suave shampoo and conditioner)
