When Do You Think The People Of The United States Will Elect A Minority President

Is it conceivable that the United States will elect an openly gay president within the next 10 years?

Well, let's take a look at some openly gay politicians first as they would need to come from our current crop of politicians.Jim Kolbe (R), Arizona retired 2007Steve Gunderson (R) Wis., left office 97Tammy Baldwin (D), current Wisconsin SenatorBarney Franks (D), Mass., retired 2013Jared Polis (D) Colo. RepresentativeMark Pocan (D) Wis., RepresentativeKyrsten Sinema (D) Ariz. Representative (has stated that she's bisexual)Mike Michaud (D) Maine, lost the governors race yesterdaySean Patrick Maloney (D), NY RepresentativeDavid Ciciline (D) RI RepresentativeNow I may be missing some and we will have to see what the current crop of young Reps do while they are in Congress.  If Michaud had won yesterday, he would have been the most likely to be able to run.  Sinema is very ambitious and personable so I can see her trying to make a run in 10-15 years.  However she was very progressive politically at the state level although she has been moving towards the center since going to Congress; that could hurt her nationally.  She has also said some things as a state legislator that could come back to haunt her in addition to being labeled an atheist (which she denies.)  However, she has a great underdog story; she was homeless for a time when she was a child.  I would be surprised if the Presidency wasn't her ultimate goal.  If she can manage to not offend a wide swath of voters between now and then, she might be able to make a go at it.The key to your question is "openly gay."  It is quite possible that we could elect someone who is not out of the closet.  There are a lot more suspects on that list.  Side note to gay Republicans - Kolbe is proof that you can be openly gay and get re-elected.  He served 10 years out of the closet before he retired.  In fact, you are probably better off just openly discussing it then waiting for some scandal to break.

What will be the last minority group to be elected as president of the United States?

Given the direction the party is heading, Republicans may become that last minority to be elected as president of the United States.

Do you think you’ll get to see the first gay female president in the US office in your lifetime?

I don’t think you’ll see a gay president of either gender for quite some time. You have been led to believe that homosexuality is quite normal (noun) and accepted across the country; it’s neither. Homosexual people make up less than 2% of the population and outside of the urban liberal bastions its not been accepted by the rural population.Keeping in mind that prior to Justice Kennedy’s Obergfel opinion, in 36 out of 37 state elections gay marriage was rejected at the ballot box because of religious objections. The US population is still predominately based in Abrahamic religions and regardless of what humanistic laws are passed God’s law says homosexual acts are sinful, and those that commit them need to repent of the sin. Sinful acts should not be on display and while those that commit them are to be loved and cared for they are not to be placed in positions where their actions could influence others: i.e. the presidency. It’s for this reason there is a movement from the left, ongoing since the 60’s to delegitimize religion in a US society that was pretty much built on it. The push is to separate the younger generations from the religions insilled by their parents or their older communities and advance government over God. It’s working on the young however the older population isn’t budging, to them Gods laws will always supersede human law. Until such time enough of those people stop voting or die off a I don’t believe a gay president is in the mix, probably for another 20–30 years.

After President Obama, will America ever elect another black president? If so, what must he/she do differently for history to remember him/her as one of the greatest presidents of all time?

I believe that President Obama will go down in the history books as one of the greatest, most transformative Presidents that the United States of America has ever had. Associated with that legacy will be that he has been a highly controversial President.  Mostly, because he's our first black (he is half white, but is often referred to as black) president, and quite frankly there is still way too much racial prejudice, that exists in the United States, of whites towards black or mixed race people. Europe is well ahead of us in that regard. We have way too many white bigots that haven't yet evolved. Some are still fighting the civil war, some have just had some bad experiences. Keep in mind that the GOP announced, before he was even in office, that they had only one objective... That they were going to make sure that he was a one term president. Well, they obviously failed at that, but they fought him every step of the way. They became known as "the most do nothing congress in history".Based on that, I don't think that another black candidate will get to run for quite a while. That is due to the white American population not being ready for a black or mixed race president. BTW, I am white, but I recognize intelligence and quality. The Obama family has both. When I look at Obama, I see a good "man"! Not black or white.

How does the electoral college create the possibility of electing a minority president?

You have to understand how the electoral college works before you can answer this question. I always tell people to read the following article on the electoral college (to shut them up when they argue for abolishing it). I hope you'll take the time to read it if you want to understand how the electoral college works. It's worth the few minutes it'll take you to read through it and you'll be able to answer your own question when you're done. Good luck!

Do you think that Democrats would rather have President Trump or President Pence choose the next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court?

If Trump is guilty so is Pence. That means Pelosi would serve as POTUS until the next election. If Trump is not guilty then he'll nominate the next SCOTUS justice (assuming a spot opens up before he leaves office).

So the options are either Trump or Pelosi.
