When Grading Math Or Chemistry Exam

How to do well on math and chemistry exams?

I'm 15, in 10th grade and taking honors chemistry and honors algebra 2. They're my hardest classes. Well I have my final exam in both of those subjects tomorrow (consecutively, which sucks majorly) and I'm so worried. Chemistry, I know the material really well, but I'm still worried. I really really need and want and A on my final. Math I don't feel confident about at all. I've tried to study but we can't use any notes and I just cannot remember everything. Especially the formulas for permutations and combinations, which we just learned about on Monday, and its a major part of final tomorrow, which was pretty poor planning. Also, i find story problems really challenging, and my teacher loves to fill our tests with them. How can I do well on these finals, especially math? I'm so worried, and I want a B on my math final which is going to be really hard. I need a B if I won't to keep my A that I've somehow managed all semester. Please help me...

In the 2010 Standard Grade Chemistry exam, what percentages do you need to get 1's in both KU and PS?

Having read the external examiners report < available on the sqa webiste >, I can say that the the pass marks usual fluctuate between the following;

Credit K&U=30 PS=30

Grade 1= 21-30 21-39
Grade 2= 14-20 15-20
Grade 7= Less Less

However they can be changed depending on the difficulty level.

I do have a question though.

What kind of reaction did you say was the enzyme breaking down the yeast into alcohol, I said fermentation and I said CO2 was released.

Is 89 a bad grade on the Chemistry Regents?

i'm giving you a virtual slap in the face right now. of course all your other regents grades are great (global and spanish are notoriously easy, and math B - like most other regents exams - is getting easier every year, you still did fantastic, though). Chemistry is a lot harder than most regents exams. I think it is believed that the Physics and Latin exams are the hardest, followed by chem, then math B. You did great. remember that they also down-curve high grades (don't ask me why, new york state has their head up their *ss a lot of the time), so it is likely that you did better than an 89%. kinda sucks, i know. however, regents exams, although important, are not really of much interest to schools. they are much more concerned with APs, SATs, ACTs etc. as far as standardized testing goes. don't worry about it.

How difficult are the SAT II Chemistry and Math 2 exams?

This question seems a bit old but I will answer it for future readers. The key to perfect scores on these exams is pace and deep understanding (the latter is more so for myself). I took the SAT II Chem the Saturday after my AP Chemistry exam and I found myself a bit strapped for time (I didn’t study and I had no idea of how the test was built). Although if you have taken AP Chemistry or a college equivalent the test will be very basic and less theory based than the AP. Hence why the Chem SAT is designed for high school students. As for the SAT Math II know your precalculus really well if you want a score of 760+. Both exams are not mammoths to get 800’s on, simply study and understand both the content and the pace. I did not have to study for the Chem because I was accustomed to the rigor of the AP, the Math 2 I had to study for a bit. I got an 800 on the chem and a 790 on the Math 2 with basic studying.

10th grade chemistry multiple choice questions??? final exam review...?

1) Ionic. You just need to have this one memorized.

2) Palladium. Metals have luster, are ductile, and are malleable, and we know palladium is a metal because it is to the right of the "staircase" touching all metals.

3) The higher the electronegativity difference, the more covalent, UNLESS the electronegativity difference is so great it is ionic. Remember, if the electronegativity is between 0.0 and 1.7, it is covalent. Above 1.7, ionic. A is 1.55, B is ionic so ignore it, C is ionic so ignore it, and D is 0.58, so the answer is A.

4)

4.4gCO2 * ( 1molCO2 / 44.01gCO2 ) * ( 6.02 * 10^23 molecules / mol )
= 6.02 * 10^22

Choice C.

I hope this helps you. Have a great day.

Very Worried about Grade in Organic Chemistry?

Dont worry so much about your grade in that one class. If you are unhappy with that grade maybe you should study more for that class untill you understand the concepts. A B/C average in organic chem is fine. It is prob like the hardest class you'll take except for maybe human anatomy(if you have to take it for a chem major). Med schools dont look at individ grades to often. Make sure you keep your overall GPA above a 3.0 atleast. And they especially look at your last 30-45 semester hours completed, which will not start untill your junior year. Also med schools look alot a your mcat score and your extra curricular activities. If you are doing fine in those categories dont stress over a 75 on a test. Be prepared for a lot more 75's once you get to med school and have to balance classwork and clinicals.

How can I improve my chemistry grade?

A few comments:

1. If you haven't already, learn to cancel units. It's an important way to verify your answers on tests.

2. Focus on the "why" questions. For example, don't just memorize the periodic trends for ionization energy. Learn why hydrogen has a higher ionization energy than lithium (hint: it has to do with shielding from the 1s electrons).

3. In chemistry lab, do extra research for your lab reports. One of the main things that high school chemistry students seem to struggle with is coming up with possible improvements in their lab report conclusions. You're not actually expected to invent a new method. Just go down to your local university library and look up another method for what you did in class (hint: a reference to spectroscopic methods would really impress your teacher).

4. Start your problem sets early, and go to office hours to get help on questions you don't understand.

5. Life is about more than just grades. Focus on learning chemistry, not getting higher grades. I recommend that you approach your teacher by saying that you don't really understand the material and you want his/her help to clarify it. This will get a much better response.

Anyone else find the 2010 STANDARD GRADE chemistry exam hard!?

How can I pass my math exams?

I have come up with the #1 way to get an A on every math test for the rest of your life! I’m in the 10th grade, and I’m still getting As on every test because of something I did in the 5th grade. I never study, rarely do my homework, and never pay attention to a single word spoken in class. I am still massively popular for my intelligence (trying really hard not to sound prideful). How did I do it?Personal study.DON’T stop reading this because of how terrifying that sounds, hear me out. Assuming you live in America, our education is very skewed, but few people realize it. Math is a very easy subject taught in the dumbest way possible (thank you Common Core ). Here is what I did:In the 5th grade, I got the book “The Humongous Book of Algebra Problems”, and worked through the entire thing in just one or two weeks, spending most of the day on it. This launched me from 5th grade math to college-level algebra, and I LOVED IT! I haven’t learned any math taught in schools since then, and I’m still by far the best math person I’ve met. Now I write huge computer programs (working on one that’s 24,507 lines of code right now), I calculate how to turn Big Macs into Black Holes, and hang out with the coolest group of nerds in the universe. Not only that, but being smart lets you hang out with the COOL people, too! My life is still being massively benefitted for a single week spent five years ago! It’s A LOT easier than it sounds, trust me. Do this, and you will always be the top of your class, with no effort whatsoever. I also suggest getting the other books in that series (there’s a Calculus one, a Geometry one, and many others, though Algebra is the most important). Good luck with those exams!

How do I score 95 or more in the CBSE Class XII chemistry?

Hello , First of all before I tell you some ways through which you can score 90 or 95+ marks in chemistry, All The Best for your Boards !!Scoring good marks in chemistry depends on two things -How many marks you have been rewarded in Practicals . (Where you can easily get 28+ or 30)The paper you are going to give in Boards.Your board paper plays a key role in your score ( Contains 70 marks weightage) in which 65+ can be scored easily if you give it with patience, confidence and not do silly mistakes. As you have written that you have thoroughly gone through books and questions and had done practice of last 2 year papers. The thing matter is have you solved them with confidence ??, as confidence in paper is important(But overconfidence is Dangerous).Since, you still have quiet a good time for revision and self analysis you can follow these steps to make your success a sure victory....Find and target the weak topics (according to you) which prevent you from scoring good marks or you are not confident with( this can easily be analyzed through your class tests and consulting with subject teacher).Prepare these topics well -P- block (Named Reactions and method of preparation) , D-block .Named reactions in organic (better prepare notes of it).Electrochemistry and kinetics (a numerical is sure from both).Coardination comp.Better go through last 5-7 year papers as its the max. that a variation pattern is observed in question. For final analysis consult Xam Idea it has all previos year questions and at end of each chapter a mock test ( Do them in the alloted time). Finally bring some board pattern size sheets ,set a timer for 3 hours select a model test paper and have a mock test creating similar conditions as of board exam and after that analyze the parer and mistakes ( Atleast total of 4 to 5 papers if possible , one in a day is max. )Be assure its more than enough to get the desired score...Most importantly Don't get frustrated if not getting the answer and during the exam if question is out of bound or your approach at that time keep it for the last and do the rest of which you know....Be calm , cool and Confident you will succeed in your mission. All the best......And Good Luck... :-)
