When I Blow My Nose My Ears Make A Cracking And Poling Sound. It

Ear doing crackling noise when i swallow ?

I hope this helps and your ears get better

I think you are suffering from a very common problem known as 'Eustachian tube dysfunction' or ETD.

The noises that you hear in your ears are as a result of the fluid in the middle ear becoming thickened, usually as the result of a cough or cold.

There is a fine tube that runs from the middle ear to the back of the throat called the 'eustachian tube' and this becomes blocked by this sticky fluid, or mucus.

This in turn leads to a pressure build up in the ear which is released when you talk, swallow, blow your nose or eat. This is why your ears pop.

Sometimes people suffering from ETD get crackling noises in their ears or deafness.

The deafness is usually temporary and is as a result of the normal flexible ear drum, or tympanic membrane, becoming stiff as a result of the increased pressure behind it.

The ear drum is therefore unable to move when a sound wave hits it and so the sound is muffled when it is heard.

The crackling is due to the mucus moving within the middle ear.

It is the blockage of the euastachian tube that causes pain in the ears when flying as the changes in air pressure make it difficult for the pressure across the ear drum to equalise.

This causes the ear drum to be stretched, which is painful.

There is no one successful treatment for ETD but simple measures such as inhaling steam regularly can be very effective.

I usually recommend that you steam with your mouth open to allow the maximum amount of steam up in the nasal passages and the eustachian tube until you can either hear your ears cracking or until your nose starts to run.

You should then blow one nostril at a time until there is nothing left to blow!

Medications that can help include decongestants such as pseudoephidrine, available in tablet, or nose spray form.

This can be bought 'over-the -counter'. Alternatively, your doctor could prescribe a steroid nose spray to help.

I would reassure you that ETD tends to run a long, varying cause, but usually has no long-term effects on the hearing.

If your symptoms persist, I'm sure your doctor would be only to happy to check you over when you are next home on leave.

What is this crackling & popping noise inside my ears when I blow my nose?

I don't think there's any reason to see your doctor in this instance so long as the crackling and popping doesn't hurt. If it hurts, then there might be too much pressure or an infection or something. With that said, here is what is most likely happening: You have sinus cavities at your ears that can get filled with fluid when you're sick (esp. w/ like, a cold or the flu). Eventually, however, as you start getting better and the mucous can clear out, it will drain to the back of your throat. There are many ways to go about this draining process, but since you are just getting over a bad cold, as the mucous has "started to flow" again instead of being all stuffy, when you blow your nose, you are pushing out the mucous and clearing those sinus cavities. Because it's being done suddenly and forcefully, you end up "hearing" a crackling/popping sound.

Decongestants would get rid of this if it's a problem since they dry out your sinuses, and a hot bath/shower might help as well.

I hope this makes sense. You're basically just "hearing" the sudden drainage from the force of blowing your nose.

Why do I hear a ticking sound in my head after blowing my nose?

You are likely hearing trapped air inside your sinuses moving the bubbles of phlegm it is trapped in. Blowing your nose pulls phlegm from the sinus cavity by a venturi effect, temporarily reducing sinus pressure. The reduced outside pressure allows the trapped air to expand, which makes a clicking or crackling sound as the thick, sticky phlegm bubbles burst and combine. The crackling continues as the outside pressure returns, shrinking those bubbles which did not burst. It is the thick, sticky nature of the phlegm which makes it noisy when it moves.

Bubbles in ear when blowing nose?

It could be, and then it might not be, normal.

There's a Eustacian tube connecting your nose and your ears, which is why you can pop your ears in a plane or chew gum and yawn to balance the inside and outside air pressure.

So. You might be able to hear yourself blowing bubbles when blowing your nose. Or you might have blown some mucous behind your eardrum. Or, worst case, you may have blown hard enough to rupture the eardrum.

That last one means go see your doctor before this gets to be a serious mess.

My ear makes a crackling noise when I push on it ?

Warm some peroxide in the micro for a few seconds....test it..so it is not too hot, just warm....then put your head on a folded towel....put some peroxide in the lid of the bottle...then into your ear....leave it in there for about 15 min. Then turn your head and do the other ear. Sounds like you have a bunch of gunk in your ear. The Dr. would get a big syringe and squirt water into your eat, holding a pan under it.....wouldn't believe what would come out.
Stuff will be on the towel also. Hope you do not use Q tips they cannot clean your ear, they only push stuff farther in towards the ear drum. Not Good. I will never understand how people think if they shove a cotton stick in their ear it will be able to pick up the wax that is in the ear, no, it just shoves it farther in...there may be traces of wax on the cotton, but there are CHUNKS of wax in the ear.....shoved farther in each time.

Go to an Ear, Nose & Throat Dr...they can show them to you on a little screen. Probe inside the ear, shows the inside of your ear on the screen.

Why does my nose crackle after blowing it?

More than likely it's your sinuses and not your nose that are still clogged up- as allergies do tend to inflame the sinus passages and can give you a 'stuffy' feeling without it actually being mucus. If you can try a netti pot to rinse your sinuses out with a saline solution to help clear the debris out and help reduce the inflammation.

Why the squeaking noise in my ear when I blow my nose?

DON'T WORRY.:-) THE SQUEEZING NOISE IS BECAUSE OF A NATURAL CONNECTION(tube) BETWEEN OUR EAR AND NOSE..IT IS CALLED 'EUSTACHIAN TUBE'..IT IS A MECHANISM TO BALANCE THE PRESSURE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE YOUR EAR...YOUR EUSTACHIAN TUBE MA BE CLOSED TEMPORARILY DUE TO COLD OR ANY INFECTIONS INCLUDING SINUS INFECTION .THAT IS WHY YOU ARE HAVING HEARING PROBLEM.. AND WHEN YOU BLOW YOUR NOSE, IT OPENS AND AIR ENTERS MIDDLE EAR..THIS ACCOUNTS FOR THE SQUEEZING NOISE..DON'T WORRY, IT WILL NOT HARM YOU IN ANY WAY.:-)

Is it normal to have a crackling sound in your ear every time you swallow?

No. It may be a pressure buildup or a function of sinus inflammation in the nasal passage and canal; or the buildup of moisture. I’d recommend seeing a Doctor, and if they don’t seem competent, an ENT specialist. You may need an ear-syringe to clear out wax buildup, or at the least, sinus irrigation to remove mucus or debris.
