When I Click To Open An E-mail In Yahoo I Get Redirected To A Malicious Web Site My Virus

Why do a get redirected to a different site everytime time I click a certain link?

You've probably got some malware that exploits a browser vulnerability. I would try running SpyBot and AdAware, and if that doesn't get it, try Microsoft's malicious software removal tool, or an anti-virus program like AVG or Avast. Here are the links, if you're unable to search for them:

Spybot: http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.h...
AdAware: http://www.lavasoft.com/
MS Malicious Software Removal Tool: http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwar...
AVG: http://www.avg.com/us-en/homepage
Avast!: http://www.avast.com/index

All of those programs are free, or have free home-use versions that work just as well as the commercial versions.

If it's a really nasty piece of software, and it won't let you download anything either, you can sometimes go on a different computer, download the software and put them on a disc or a thumb drive and then take them back to your computer to install.

If none of that works, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling your browser, or using Windows system restore.

Why do I get redirected to a totally different website when I click on a link from my search engine?

It could be spyware which has hijacked your internet explorer redirecting you to the bogus site

If you do not have firefox get it now and use it instead of internet explorer so you dont get any more spyware http://securitynewsfromthenet.blogspot.com/

(1) If you have not already scanned your comp with spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html do that now .Update it and then run it so it gets rid of all the spyware and trojans in safe mode http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html

(2) Do an online virus scan to check if you still have viruses on your computer. And let us know if the online virus scan still finds any virus or spyware .

My web browser is being redirected to unrelated and malicious web sites?

I've been working on a similar problem for the last two days. It was a rootkit infection. Usually a program called "Combofix" deals well with these, but no luck this time. A rootkit finder called "Gmer" helped me locate the offending file, which turned out to be an infected Windows system file in the system32 folder: "ws2_32.dll."

Try Combofix first; download and follow the instructions here:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

If you're still being redirected after this process, go to "C:\WINDOWS\system32" and find "ws2_32.dll." Close all browsers and rename the file "ws2_32.dll.BAK." Now you need to find a clean version of the same file. Downloading from the internet may not be safe or easy, so I suggest copying the file from someone else's clean computer running the same OS version. You should also check your "C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache" folder and rename the same file in the same way if it's in there. (You don't have to put a clean copy of the file in there though.)

Good luck!

Please Help.I'm redirected to an irrelevant site?!?

Your system is infected with the "Search Redirect Virus". Not only does it cause the annoying redirects, but it can also "hide" from your anti virus, meaning you would not conclude that you have a virus. It does this by the way it infects your system.

Your anti virus is designed to detect and remove malicious software or harmful processes, which is can do easily. However, this virus operates differently. It manages to infect a system file, allowing it to still cause the redirects without using a process, meaning that your anti virus is oblivious to the situation.

The system file in question is the one used to handle redirect requests, made by a search engine once you click a link. This file is shared amongst all your web browsers so this effect will occur in them all. I wouldn't know why it would occur through a direct link only but my guess would be that a cached link does not use this file to direct you.

The best way to remove this is not to use a restore procedure, as the virus has the ability to linger, rendering the whole exercise pointless. The best way to remove this, in my experience, is to use a program called ComboFix. This is an excellent program at dealing with the sources of the error. You can find it here, along with a decent tutorial, for free:

Simply clicking on a malicious link does not necessarily mead that your computer is now infected, but is a good idea to check regardless. The first thing you should do in run a full scan with your antivirus. If you don’t have an antivirus then you need to get one. Currently Bitdefender is considered the best for both Mac and Windows. While the scan is running, check on your browser settings for any changes. Specifically you are looking for the following:Homepage and “On Start-Up”: Often malware will change you homepage. Change it back to your normal Google or whatever you use. It may say the homepage is being managed by a particular extension. If so you will want to remove that first.Browser extensions or Add-Ons: Another favorite of malware. Check for any that you don’t recognize. Extensions can be a huge vulnerability so always remove any extension that you are not certain of.Next check you applications folder. If there are any apps that you don’t recognize you’ll want to remove them. Finally you’ll want to check your Library folder for malicious files. This is a more advanced task so if you are not comfortable doing it yourself you may consider seeking the help of a Apple certified technician. The locations in question are as follows:Note that there are two Library folders, the system library is /Library/ and the user’s library is /Users/yourusername/Library/ . You’ll want to mirror the steps below in both places/Library/LaunchAgents & /Library/LaunchDaemons - These are the programs and services that start up automatically when you log in. The files inside are named com.programname.plist. If there are any programs that you don’t recognize you’ll want to google them before you delete them./Library/Startup Items - This folder hasn’t been used since around 10.6. If you find anything inside it is either extremely outdated or maliciousOnce you’ve checked all these areas and the antivirus scan completes, either finding nothing or successfully removing anything found, you can be reasonably sure that your system is safe to use.

I can't get rid of this Google redirect virus!?!?!?!?

Download Malwarebytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org/ restart your computer in safe mode (press F8 while the computer is booting) and do a deep scan.

Run Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool - http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwar...

Run sfc /scannow - http://www.microsoft.com/resources/docum... - from the command prompt

If none of the above work then go to the Kaspersky website page at http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/solutions?qid=208280684

If your computer still redirects after all of the above then your system files have probably been changed by the virus and you're probably best off doing a full reinstall.

If you don’t create redirects maybe you was hacked. Hacker could break your password to your domain panel and set a redirect in DNS. Another possibility is that your website was hacked and malware redirects your traffic.I recommend scanning your website with an online scanner as for example Sucuri Security and for sure add it to website management tool like Perfect Dashboard. You could make backups, update and also make integrity test and malware scans. In the report, you will see suspicious places in your files and you will be able to remove it.For sure you must find a hole where this malware came on your site and fix it.If you want to see more you can look at our dedicated website about hacked sites: Perfect Dashboard - Have you been hacked?
