When I Get Mad I Swear Very Badly Am I Okay High Blood Pressure

My blood pressure is usually around 88/56. Is this OK?

According to the chart linked below you BP is a bit low----you should probably check with your doctor, especially since you are having dizzy spells.

The other day I did my blood pressure and it was pretty high?

I think it's great that you are checking your BP and concerned about controlling it, if necessary.

As others have said, BP constantly varies, so one high reading is not something to worry *too much* over. That said, I would suggest you ask your pharmacist to recommend an automated digital blood pressure cuff, so that you can take your BP when you are relaxed at home. (Get the kind of cuff that goes above the elbow, not the wrist.) They only cost about $50 and are well worth it, IMO. Sit in a chair with your feet on the floor and relax a few minutes before taking the reading. Morning is often best.

One of the easiest dietary factors to control is your sodium intake. You may find that if you simply watch your sodium by reading food labels and not adding salt to foods you will be able to reduce your BP. Eating fruits high in potassium may also reduce your BP (oranges, bananas, etc.)

Can high blood pressure cause mood swings?

Since then, other investigations have found connections between hypertension and psychological distress. British researchers reported that patients with hypertension were particularly likely to have a history of panic attacks, or sudden feelings of terror that strike repeatedly and unexpectedly. And a study by New York Presbyterian Hospital (NYPH) showed that psychological trauma, whether recent or in the past, can lead to chronic episodes of surging blood pressure accompanied by symptoms such as chest pain, nausea, and shortness of breath. How can mood affect blood pressure?Depression and anxiety often lead people to smoke, drink excessively, and gain weight, behaviors that can definitely promote hypertension and heart disease. But the CDC study suggests that the connection between mood and hypertension may be more direct than that. Experts suspect that anxiety and depression put the body on constant alert, which places a strain on many organ systems.(Health day)I have friends with high blood pressure. I have friends who have been hospitalized because their moods, outbursts caused serious health problems.Meditation, yoga exercise are things everyone should do to be calm. Exercise and meditation have kept me out of trouble and alive.

Why do we sweat so profusely before vomiting? What is the physiology behind this sweating response?

I agree that the sweating is ‘along for the ride’ as stated by another responder. The autonomic nervous system mediates both vomiting and sweating, and so in some people the specific response, vomiting, causes a generalized autonomic response, including sweating. Also, they are sometimes are triggered by the same thing— for example nausea/vomiting is common during gastroenteritis, and people often have a fever from that type of illness— and sweating occurs during fever, especially when a fever is breaking. And also ... vomiting is a very traumatic event for some people, and sweating is a common manifestation of anxiety.A general point: arguments about how the body SHOULD act— such as saying that the sweat is caused by the body wanting to cool itself, or that the body is trying to eliminate something by sweating— are called ‘teleological arguments’. Laypersons tend to think in those terms; that the body does things in order to accomplish something else. But in reality, the body doesn’t always do the right thing. There are mechanisms that developed over millions of years of evolution, created by the fact that organisms with the primitive form of these responses tended to have a greater survival than organisms without the responses. But occasionally an individual response is at odds with what is happening with that individual, in the present time. For example fever evolved for whatever reason— assumedly increasing survival during infection. But in an age of antibiotics, fever sometimes gets in the way— and even results in unnecessary brain damage or death. THAT’S the problem with teleology; it doesn’t hold up well during times when the body is acting in an ‘unhelpful’ manner.

Does fighting with boyfriend hurt my unborn baby?

My boyfriend and I have a HUGE argument once a month about how he needs to get a job and other issues.
I get VERY upset, I cry and scream and storm about and he screams. Last night it happened again when he came home at midnight hanging out with friends instead of finding a job!!! I got so upset I felt like hurting myself. I think I got so upset because I am so hormonal and also the stress of worrying about him not supporting us is really hard on me.
While I was crying and screaming all of a sudden my baby got SUPER active and I felt him kicking and squirming. I worried I was scaring him so I immediatly stopped crying and composed myself, I am 20 weeks and I feel him move daily but never like this, He was actaully reacting to my being upset. As soon as I calmed down he was still. I have felt him move several times since the fight but never in the way that he did while we were fighting.
I feel really bad about it because it obviously did something to him to get him to move like that. I am vowing never to get upset like that again and I am leaving my boyfriend until he finds a job. But I am worried it has already taken some kind of effect on my baby. We have had at least 5 bad fights since my being pregnant.
Did I scare my baby, did he feel the stress and upset I was feeling? I always worried our fighting would hurt the baby and after he moved like that when we were it is clear to me it is doing something to him.
Has this ever happened to anyone else while pregnant?
Thank you.
