When I Inhale My Left Side Ribs Start To Hurt

Why does my rib hurt on my left side?

When I touch it it hurts or if I lay the wrong way it hurts. When I touch it it feels like it's wobbling or loose. It's a sharp pain only on my left side and comes like maybe once a month. It's in the front of my body. And its really bothering me right now. The last time it hurt was around the beginning of February. So if someone could help and tell me what's wrong it would be greatly appreciated.

Why does the left side of my ribs hurt when I breathe?

There are several factors that would come into play here to help determine what may be causing this pain. I wouldn't jump to conclusions and think that it was a lung issue or rib issue without first ruling out a mustle pull/strain. Chances are, if you are not in excruciating pain where you want nothing else but to go to the ER, it is probably a muscular issue. You may not remember how it happened, it could have been a twisting motion you did at some point where the pain started the following day. You could have slept on your side wrong. Depending on how long you have had this pain, I would proceed with cautious observation. Avoid strenuous exercise for a few days to allow the injury to heal, and use warm compresses for a few moments at a time on the painful area. If the pain persists, see your primary care physician, or go to a walk-in clinic for an evaluation. Without listening to your lungs with a stethascope, it is difficult to get a good idea what is going on with your lungs. Hope this helps. Please e-mail with any questions you may have.

Bottom half of my left lung/rib hurts!?

Have you got any pain radiating through your chin, jaw, left shoulder or left arm? If so, call an ambulance or get to emergency immediately as could be sign of heart attack (yes, know you are only 19, but this does not preclude a heart attack!)

Alternatively, this could be:

Costochondritis - which is the inflammation of the cartilage and bones of the ribs - though this normally occurs between the ribs and breast bone (front of chest) rather than the side.
Often this pain is worsened by deep breaths, and touching the area can be painful.

If touching the area does not increase pain, then I would suspect the cause is from the underlying organs rather than the bones. In the left lower rib area, this would be the stomach, pancreas or spleen.

1) It could be something you have eaten, which is causing your stomach to spasm.
2) An infection that is affecting the spleen (major immune system organ) though this would also result in a fever.
3) Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) - though this is excruciatingly painful, and you would be doubled over in pain, and screaming - so, not likely to be this unless mild.
4) Could be as simple as a muscle strain, caused by an awkward sleeping position during your nap.
5) Could be caused by back ache, which radiated to ribs.

If the pain does not go away within 24 hours, go to your GP to get checked.
But if the pain gets a lot worse, starts to interfere with your breathing, or starts radiating through your jaw and arm seek immediate medical attention.

Pain in my left side when I breathe?

Pain on deep inhalation is usually a symptom of a micro fracture of the rib or an inflammation of one of its muscle attachments.See if the pain increases greatly when you deeply inspire and press the painful region. If it does, a hot pack over the painful region couple of times a day should ease the pain.

Pain under left rib cage hurts 2 breath in deep?

URGENT! SHARP PAIN WHEN BREATHING IN DEEPLY IN RIBS?

Well, I'm definitely not a Doctor but since I've had similar symptoms I'm gonna give answering this question a shot! Have you fallen down lately or bumped into anything, or had anyone or anything bump into you? If so, you may have cracked a rib. When you breath in deep your lungs expand, which makes your rib cage expand to accommodate them, so a cracked rib can cause A LOT of pain if that's what's going on. If you've have no recent injury to that area, it could be that you've pulled a muscle. Have you recently been very active or started a new exercise regemin? Both of those can cause sore/pulled muscles and the rib cage is a very muscular area. Finally, is the pain in the middle of the rib cage or more severe on one side or the other? If it's in the middle you could have a hernia. If it's more prominent on one side or the other, it might not be your ribs that are hurting at all, but one of your organs that are "tucked away" under the rib cage as you ribs don't just contain/protect your heart and lungs, but also several other organs (which ones it could be would depend on which side of your rib cage hurts). These are just SUGGESTIONS as to what it could be - as I said above, I'm not a Doctor! I know you said "please don't say 'go to your Doctor'", but if the pain continues or gets worse, you really do need to go get checked out by a trained professional. I hope this helps a bit - take care and good luck to you!

Pain under ribs and hurts to breathe? :/?

Your back muscles tightened up (back pain first day) to cause the pain there. When your back muscles are tight they can press into the nerves going around your body to send pains into the rib, chest or heart areas as well. Your back muscles weren't in pain today but were still tight to cause the pressure on the nerves. When taking deep breathes your ribs are expanding into the nerves to add to the pain. To get rid of the pain you have to release your back muscles to free up the tight ones pressing into the nerves and here's how to do that release:
Back:
(do while sitting on a chair)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front, and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm as straight as possible. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, then release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
