When I Scratch I Get Welts

I get these itchy raised welts along my stomach when I were pants?

They look like hives, but are the same width as my belt. I don't think my belt it too tight. After a few days they actually start bleeding and scabbing over. Any idea what's going on?

Why do I swell and itch when a cat scratched me?

Cat scratch fever, also called cat scratch disease(CSD), is a bacterial infection. The disease gets its name because people contract it from cats infected with Bartonella henselae bacteria, one of the most common bacteria in the world.

Small scratches turned into huge welts?

You probably are dealing with an infection, Kristina. But, that might not be a result
of your scratching it. It's possible that you're allergic to the hydrogen peroxide; it's
actually a very week substitute for putting on wounds. (And if it caused the wound
to sting, that would make it hard to resist you're having continued to scratch it.)
If I were you, I'd put something stronger on it: some sort of ointment, or ask your
local pharmacist what they would suggest. Neosporin might work well, until you do
see a doctor; then the doctor can give you some sort of prescription medication --
and prescription medications are usually much stronger than anything "over the
counter" stuff.
Good luck.

When my cat scratches me I get these raised bumps on my skin?

It sounds like you might be allergic to cats. Take some Benadryl and put a little hydrogen peroxide on the wound to clean it. Anti-itch cream like Cortaid can help reduce the redness and itching. If it happened while you were playing with the cat, wearing long sleeves next time (or jeans, depending on where kitty likes to scratch you) can help.

If a dog scratches but there are no marks of bleeding would it be dangerous and what is the minimum time period to get tetanus or any other way to cure after the scratch?

If a dog scratched you, but the scratch did not break the surface of the skin, wash the area with soap and water, dry it thoroughly to prevent it from getting chapped, and watch the area for a few hours to make sure no extreme redness or welts develop. If none of the above happens, you will not need to seek any further medical treatment. If you do develop any pain, redness or welts, visit your doctor or emergency room for a check up. You may have an allergy to the dog or something it came into contact with that was on it's paw when it scratched you. A tetanus shot is usually only needed for skin puncture wounds. But if you are experiencing pain, swelling, redness, welts or serious itching where you were scratched, it wouldn't hurt to get looked at by a doctor.

Cat scratches and bites get puffy?

The swelling associated with a cut is actually white blood cells on their way to the site to counteract any pathogens that might be trying to enter your bloodstream. Any cut, no matter how tiny or big, will swell at the site for this reason (even if its minuscule). Its perfectly normal, and if it DIDN'T swell, that is when you would have cause for concern. Were you thinking it was some kind of toxin that immobilized its prey? ;)
