How can making BBM available on Android and iOS benefit BlackBerry's business?
I think Blackberry will use different business model. As a user's point of view, nowadays the source of Blackberry's revenue was given from :1. Sales of device (B2C)It's clear enough. No need more explanation.2. Contract with telecom operator.This is the story in my country. Maybe in another country it won't be so much different. You can't access BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) with 'standard' packet data. Standard packet data flow is like this :Your device --> Telecom Operator's Cache / Proxy --> Internetand vice versaBut if you want to access BIS, the telecom operator must have a contract with Blackberry. I don't know if it's a rumor or not. But I'm pretty sure that the telecom operator have to pay a lot for having contract with Blackberry. For example, in my country, you can pay about $3 - $5 / month for using 'standard' packet data. But if you want to use BBM you must pay different for different package, which is more expensive from $6 - $10 / month.IMHO, maybe Blackberry will have more competitors. They're going to have to compete with other Messenger apps, which is cheaper, more global (100++ million users), more stickers (or emo) such as Whatsapp / Line / Kakao Talk / WeChat. To sum up, Blackberry may use different business model and should give more value proposition to its device buyers and BBM users.Sorry for my bad grammar and vocabulary.

How does making BBM available to iOS and Android users help BlackBerry?
I have a mixed opinion on this. Blackberry had the most market share earlier and BBM was one of the main services behind that. Then came Whatsapp and so many other cross-platform messaging services. With not a huge user base in early stages in whatsapp, if BBM had come for android and iOS that time only( there were rumours 2 years back), it would have helped blackberry as they would have cross-platform customers across BB, iOS and android. Now, when most of the people use whatsapp, add to it its mere $1 per year charge, its tough to say if it would help now. However even if it does work with better service, it will encourage people to use BBM on iOS and android and not help in the growth of blackberry devices share. It will be interesting to see what strategy are they adopting and what outcome are they predicting from this.

Why the hell do people still use bbm? Whatsapp is way more awesome. I have the bbm app on my iphone simply because if 3 or so contacts who are my good friends. But im wondering why they still use it and hardly update or touch their whatsapp profiles. So, why do people still use it, i personally think that its outdated. What do you think?
