When Is It Going To Become An Issue We Have The Irs Targeting People The App And Media Thing

What has happened to the people in the IRS after they admitted to targeting "conservatives" roughly a year ago?

The claims were settled.Justice Department settles with conservative groups over IRS scrutinyIf anything happened to the individuals involved within the IRS, I didn’t hear about it (the linked report indicates no charges were ever filed against any individuals, but I don’t know if they faced internal disciplinary action).

Would there be more press coverage of the IRS' targeting of conservative groups if it happened in reverse under Trump, rather than under Obama?

Tea Party groups were given more scrutiny because those are the entities whose entire Raison D'êtres is to avoid paying taxes, and thus are more likely to try to cheat on them. When someone’s wife is killed, the police always check out the husband’s alibi first. It’s called playing the numbers. It’s funny how Republicans have no problem profiling Blacks, Hispanics, and Muslims, but in this case….“This is the worst kind of discrimination, the kind against ME!”There’s no evidence that Obama was even behind it in the first place. If you really want to talk about playing favorites, Trump just pulled out of the Paris Climate Accord (who gives a s*** about the planet, right?) because he thought it would be good for his supporters for him to do so.He did the same thing when he changed his mind about pulling out of NAFTA. The guy caters entirely to his own voters. He’s nothing close to a “president for all Americans”, which he promised he would be at his first speech after the election.Obama was given a non-stop stream of criticism during his presidency, so no, there wouldn’t really be any more coverage.

We keep hearing "Wait till we get a look at Trump's tax returns." Why do we have to wait? The IRS has the returns. If there's fraud and corruption, why aren't they going after him?

OMG!Do we understand that the way we are “accepting” the way President Trump is being treated the Fascists are getting their way?Another answer mentioned Trump is one of the most audited companies and persons in the country, yet the New York AG’s deliberate selection of him to “find a crime” is NOT the American way. Trump was duly elected and to target him for political reasons is OUTRAGEOUS!So now anyone they don't like becomes a target of the government apparatus? Is this ok?Reasonable people will think NOT.Does she (NYC AG) think she cannot be investigated as well? What happened to Michael Avanti and Stormy Daniels? They were not investigated, but it didn't go well for them.Does anyone remember what the Dems did to Romney? Lied about his taxes, then Harry Reid bragged that “he didn't win did he?”Would you release your taxes for people to pull all sorts of normal things out and twist them to half truths, knowing most people are not going to do the research to find out if there are real crimes? They will eat everything the only media they are “allowed” to listen to tells them.Similarly, just as there is no evidence of collusion, the globalists are down to campaign finance issues AFTER ALL THIS CHAOS. This is pathetic. The tax issue is the next iteration of trying to find something in desperation.President Trump is governing very well and his poll numbers are on par with Obama's at the same time in his presidency, in spite of all the negative press designed to cloud your thinking. As big tech suppresses diversity of thought, what will happen to YOU when you get out if line, think for yourself? Will they audit your LIFE and put it on display? To answer the question, fraud and “corruption” would have been dealt with long ago if there were issues. The new AG in NYC just doesn't know it.If this was who you voted for, would it be ok? Is this the country you want?N O.

What techniques are currently being used in US politics to distract voters from the real issues?

I agree with Neel that nobody's "using" techniques to distract people, we get distracted very easily by matter of course. I agree with Matt that the biggest issues that captivate the public are those which are either totally insignificant, or completely intractable. The things that distract us are things like tabloid television, filling the news with celebrity gossip, entertainment "news" and human interest stories instead of things that actually affect our lives. Also, the art of punditry, which turns politics into another medium of entertainment and self-important argument rather than real analysis. The thing is, I don't want to make it seem like I think someone's doing this on purpose. By and large, the stuff that's getting sold is what the people are buying. That's a big part of the basis of capitalism.  If people wanted real news, reporting and solid analysis of the issues that really affect us, then the Jim Lehrer Newshour would be the highest rated news show on television, instead of Fox News.People want scandal, they want simplicity, they want to be confirmed in what they already think and they want issues that it's easy to have strong opinions on. Present an issue that's complex, nuanced and defies simple analysis, and most Americans will turn around and pay more attention to what's sensational, scandalous and entertaining. Voters are distracted from the real issues because they want to be distracted from the real issues. If it wasn't the stuff we have now distracting us, it would be something else. We'd find something to distract us, because the alternative is actually deal with them.

What's the best Donald Trump joke you have heard?

A grocer owned a parrot.Every day, he would put the parrot cage outside, in front of his store, so the bird could catch a bit of sunshine. One morning, down the street comes Trump. The bird, happy to have an audience, starts screaming: ‘’Impeach Trump!!! Impeach Trump!!!’’This annoys Trump to the fullest but he says nothing, just walks by.The following day, Trumps comes around again and the parrot starts again: ‘’Impeach Trump!!!’’ ‘’Impeach Trump!!!’’Now Trump is getting really upset, he stares down the parrot, emits a few curses and leaves. The third day, the parrot continues his screaming as Trump approaches and Trump has enough.Storming into the store, he gives a piece of his mind to the grocer: ‘’If I hear that bird again, I will strangle him with my own hands and see that your store never sees a client for the rest of your miserable life!’’The grocer is very afraid, he has no control over the bird, he knows that whatever he does, he is lost. Then, he starts thinking… Our parish priest has a parrot, maybe, if I explain the problem, the priest will let me exchange birds until things calm down. And so, it is done. Next morning, the grocer puts out the priest’s parrot in front of the store and anxiously waits for Trump. As expected, Trump comes by, the bird is silent. Trump tries to stare it down, walks around it, but still not a word. Trump is speechless: how can it be? He says nothing and continues his walk.Same thing the next day, and the next.On the fourth day, Trump, being Trump, cannot take it anymore. He walks up to the bird and whispers to him: ‘’Impeach Trump, Impeach Trump’’, the bird ruffles its feathers but makes no sound.Maybe he did not hear me… so Trump, tries a bit louder: ‘’Impeach Trump, Impeach Trump’’, but still not a word from the bird. This gets Trump mad as hell; he wanted to wring this bird’s neck so bad and he has no reason to do it now. Getting real close to the parrot’s ears, he yells at the top of his lungs: ‘’Impeach Trump, Impeach Trump!!!’’The bird slowly turns its head, stares at Trump and calmly says: ‘’May God answer your prayers, my son!’’
