Why don't Muslims who are truly opposed to terrorism, renounce Islam and condemn Muhammad?

The question being asked is:Why don't Muslims who are truly opposed to terrorism, renounce Islam and condemn Muhammad?Many very good analogies have been given on this one, and what I will do is offer (to start this post, another analogy:With all of the controversy surrounding priests being pedophiles, and the church covering it up, Why don’t Christians renounce Christianity and condemn Jesus Christ?As you can see, this can be turned in any direction, based upon someone, (or something) being done, and because of this, scrapping the entire religion, and religious beliefs based upon NOT the base ideas or faiths of any religion, but because of things that have absolutely nothing to do with the actual religion.The IRA in Ireland was made up of Catholics that bombed and did terrorist acts against the Protestants in the North of Ireland. Should ALL Catholics give up Catholicism because of those terrorist acts of the IRA? Of course they shouldn’t.I know the argument by some is going to be: “But that’s not really Christianity”, well, The terrorist acts that you ask of, aren’t really Islam.I could also say if you want examples of Horror acts of Christianity, let’s look at the “Spanish Inquisition”, or the “Crusades” the killing of people who didn’t die of the Black Death, thus killing them as being witches.So, to make this short and sweet, The acts have nothing to do with the religion, or all religions would need to be renounced for their actions in the past.

Absolutely yes.Anyone who says otherwise hasn't read the quran(or is in denial).Let me quote some ayats from the quran(which I will obviously be blamed to have taken out of context,but when they pick up some decent ones that is by default,in context):Quran 2:19-"And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah [disbelief] is worse than killing...but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah [disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah] and worship is for Allah alone. But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zalimun (the polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.)2:216 Warfare is ordained for you, though it is hateful unto you; but it may happen that ye hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that ye love a thing which is bad for you.
