Obama nominated Judge Merrick Garland to fill Justice Scalia’s seat on the Supreme Court on March 16, 2016, about a month after Scalia’s death. Garland was the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and a moderate who was highly regarded and well respected by both Democrats and Republicans.However, the Senate was controlled by Republicans and within hours of Scalia’s death leader Mitch McConnell said that Obama shouldn’t be allowed to choose a successor in his final year as president, a rule that never existed up to that point.Justice Antonin Scalia was considered the most conservative member of the Supreme Court. His death left the court evenly divided, with 4 left-leaning justices and 4 right-leaning. Many major Supreme Court decisions in recent years have fallen on partisan 5-4 votes. I think it was under Reagan that the justice department approved racial profiling for use to establish probable cause ie you don’t meet the demographic of this area thus I have reason to believe there is a possibility that you might be doing something illegal and almost every state appellate court ruled it unconstitutional .This is not North Korea yet !

What would you personally be willing to give up to balance the federal budget?
War. I'd give up war to balance the budget. Aid to foreign countries that hate us. I think we should pack up our hospitals, schools, food banks and save that money for AMERICANS. Especially when they resent us being there. I'd give up Welfare to illegal aliens. I think that government help should be brief, temporary and available only to citizens who need it. I'd give up politicians giving themselves raises and using taxpayer money to buy themselves cars, houses, stables full of horses, ski resorts...and call girls. I'd give up government corruption and wasteful spending. EDIT TO ADD: Why should I give up anything? LOL! The deficit was caused by greedy, selfish politicians and their criminal actions. It's caused by idiots who keep throwing money at people that hate us. Why should I suffer for their criminally stupid behavior? You are playing right into their hands. They WANT you giving up all your liberties. Why do you think schools in America are under funded?
The problem is funding. When money is dedicated to the education sector it rarely reaches the places it is needed most. Teachers are under paid and under appreciated. Many schools are forced to spend money on feeding low income children breakfast and lunch rather than using the $ for school supplies. It's easy to blame a lack of money for the problems facing our school systems. But there are many social factors that affect the policies that drive the school system forward. Bureaucracy prevents our tax dollars from reaching the places they need to go.
