When Should I Start Studying For The Junior Cert

My Friend is cheating in her Junior Cert ...?

Ok first of all her grade will not improve with tiny notes in her pencil case, if shes stupid enough to cheat in a state exam then shes stupid enough to fail.

I don't think you should bother wasting time on this girl, you will obviously do much better than her. Anyway karma will bite her in the as* when shes doing the LC if she keeps acting like this.

Good luck! (I'm doing the JC too)

How much study for Junior Cert?

Hey I just did my Junior Cert too...i get where you're coming from with the whole extra stuff too cz i went for my black belt in tae kwon do and did music exams and stuff. Trust me, you'll be grand. I'm fierce lazy and I survived so...the thing is that not many people actually stick to the study plans they make so instead of doing a fixed study plan, you should make a weekly one instead and include all the stuff you enjoy doing as well, like watching tv or sports or whatever. It's more flexible that way. You should start making notes on your first and second year work at the end of october, start of november. Take two topics a night, maybe more at the weekend, read over them and make notes, the shorter the better. Ideally, your notes should be 9 or 10 words which really isn't a lot but you'll associate these words with the topic in the exam and it'll all come flooding back to you. Don't spend more then an hour a night studying cz it should be enough if you start early. When it comes to doing this years work, you should stay a minute at the end of each class and do a summary of what you covered that day. Again, just jot down 9 or 10 words that're easy to remember. My dad's a lecturer and this is how his best students study. It actually works too. I'm horrible with paying attention and all but these techniques are really quick and easy and they work and they leave you free to do the things you actually want to do. The exams are grand once you're actually doing them too. Oh and your teachers will be giving you revision for your homework as well and read over loads of exam papers. Good luck x x x

For people who have just taken their GCSE's/Junior Cert?

1: Did you study for your exams?

No, well in the bath, does that count? I only did any work the night before, if I pass i'm going to sign a check for the writers of the revise wises :)

#2: Were you happy with how you did at the time?

I can't really remember, it's all a blur. I know I did better than a lot of people but I was still terrified I failed :(

#3: Were they easier/harder than you thought they would be?

Maths paper 1 was sh*t hard, German was quite hard but it was confusing and I find I don't have time to do as well as I can in the time they give you. I'm fairly confident I may have gotten Bs in Science and Irish, all i did was draw all over the desk and in the book and talk, a lot. Most of the exams were easy enough, didn't like the Home ec one either but I managed fine or I hope at least :)

#4: Are you worried about the results? Absolutely f*cking terrified. I had a dream where my examiner started chasing me and another where I woke up and forgot about the exams then I remembered I had already done them and slept till 2 :)

#5: What do you think you will get? Really not sure, I hope I got a few As, got all honors in my mocks but I'm worried I failed maths...ah well bring on ordinary I say. I think I'll do well in history, religion, geography, art, english, Irish, Science (can you believe that I'm actually expecting to do well in Science!!) eh can't even remember the rest of my subjects but I'll be happy if I pass maths to be honest, if I don't that will have been a waste of a rain forest ;) Also think they might take marks off me in CSPE for insulting the Donegal accent :/

At least it's only the junior cert ;)

EDIT: I want to do Ethics and politics too, imagine it must be like CSPE for your leaving cert

My mock exams for junior cert?

relax, the mock junior cert result is the most unimportant exam you will ever do in your life, in two years time you went even remember what you got in your actual junior cert. Wait till your doing the leaving, better still, wait till you in college and you have an essay due at 10 in the moring and at's 11:30 the night before and you haven't even started it... and realise drinkin 10 vodka straights in under half an hour... was not a good idea.

Thats pressure. so relax, much worse is to come!

Junior cert ...pls urgent ?

Ok so i am starting my junior cert on the 6th of
June and i am having real trouble motivating myself to
study like i plan to on the weekends but i always just
wander off and on school nights after homework i do be
wrecked ........please please help i really want to do well
(i do all honours). Thanks X

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU PASSED YOUR JUNIOR CERT?

An E, F or NG is a fail, an A,B,C or D is a pass.

If you get an A, B or C in a higher level subject, it's an honour grade.
If you get a D in a higher level subject, or an A,B,C or D in an ordinary level subject, it's a pass.
If you get an A, B or C in your CSPE exam, it's also an honour grade.

The bottom of the sheet's telling you what grade each percentage is worth. So for your C grade, it's telling you you got between 55% and 70%. And for your D grade, it's saying you got between 40% and 55%.

Haha, pick me as the best answer, it was my birthday the day before the results came out, and my answer was well better than Je m'appelle...'s. XD

What happens if you fail a subject in the junior cert ?

Don't worry about it...i did the junior 2 years ago and one of my friends failed 3 subjects!! she just went down to pass for the leaving. Don't stress about it like i did...it just makes you more nervous. And you will be fine and it's all going to be over soon and you can move on. Good luck with the rest of your exams!
