What is the Difference between Liquid L-Carnitine and the Pill form of L-Carnitine?
Before you begin taking any supplement, please do your own research rather than take the word of "someone" who, in all likelihood, knows very little about it. It's your body, so do your due diligence before introducing something which may be harmful in the short or long run. Our bodies manufacture carnitine using two amino acids, lysine and methionine. Carnitine is used in cells for the transport of fatty acids from the cytosol into the mitochondria during the breakdown of lipids (fats) for the generation of metabolic energy. Carnitine exists in two stereoisomers, or mirror images of each other. The biologically active form is L-carnitine, while its enantiomer, D-carnitine, is biologically inactive. According to research at the University of Maryland Medical Center, "Although L-carnitine has been marketed as a weight-loss supplement, there is no scientific evidence to date to show that it improves weight loss." Click on the second link below for more information. You can get plenty of L-carnitine from food, rather than take a supplement. The best sources are beef steak and ground beef. Go to the first link below for a list of foods rich in L-carnitine. If you still insist on taking the supplement after doing research on the topic, the body absorbs liquids easier than pills, especially as we age. If you want to reduce body fat percentage then you can consume L-Carnitine and CLA.L- Carnitine is a supplement which helps in reducing our body fat percentage by using already deposited long chain fatty acids in the body as source of energy. It also increases stamina and speeds up recovery. It delays fatigue and allow athletes to train for longer duration.CLA - Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is a good fatty acid which naturally occurs in dairy and meat products. It increases body metabolism and reduces bad fat (LDL) but promotes good cholesterol level (HDL) in our body. It helps in the growth of lean muscles and removes toxins from our body. Acting as an anti-oxidant, CLA also protects our cell membranes from damage.Definitely, opting for both supplements is a good option.
How should I take l-carnitine?
L-Carnitine should be taken 45mns before exercise. Yes it's better on empty stomach but it's ok if taken during a meal. Especially pre workout. You need a meal full of protein and carbs, 1 hour before working out. You can take your Carnitine 30mns after your meal if you prefer. Take it twice during the day, around 1000mg pre workout and on empty stomach another time during the day (when waking up is just fine) take another 1000mg. Don't take more than 4000mg/day. Take it for 2 to 4 weeks.
What happens when you stop taking l-carnitine?
If you eat any meat or animal products at all, then probably you've probably already achieved maximum benefit from the amount of l-carnitine you can absorb. There would be essentially no observed effect of removing supplemented l-carnitine from the body in this case. Carnitine is a basic ammonium compound made up of a few amino acids, so supplementing it in large amounts generally isn't necessary as most of it can be synthesized from an ordinary diet. Further, the efficacy of l-carnitine as an exercise or weight loss supplement is unproven because there's no real reason that carnitine in particular should be responsible for a noticeable improvement in performance or weight loss. "Exercise Performance Although carnitine is often taken to improve exercise performance, there is no evidence it works. Weight Loss Although L-carnitine has been marketed as a weight loss supplement, there is no scientific evidence to show that it improves weight loss." - see source Be wary of the supplement industry, because it's more or less a bunch of snake oil salesmen. The supplements themselves almost never have any observable effects except in your pocketbook. This is because they aren't regulated by the FDA so often times their "propietary blends" are just powdered milk and table sugar or something to that degree, with maybe tiny trace amounts of their supposed active ingredient which really has no scientific basis anyway.
Does taking Liquid L-Carnitine really aid in weight loss?
It gives you more energy so that helps you be more active. The purpose is to help you help yourself. Exercising would be great because you would be able to burn more calories with the extra energy. Diet and exercise is the best option.
What is the best time to take L-Carnitine...?
About a half-hour to an hour before you start your cardio session, be sure to get 200-300 mg of caffeine and 1-2 grams of acetyl-L-carnitine. Caffeine has been shown to spare muscle glycogen as a fuel source. Instead, it mobilizes stored fat from fat cells, which is then used as fuel instead of glycogen. It has also been shown to reduce muscle pain during exercise, which means you can train harder for a longer period. Two or three cups of regular coffee is fine, but a supplemental form such as caffeine anhydrous is better. Acetyl-L-carnitine is an amino acid-like supplement that helps transport fat into the mitochondria of cells where it's burned for fuel. Taking it with caffeine makes a perfect combo because the caffeine helps free up fat from fat cells and the carnitine helps get it to the right place for burning it for fuel.
Would you recommend taking l-carnitine when having a kidney stone?
I will try to keep it simple. Your metabolism is basically the rate at which your body burns calories to create energy. So the faster your metabolism, the faster you burn calories and the easier it is to lose unwanted weight. To boost your metabolism naturally you just need to eat the right foods. You can sit down and literally eat a 1,000-calorie dinner and yet be absolutely starving just a few hours later and the reason is simple: Because your body didn’t get what it needed in those 1,000 calories so it sends signals to your brain telling you to ingest more calories and thus, the late-night cravings. That means that the surest way to end those late-night cravings and keep your weight loss goals on track is to eat a more balanced, nutritious diet that actually gives your body what it needs. It's VERY EASY to lose weight if you eat the right foods. Check out Dr. Charles Livingston's video here: http://www.drcharleslivingston.tv - it will blow your mind.
