I have bengali medium background but I want be a English medium school teacher. Is this possible?

Its a long process n not at all a easy one. First u ve to assure urself that if you can read English correctly, means if u can spell all English known n unknown words. If ur spellings r good, then u can try the other ways. Now,the next step is to polish ur grammer portion which is very much weak point not only for other medium students in India, but its very much true for Eng medium students also. For doing that u ve to solve exercises of many different kind of Eng grammer books n solve all exercises atleast twice or thrice. May it ll take 6 to 8 months, but u ve to do this for improving ur English. The most important thing u should do,is to learn the pronunciation of English words. Just forget that u r inferior to Eng medium background students cz they are only ahead I think in this pronouncing part. Its because they are taught, they speak in class, they are even scolded by teachers in Eng from their very childhood. Its a time taking process, but u can do it also by listening English news channels, sports channels, discovery, national Geographic, cnn,Ndtv channels  daily for 2 hrs or so. Try to concentrate the English accents spoken by the actors in English movies. You should keep a standered English newspaper with you always n a pocket dictionary. Everywhere, everytime you should be followed by English. I think 2 or 3 yrs are there in ur hand to become a successful teacher. So start from today, practice, practice n practice. It makes you perfect n nothing else. Try it now or never....time waits for none, remember.Good luck for your future.

Which is the medium of instruction at the Presidency College, Kolkata, English or Bengali?

In West Bengal perhaps no others University except Calcutta University offers Education in Bengali Medium. So definitely All books will be in English. And professors will give lecture in English in those Universities where non Bengali Students are admitted. Since Precidency University has many Non Bengali professors and students its natural that English is used for giving lectures. But you may make conversation in Bengali in most of Colleges and University because Almost All teachers are Bengali. I don't know wheather there are any University in India which provide education in Vernacular medium. The main cause is… Books in Vernacular language is not available for Science and Commerce subjects. Only History, Political Science can be taught in bengali presently.

How do I study for BUET or the University of Dhaka admission test?

Regarding BUET admission test:Being from an English medium background, I had to fumble in the dark for a while and lot of things I did at that time were probably not ideal. But a few things that helped me were (again, remember that 9 years have passed since I sat for the admission test and a few things have probably changed):I followed the Bengali text books and not the English Version ones. I found the English version books left out lot of important details and so, I struggled through the Bengali books. I eventually got used to them but it took a while.I attended coaching classes with Bengali medium students. I started out in the English medium batch but found that the teachers there were unsure themselves on how to teach English medium folks. Maybe things have changed now but at that time, I found struggling in a Bengali medium batch gave better rewards.I attended coaching classes regularly. I found out from the Bengali medium toppers that they did not need to take coaching classes very seriously. However, remember that they have already covered the syllabus quite well during HSC and need not go through the whole process again. But I found that attending classes regularly and trying to do well in the coaching exams helped me improve.Be focused about where you want to study. Bengali medium people, who have really studied in their HSC, can often go for BUET, DU, Medical, and IBA and ace them all. I felt, however, that being from English medium background, you start off with a handicap and to overcome that you have to put in the extra hours. Going for too many things may not really help you bridge the gap (of course, you may be exceptionally talented, and then, most of these things don’t apply for you :p).

What are the criteria for +2 admission of this year in DAV Model School, Durgapur {West Bengal province}? What is the minimum requisite in Pre-ICSE for confirmed admissibility? What other certificates do they ask for, along with the marksheets?

Well ..I am going to give my boards this year..from DAV Model School, Durgapur….Well I was..in Carmel in class 10..from there I have taken admission ..to dav..for 11–12..During my time..when.I was in class 10..dav admission test took place..I luckily got chance in the first list ..therefore..I was provincially admitted to the school…But it ‘s not going to be so difficult from this year..because..as I heard..the provincial admissions are not taking place..from this year..so..to get chance in dav..one has..to get it through there ICSE or CBSE..results..as said by teachers..generally..95% marks in icse..are entertained …as I too was an ICSE student…but most importantly..90% marks should be maintained in..maths (spl), science (spl.) and english…although ..if u r opting for science..for humanities and commerece …I am not so sure....and during our..time..marksheet along with..TC certificates...character certificates...and 9–10 marks where taken.but this year..I think ...the school marks are not required..only the boards marks..!!!…so best of luck..do well in ur boards..u will surely get a chance there…and I think it’s the best CBSE school..in the eastern region..and u would have a great experience..studying there..!!!!!!!!..DAV Rocks..c
