When Will My Tonsils Go Back To Normal After Having Antibiotics

Tonsillitis, getting worse after antibiotics. Is this normal?

First, the ENT is right about your tonsils. You want to keep them if you possibly can. I used to get tonsillitis every winter for about 8 years. Then all of a sudden they just disappeared and I haven't had a problem with them since. I also had a doctor that didn't believe in any unnecessary surgery's and he was right now that I know better. As for your tonsils getting worse if you don't get any better within a day then please go back and get tested for MRSA. This just might be tolerant to the antibiotic, especially since you're allergic to penicillin. You really shouldn't be experiencing secondary ear ache symptoms unless the antibiotic isn't working, or the infection (staph),has become tolerant to the erythromycin. This in itself is a definition of MRSA. If this is so you'll need stronger IV antibiotic treatment for 7-10 days and/or maybe a follow up of oral Bactrim DS. Please get tested for this asap so if it is you can get started on a treatment that will work. Good luck and God Bless

Diagnosed with tonsillitis but antibiotics not working?

Actually, that's perfectly normal. Most cases of tonsillitis are caused by viruses, and antibiotics do not change the course at all. Of the remainder, strep is the most common pathogen, and antibiotics have very little effect on the course of that, either. The main reason for prescribing antibiotics isn't to get you better, but rather to avoid late complications, so it's important to complete the course. Another possibility is mono, and if your tonsillitis turns out to be mono, you can be thankful that you haven't had the rash that combining the disease and amoxicillin often produces.
For all the wannabe doctors, it's a rare instance when a different antibiotic is going to be called for with tonsillitis. It isn't at all like other infections.

Tonsillitis thats not getting better after antibiotics?

I went to the Dr on Monday and was diagnosed as having Tonsillitis, he gave me antibiotics and said it should get better in a couple of days, It's wednesday now and I feel a lot worse. My throat and nose feel completely blocked making it quite hard to breathe. I have been having coughing fits that almost make me throw up. I know Doctors these days are quite reluctant to remove tonsils so Im not really sure what going to the doctor again could do.

Should I go back to the Doctor? Can he do anything more for me? What else can I do?

Also this is not the first time I've had Tonsiltis, I have been getting it once or twice a year for the last few years.

EDIT: I am NOT allergic to my meds, I'm taking Amoxcyllin and have taken it plenty of times with no worries.

How long does it usually take for antibiotics to start working?

Anti biotics are a big group of drugs.if you have infection of upper respiratoy tract and fever, doctor will prescribe you antibiotics.most of the times these ABS are broad spectrum(will be effective against multiple types of bacteria which usually are seen in these patients).Getting culture is tedious, costly and time consuming(min 48 to 72 hours).surely you would not like to suffer for another 2-3 days waiting for the culture report.further growth characteristic pattern and drug sensitivity may be different in vivo and in vitro.therefore it is only practical that doctor prescribes you medicines in standard doses according to your clinical presentation.there are many factor which can change bioavailability of drug(as described by other author).however most of the standard regimens ensure that adequate drug level is reached within a day or two.by  this time clinical response will be evident.please note that many a times upper resp infection is due to viruses(like influenza virus, swine flu etc).ABS are not effective against viruses. In case of respiratoy distress and non responsive ness to treatment please get the test for swine flu(in view of recent epidemic). Most other virus inf are self limiting.giving ABS will prevent secondary bact inf.

Can antibiotics cause me not to be erect?

I'm on amoxicillin 500 mg antibiotics in which I suppose to be taking three times a day for 1 week because of a sore throat I had. My throat is feeling much better but lately my penis hasn't been reacting to sexual behaviors (masterbating). Just yesterday I went to the doctor because I had an incident in which I was celebrating my basketball team victory and I was doing the bang bang dance in which you move your penis and body back and forward and when I got done my penis seem kinda droopy even though I was on soft. It was hanging lower then usual and it felt week. I experimented with this assumption through masterbation in which I ejaculated but haven't got on hard until I ejaculated and I got on hard very semi, not even medium erected, then I went back on soft. From there I knew I had a problem because it isnt normal to ejaculate on soft and then get a minor erect that last for 30 secs then go down. I went to the e.r and the doctor told me that my penis isnt broking from dancing or nothing , it was possible that I pulled a muscle just give it a couple days. I went home and went to sleep and woke up on hard hours later. When I get hard it stays until I try to masterbate then it goes down. us thats a sign that its getting better or what. I've heard antibiotics can stop blood from circulating to the penis in some cases because the body is tryna fight the bacteria infection so the system is undergoing a cleansing stage. Is this true??considering the fact that 500 mg is a big dosage can that have an effect of me not getting erected oppose to me normally getting erected easily. And Im 20 yrs old. I really don't wanna take no pills I want to be normal again so in you guys opinions help me out . When I get done with my pills should I be back to normal. I'm confused and this only day 2

Is it normal for tonsils to slowly swell back up after seemingly successful antibiotics treatment?

It is. But if it painful like in the case of adenotonsilitis it is not normal…it could be reinfection. I had a little friend back then he do have tonsillitis when we were much smaller , he was treated with certriazon severally but finally it came and seriously swollen his case was very severe so they did a minor surgery to get the tonsil out. See your physician for examination.

What should I do when I have one of my tonsils swollen? Few days back, I had sore throat and fever when my doctor said that the right side of my tonsil is swollen, and it should be removed by tonsillectomy. What are the natural ways to avoid it?

Normally, the doctor would prefer to treat the tonsilitis with antibiotics. Ask your doctor if this is an option (it could be viral). If the doctor tells you that antibiotics aren’t an option, or you consider antibiotics “unnatural”, then your only nonsurgical hope is prayer. You’ll need a lot of blessing, because tonsilitis can develop into rheumatic fever and nerve damage if untreated, because tonsilitis is frequently caused by a strep infection.Tonsilitis can also develop into a pus filled abcess, and if the diseased fluid gets into your blood, you could develop septicemia (blood poisoning) which in turn leads to multiple organ failure. If you’d like to avoid this kind of fate, listen to your doctor.

Why are there persisting white stipples on my tonsils after five days of antibiotic treatment?

White spots are frequently a sign of a strep infection, though this sign is not pathognomonic.Taking effective antibiotics will prevent the long term sequelae of a strep infection as well as spread of the infection, but it will not do speed the resolution of the infection. It will prevent heart and kidney complications.Group A streptococcal infectionMozart died of military fever, which may have been a strep infection. One wonders what he would have composed had he lived intoto his 50s like Beethoven or 60s like Bach.
