When Will Nfl Teams Wear Their Afl Jerseys Again

Are football jerseys washed after a match or do they get a new jersey every match they play?

Things have changed over the years. Until the late 90's, kit man used to clean, recondition and lay-out a clean kit for the next game. Players were charged for swapping their jerseys with another player. Nowadays, the kit man takes three jerseys per player to each game – one per half, plus a spare for emergencies. The jerseys are worn once because the club get many requests from charities for jerseys to be donated. Some players keep their jerseys, some swap jerseys with opponents and some donate them via the club.

Why do many sports teams seem to wear white jerseys when they play a home game?

MLB - home team wears white 99% of the time. Road team traditionally wore gray. In the early days of color television, many teams adopted a powder blue road uniform - they were specifically intended to “pop” more on early color CRT televisions. Those days are over, but baseball has mostly stuck to tradition.NFL - usually the home team wears their dark colors and away team wears light / white. Home team can choose to wear light color if they want - for example, after Vinny Testaverde mentioned (in an interview with Terry Bradshaw) that he was red-green color blind, home teams sometimes picked color schemes designed to confuse him.NHL - for most of NHL history, the home team wore white and the road team wore a dark color. In the late 1990s, they reversed it: home team wears dark colors, road team wears white.NBA - home team wears white / light color, road team wears dark color.

What would happen if an NFL team from 40 years ago played an NFL team of today?

I don't think the rules matter. Today's teams would wipe up the field with their older counterparts. Now, the so called "skill players" haven't really changed much. I would match Adrian Peterson up against Jim Brown any day.  Fran Tarkenton would be a good matchup against Cam Newton. I would note that until about 30 years ago, Cam wouldn't even have been drafted to play quarterback because he was black. However, line players have gotten much bigger and, in the end, that's where games are won and lost. Back  in the 60's and y0's, a "big man" would have topped out at 250 lb. Now, you won't see a lineman that small in the entire league, no matter how talented they are. 300 lb. linemen are the rule, and that makes a big difference. If players from the early merger era were faster, it might make a difference, but now some of the defensive linemen playing in the league are fast enough to cover wide receivers on some plays. Kickers are also a lot better than they used to be. One of the reason they keep moving the kickoff line back is that today's kickers can routinely put the ball in the end zone. That was the exception back in the 1970s. The same is true of most punters (except Ray Guy - he was superhuman).

Why do the Broncos have the same team colors as the Bears?

So Jay Cutler wouldn't know he was traded.

AFL or NFL: Which is tougher? American or Australian?

Definitely Australian Rules.

A. AFL footballers have to be fitter: the amount of running in a match (average ground 170 metres long), tackling (and being tackled), marking (catching) the ball etc.
B. NFL players are wrapped in padding to absorb impact and wear helmets. In the main 3 football codes played in Australia (Australian Rules, Rugby League, Rugby Union) the players wear a thin jersey and shorts, but admittedly some players DO wear headgear but usually because they are recovering from a concussion or broken skull from a previous match!
C. There is a HUGE disparity in the sizes of AFL players, eg Aaron Sandilands, Fremantle (211cm, 111kg) and David Zakahakis, Essendon (182cm, 78kg) may find themselves competing one-out for the ball and there is no "beg pardons" in the game!
D. Some AFL players have been known to play out the game after sustaining injuries like fractured ribs and a collapsed lung, broken hands, dislocated shoulders that have been popped back in (by a teammate, not a medical person!).
E. NFL players are rotated constantly (offensive and defensive specialists). Some AFL players have to play the whole match (100 minutes plus) because of injury to other players in their position. See also D above.
F. Australian Rules is played throughout Australia. One week a team may play at the Cattery in Victoria in a 50 km/h wind, driving rain and a temperature of 8 degrees C (47 degrees F) and the next week find themselves playing at the Gabba in blazing sunshine, 80% humidity and a temperature of 27 C (80 F) wearing the same strip. Players have been known to suffer hypothermia one week and heat stroke the next.

Basically, an AFL player has to be multi-disciplined, multi-talented and mentally and physically tougher.

Could the KKK buy a NFL team?

Could the KKK try to buy an NFL franchise?Certainly.Would they succeed?Certainly not. Here are some reasons that haven’t been mentioned in other answers:The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is not a defined single entity - Even at the Klan’s height of power in the 1920s, it was actually multiple organization pretending to a united front. The Klans of today are small and fragmented groups with as many differences and hatreds of one another as they have for minorities. The NFL would never allow one of its precious franchises to fall into the hands of a fractured splinter group of a largely unstable organization. The advertisers would never allow it - The NFL is essentially run by its advertisers. They decide what happens and who gets a team. ANYTHING that could potentially diminish the value of the products would not be allowed in the NFL and that certainly would include a group whose charter seeks to disenfranchise and discriminate against racial, ethnic and religious minorities. Many of the Klan’s leader are felons - This alone would halt the party before it ever began. Not only the NFL charter would prevent a convicted felon from owning even a portion of a sports franchise, the federal government would take a very dim view of it as well. While there may not be direct federal laws prohibiting it, it’s also a certainty that the NFL doesn’t want the Justice Department or the US Congress looking too deeply into their affairs. When given a choice between federal scrutiny and a billion dollars, the league would err on the side of scrutiny. The fans wouldn’t allow it - Currently the NFL is being roiled by a minor controversy involving players kneeling during the national anthem. Given the bad PR that this is causing, it’s difficult to see how it couldn’t avoid having a media firestorm erupt if a White supremacist organization attempted to buy one of their teams. The backlash would be so great that if it wasn’t immediately halted, the current commissioner would have to be replaced and many of team owners would face retribution in their businesses outside of the sport. The Church of Scientology or a major casino holding corporation would have a better chance at purchasing an NFL team than the KKK.

What unique traditions do NFL teams celebrate?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have two that immediately spring to mind:1) The Terrible Towel (or "Tahl", if you prefer)Maybe it's not unique any more, but back in 1975 when Steeler broadcaster Myron Cope came up with it, it was the first of its kind. And as an added bonus, proceeds go to the Allegheny Valley School, a school for special-needs children (Cope's son had/has severe autism, I believe) -- Cope donated the merchandising rights to the Towel to the school in 1996.The Towel has walked the Great Wall of China. The Towel has flown patrols over Iraq. The Towel has climbed Everest. The Towel has been in space. RESPECT THE TOWEL.2) More recently, "Renegade" A more recent tradition has involved the Styx song "Renegade", as a pump-up song for the Pittsburgh defense. The playing of "Renegade" usually happens at least once during the game at a key defensive moment. The song itself is accompanied by a clips package of defensive highlights -- big hits, turnovers, etc. http://bleacherreport.com/articl...

What's the difference between an NFL championship and a Superbowl championship?

NFL Championship was the League Championship BEFORE the NFL-AFL merger. The first two Super Bowls actually were before the merger with the two league Champions playing. Anyway neither is more important. Now if you mean the difference between an AFC/NFC Championship and the Superbowl it's the difference between the Conference and the League(where the Super Bowl is clearly more important)
